Disgusting after care

Would stay well clear from Engenara. The install is shocking and the aftercare is none existent. They now don't even answer my calls or emails.This has been going on for 6 months... Next step is going down to the offices to confront them face to face.

Over 15 months and Solar energy system still not working!

PLease note, the problems below do not include everything that happened. I have kept it to a reasonable minimum as I do not want to bore you. I had two sets of solar panels through COSTCO fitted by Engenera in September 2022. One of the houses was eventually completed, one panel turned up broken, there was a delay in getting another, they had to remove and refit the panels as they were not fitted correctly, the bird netting for both houses which I had to arrange as they could not, was finally fitted in April 2023. The other system however, fitted at the same time, has never worked properly since. I have phoned and emailed literally dozens of times and been told they would come and fix it but I am still waiting. Vanessa who is supposedly my contact does not answer my emails now. They even blamed it on my phone app and told me to get in touch with Huawei, the manufacturers as they could fix the app. Huawei came back with an email stating very clearly they could not fix it remotely and this was a problem for the installers Engenera as a visit to the site was necessary. I informed Engenera and forwarded the email detailing the problems to which Vanessa stated she had passed the information to there Remedial Work Team. This was on the 11th January 2024. It is 4 weeks now with no other contact what so ever. Wait out for the next thrilling episode.

I Would give them a minus 20.
Engineers confirmed the system was incorrectly installed in July 2020. Started experiencing lack of or no hot water from September 2020 onwards and heating not working on many occasions to date July 2023. The water tank cylinder started leaking from Oct 2022 and 9 months later still not resolved and now damaging the surrounding area. ASHP unit leaking and damaging inside floor and wall, still not resolved. NAPIT now assisting but Engenera Seniors playing games and only respond on NAPIT last day deadlines. DO NOT GO TO ENGENERA!!!

Costco & Engenera Solar System - Never use them

I want to share my experience with Costco and Engenera for anyone considering their solar installation services. I initially chose Costco, a reputable company, assuming they would deliver on their promises. Engenera was their subcontractor for the installation, although I had never heard of them before. Unfortunately, the process did not go as smoothly as expected.

After placing my order, there were delays in performing the desktop survey and completing the site survey and design. Communication became challenging, and it took multiple follow-ups to get a response from the subcontractor. They mentioned having new management and assured me they would personally address my order.

Eventually, the desktop and physical site surveys were conducted, and I approved the system based on the design. However, further issues arose when it came to the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) approval. There was a misunderstanding regarding my DNO status, which resulted in the need for resubmission and additional waiting time.

Even after resolving the DNO issue, another problem surfaced: Engenera expressed doubts about the available space on my roof. Despite offering to install as many panels as possible and keep the rest, they were unable to proceed. As a result, I wasted nearly 6 months of time and noticed that prices for the same system increased on Costco's website.

To make matters worse, my order was eventually cancelled without any compensation or resolution. Based on my experience, I advise potential customers to consider local, trusted installers instead of Costco and Engenera.

Costco even proudly running a campaign on their website home page that promoting the services of Engenera with discount, although I feel it is really expensive system, knowingly that they are misleading customers and not able to deliver order such a customers like me.

I hope sharing these details helps others make informed decisions and avoid the frustrations I encountered throughout this process.

I wish Trustpilot reviews allow us to even give zero star but unfortunately this option is not available

Very good after sales support

There were issues from the start with multiple contractors after ordering from Costco. However Engenera were very prompt on the install and commissioning once they were on it.
Still having issues getting paid anything from Octopus (4 months on from installation), but Engenera were very helpful, especially Trever Goodwin in after sales support. Trying to grid charge your battery at night, Trever can help with this. Super prompt in his responses.

Issue Raised with Engenera

Recently Engenera has taken retail business inside of their operations. Previously outsourced and contractor completely stuffed up. Large number of customers have raised poor comments.

But I had an issue raised with Engenera recently and New Ops Manager, Trever Goodwin and Technical Designer. Adam Westwood were very helpful and communications were prompt. I hope things will continue to improve with customer experiences.

