Yesterday
Yesterday, I had my annual air conditioner and furnace maintenance completed by Enercare, and Ben provided outstanding service.
Professional Demeanour: Friendly, courteous.
Thorough Inspection: Cleaned and tested both units thoroughly.
Clear Communication: Explained the system health reports clearly without any confusing jargon.
Honest Advice: Provided proactive maintenance tips without pushing unnecessary upsells.
Spotless Workspace: Left the mechanical room completely clean and tidy before leaving.
I highly recommend Ben for your next seasonal tune-up if you want an excellent, stress-free experience!

Just to be clear I would rate the service technicians 5, they are efficient and friendly. My issue is with customer service, I had an appointment for a new water heater, which was cancelled and rescheduled through no fault of my own. They were short staffed due to an on job injury. I was told at the time I would get my first month with the new heater free. Not the case, I did not get it in writing. When I called there was no record of this, and was told too bad, so sad. I have been their customer for a very long time in good standing. Lesson learned, always get these types of offers in writing!
I give Enercare one star only
I give Enercare one star only because I can't give them zero. Let me be clear. I've ALWAYS found their *technicians* to be courteous, professional, efficient, and reliable. It is their administrative processes and staff that are appalling. Their Automated Attendant is absurdly confusing. Navigation through it is convoluted and obscure. The wait times are measured in double-digit minutes no matter day of week or time of day. Their "Customer Service" staff often have accents that make them very difficult to understand and they are ALWAYS robot-like with their questions and comments. Despite their frequent use of the phrase "I am so sorry to hear you are having difficulty", their actions indicate that, either they have zero empathy or they are unable (due to internal controls) to act sympathetically. Very often, once a "Customer Service" rep hears your concern, they will hand you off to another department and you'll need to repeat your problems/needs yet again. It is as though the entire process was DESIGNED to be a voyage of frustration.
Furnace Replacenent
I had two servicemen in today installing a new furnace. From start to finish it was excellent service. They arrived within the allotted two hours after calling first. They were as unobtrusive as possible, given the nature of the job. Both men were polite. Everything was explained to me afterwards as to how my heating and air-conditioning would work, as well as what to do for maintenance. My old furnace was removed and not a hint of debris left anywhere. Really professional job.
And as an aside, I called Enercare on Monday, salesman came Tuesday and gave me all the options, and the furnace was installed Wednesday. Nice to have that all wrapped up in a short period of time.

I'm happy with the service provided by Juan Donoso
I'm happy with the service provided by Juan Donoso who came to fix my leaking toilet tank. Job was done professionally, replaced most of the old parts, flapper, fill valve, flush valve and flexible hose/valve. He advised me to put water softener as well. Very rare to find an exceptional plumber like Juan. Salute to you Sir Juan.

I have had five service calls with these guys. All five time they come into our driveway then back out and leave!!!
When I tried to cancel the plan with them they won’t let me. Stating that I will be billed for the entire season.
Meanwhile still no service or nothing to let us know we won’t be getting a service done.
Evercare are a bunch of incompetent people who don’t know how to service or fix anything.
They are very expensive. I don't recommend them.

If you want to cancel the service, it's not possible to, because de contract is set for 1 year firm.
For maintenance service, they will find any excuse to make you pay for the service call.
WARNING AND BEWARE:
WARNING AND BEWARE:

