Soldering iron no good in USA.
I bought a soldering iron from them. I can not use it. I am in the USA and the soldering iron works only on 220V. Yes, the rating was in the small print. Still, I think it is ridiculous they ship 220V gear to USA without a clear warning. I will stay away from them.

Straightforward PayPal transaction, no hitches. The book I purchased provides a tutorial on how to use FreeCad in the context of building mechanical and housing components for electronics applications. In fairness to the reader, I have not finished reading the book, but the initial "flip-through" suggests this will be a useful, well-paced introduction to the software--I'm comfortable with 3D printer-related CAD but want to change my design application.
One major caveat: North American purchasers, beware!! Shipping prices are quite high (I guess they need to be) and offset the otherwise very reasonable costs of items in the Elektor Store. I bought the book as a PDF.

The site has some good contents worth exploring, but unfortunately, the overall user experience leaves much to be desired. In conclusion, while the site may have some valuable content, the unpleasant user experience and the low-quality second class trial offers make it difficult to recommend. Save yourself the trouble and look for better alternatives elsewhere.

Joy-it Nuclear radation detector
This device is very handy for general radioactivity detection. It gives a visual and audible warning of radiation background and bursts and shows current and cumulative statistics graphically. The main drawback is that there seem to be no instructions on how to download measurements to a PC so I assume this is not possible. Case is very sturdy and conveniently palm-sized.