After placing our order with Costco

After placing our order with Costco, we did experience significant delays until installation. I think that they had been overwhelmed with orders.
We had great customer service from Trevor, both before & after installation. Sal was great& managed the installation, and kept us informed all the time as to what was happening. He also set up the App, which is extremely useful. Very pleased with the final result.

Engenera needs better quality control!

Ordered a 16 panel PV system through Costco in Aug '22 and almost from the very start there were issues:
1. Survey and installation dates changed often, install completed Nov. 17th, commissioned Nov. 23rd.
2. PV installation was completed in one day, and a sloppy installation is the result, panels not level with each other, the two arrays do not align. There are adjustments on the PV rails but no attempt to ensure the rails were aligned was made.
3. The after commissioning support is very poor, I was looking for a specific simple management system software request but they were not able to provide this for me despite getting Huawei involved providing instructions, in the end Huawei suggested set up the system management myself and take full control of my equipment.
4. Despite providing the LOA so that Engenera could act on my behalf to the DNO in Aug '22, the application wasn't submitted until Dec. '22
5. After much chasing they said they finally made payment to the DNO at the end of March '23, then chased DNO/Engenera for over 6 weeks to determine why my DNO job reported non-payment, DNO wanted proof of payment from Engenera but they always failed to supply the correct requested doc. Wasn't until a week after the CFO of Engenera got involved that this was finally resolved.
6. I had a faulty panel with a shadow, this was replaced after many delays, the roofers gave me very little confidence, one of them wasn't very mobile and shouldn't be expected to be doing roof work.
7. Still awaiting DNO approval, 6 months AFTER commissioning! No doubt Engenera will blame the DNO, SSE for this, but they played a very major role in this delay.

Despite these issues, there are positives:
1. Commissioning was very good, Sal gave me confidence that he knew what he was doing and provided me with all the information I needed to maintain the system. Well done Sal!
2. The equipment, inverter/battery by Huawei give great performance, especially through the coldest days of winter! Very pleased with the product!

I will provide updates when I get some progress.

Glad I got solar panels

Glad I got solar panels. Was surprised at how efficient they are on a sunny day. Make sure to apply for a feed in tariff after installation which can take a month.

PV system is good but mixed experience with service

The PV system is good and seems to be working very well. Initially had a bad experience with Engenera and their contractors who delayed installation, installed incorrectly (didn’t install enough brackets and the panels were making noises in the wind) and were incompetent (didn’t put the roof tiles back after installation and had a leak through our ceiling). After complaining and Engenera changing their management team and contractors they have put things right for me even though with some delays. Also as the panels do not sit flush against the roof, birds started nesting under the panels and I had to pay the roofing contractor to put bird guards around the panels. I think this should be included as standard.

PV system ordered through COSTCO and the install went smoothly. Communication from Trevor at Engenera was excellent and the overall experience was positive. The install is very neat and the install team were professional at all times. 100% recommendation for Engenera Renewables Group.

Positive PV System Install

I ordered PV system through COSTCO and whilst the overall process did take a little bit of time (Sep 22 to Feb 23) the outcome and experience was very positive. Communication between the Engenera PM and I was always open and honest. The install is very neat and was completed quicker than expected. The teams (roofers and electricians) conducting the install were very polite, friendly, proactive and professional at all times. I consider the delivered product of good quality with no issues at all. Well done Engenera Renewables Group.

Faulty Power Connector
As with anything new, there will always be some teething problems! Typical when the sun comes out that's when it happens.
But give Engenera there due - I got an immediate response and Chris Aitken of CopperTech showed up at my door the very next day.
A quick analysis, identified & rectified the problem, set me up and just like that, all up & running.
Big respect for such a quick turnaround.
Thank you Trever in costcosales engenera, raj the guru and Chris the top man!