As big as Enercare is, it is filled with ineptness and incompetence, and extreme harassment challenges which ultimately the customer pays the price.
A 6 year-old hot water tank needed replacing as it burst causing flooding. Enercare was called and instructed to have the driveway free of vehicles to allow the technician easy access which a person would expect the tank to be replaced as they have all the tank info.
Technician showed up, no tank, no equipment and advise what we had already discussed on the phone with the Calltaker.
Appalled and disgusted that the technician did not have a hot water tank. I called head office while the technician was in front of us and on speakerphone to make the complaint that did not come prepared as we were advised to clear vehicles from the driveway and it was understood the tank had burst. Instead, the technician flagged the hot water tank as in operable and advised call-taker once they received his report, they would send it to another department and on and on the headache went.
After the technician had left a lady by the name of Shania called from her office to advise that, though they knew the hot water tank need to be replaced and inoperable from the phone call advising, his report did not come through because there was a “glitch” in the system. We were instructed we would be sent a link, for us, to go online to resubmit all the information that had previously been done.
After that phone call and disgusted that a big company did not send a technician with a replacement tank and advised to clear the driveway for no reason, we went ahead with another company called GoLime which was used by another family member and very satisfied and much cheaper with a more efficient hot water tank.
GoLime came in the next day. Did a great job and then out of the blue and Enercare technicians showed up with two different water tanks to replace the one that had broke. They came in unannounced, no booked appointment and argued that the new tank was NOT NEW and had to be replaced. Absolutely incompetent deplorable and disgusting.
This company is a scam, they bully their customers, and they take advantage of people who can’t defend themselves and scam their way in to long-term contracts. They are incompetent, inept and should be heavily investigated by outside agencies for their high level marketing scams.
This battle to cancel has not finished as a call was made to cancel. Told the monthly balance was outstanding which was paid over the phone. Once this representative confirmed payment was made, advised to hold to be transferred to their loyalty dept. Once transferred an automated message advised closed for the day. Another outrageous scam as the call taker must have known they’d be closed but only to receive more money.
UPDATE to follow.
Billing nightmare
I had my old leaking hot water removed two months ago by Enercare ,i am still being billed for that plastic pipe called a supply line .
In 13 years i must have paid for that twenty foot exaust pipe, ten times over, or more.
Enercare refuses to cancel my account which clearly states that i have no products or services with Enercare.
I hate this company. Zero stars for bullying customers .
My 9 year old water heater was leaking…
My 9 year old water heater was leaking and decided to go with a tankless from LG. I decided to leave Enercare after being lectured by one of their own over missing one payment during my 42 year history with Enbridge/Enercare.
They wanted to charge me a buy out from 2020. Sent pictures of rusted and leaking tank to them. It took a picture of model number, serial number and date of mfg. to convince them it was a 2016 replacement and not a 2020. Still charged me $630.00.

Poor customer service
I am extremely unhappy with Enercare’s billing process. Their representatives seem poorly trained and are often unable to resolve billing problems that their own system creates. As a customer, you are forced to make multiple calls just to find the right agent who actually understands the issue and can fix it.
Unfortunately, you have to request their supervisors. Dealing with this company is exhausting and frustrating. I would not recommend Enercare based on my experience.
Very bad experience
Very bad experience. I hadn’t used the maintenance plan for years, so I cancelled it in March. When I called, customer service offered me six months free to stay, but I declined. The representative then told me that this month’s fee would be refunded by check and never mentioned that I will be charged for remaining contract.
However, a few days later I received a bill for the remaining six months. I called again, and a different customer service representative said the billing department would get back to me within two days, but no one followed up. Two weeks later, I was charged for the remainder of the contract.
Kayla Denomme from Enercare followed up on my complaint and responded very quickly. It took a few rounds of follow-up with the billing department, but I finally received my refund. I originally rated the experience one star, but because of Kayla’s excellent support, I gave her five stars instead — averaging out to an overall rating of three stars.
Absolutely the worst company in Canada…
Absolutely the worst company in Canada to deal with by far. I have been renting a tank from them since 2008 and when I needed a new hot water tank and they wanted to charge me an additional $350 for the same tank from HomeDepot installation included as a buyout. You would think that if I have been a customer for so long with them they would have matched HomeDepots price but they did not. As a result I had to pay $100 to buy out the old tank and break my contract so I can have the new tank installed by HomeDepot. Beware they don’t care about service and more about the money!
Avoid Enercare water heater rentals at…
Avoid Enercare water heater rentals at all costs.
I’ve been paying $63.95/month for a water heater that came with my “new build” home—something I never actively agreed to. After 4+ years, I tried to get out of this rental and it’s been nothing but frustration.
They refused to provide me with my contract and told me to “contact the builder” instead. That’s unacceptable. I’m the one paying every month—why is it so difficult to get basic documentation?
On top of that, the buyout cost for my unit is outrageously high, making it nearly impossible to exit without paying thousands. This feels like a trap designed to lock homeowners into long-term payments.
Over time, this rental will cost far more than the actual equipment is worth. Most people don’t realize this when buying a new home, and it’s not clearly explained upfront.
This whole setup lacks transparency and feels extremely predatory.
If you’re buying a home:
Check if there’s a rental contract attached
Demand full details before signing anything
Seriously consider opting out
I would never recommend this company based on my experience.