Costco order

Ordered my solar product from Costco back in September 2022 and originally went for the maximum kw system they had on offer. That was 18 panels as I wanted to utilise my roof orientation to maximise the east to west summer daylights and future energy consumption plan. There was no update on my order from Engenera for weeks and upon my enquiry they forwarded to their design team who very quickly remote surveyed my roof and said I can only have 10 panels due to roof alignment resulting in waste space. I asked them to review the design to see if its possible to squeeze in some more panels. After several reviews and challenging the design (panel orientation – I even sent them my own design sketches!) my system went from 10panels to 12panels and then finally settled for 14 panels! I understand its not always possible to estimate exact number of panels that can be fitted on a roof until someone is actually on the roof taking the measurements. As it happened in my case, I have 14 panels now but there is still room for 2 more! I think the company could be flexible here to adjust to customer need during the installation.

I had couple of installation dates before xmas but got postponed without telling me. Communication improved massively after Trevor joined the company in the new year. He regularly kept me updated with supply chain issues, gave realistic best case dates etc. I started to believe in Engenera again. Thanks to him I got my system installed in Feb 2023, fast tracked.

The installers themselves, I believe, are sub contractors. Really nice guys but I am not too sure about the electrical side of the work though as I felt there was lack of cable management experience in there. I was told my power will be disconnected for 30mins max – that was 2pm but I got reconnected after 5:30pm in that cold evening (they had to go to the shop to get the correct parts). Finally I was told all installations completed and needed to commission the system in the morning. In the following morning it took couple of hours to commission it with another, but short power outage to readjust some cabling on the meter side. In my opinion the guys have worked their best, maybe some training opportunity here.

Costco 7.38kw solar panel with battery

Very good installation . Nice and neat. Great team. Trever very good in managing when I had few questions and getting things correct. Lee was very good in planning where cables go they are invisible! Very pleased. Callum was good and hard working. Roof guys were excellent in their quality of work. Chris was nice and sought things out with installation and very hard working with a smile. Well done team

My original order was with Costco

My original order was with Costco, with Engenera their contractor. The order was placed in September and finally delivered in January by a subcontractor called Fortress Energy. 1st off their are some supply problem from China - I work in IT and I've been waiting six months for Firewalls. The delay was annoying but not Fortress's fault. Their guys worked hard, very late both days and delivered a 3.3Kw system which is working fine. They have performed post-install checks too. Clearly this is a very busy part of the market. If it was just Fortress I would give 5 stars, but Engenera / Costco should not advertise 1mth install when they can't deliver to that. Still waiting on the documentation but again - I know the team are very busy.

I purchased solar Panels from Costco…

I purchased solar Panels from Costco and finally after some initial problems with Engenera they completed the installation before Christmas, the Engenera team have been marvellous with Paul, Lee and Ashlyn and the on-site chaps Neil, Stephen and Ian working over 2 days to fit and commission the system very tidy and impressive system thank you 😊

Do not buy from COSTCO

Do not buy from COSTCO. COSTCO supplier is Engenera Renewables Limited. They have a very poor customer service, and their sub-contractor (Smarter Utilities Ltd) is hopeless.

I had commissioned 12 panel system in October 2022 soon after that inverter went off. Not supirsingly electrician sent in by Smarter Utilities Ltd didn't know what he was doing and learning on the job.
Manufacturer has provided with replacement inverter but still waiting on Installer to come and replace the faulty inverter. It has been 6 weeks and issue is still not resolved.

Installer had rescheduled to visit today and didn't turn up. Have tried contacting Brian (Brian(at)smarterutility.co.uk) but unreachable.

Avoid COSTCO and Engenera Renewables Limited

Costco Customer: Failed to deliver the contract

I would not even give them a 1 star! Bought a package solar pv & battery deal through Costco and it has been a nightmare. Three months in we still not had the system installed, and have had so many issues both with Engenera and Costco. Issues such as:

- We were asked for additional funds of £1500 which were in scope of the original package. Had to fight to get the company to acknowledge it was a mistake
- They failed to apply for the DNO until I chased them, 2.5 months after purchase
- They sent the solar panels even though no installation date was agreed and DNO had not been approved

They do not reply back to emails and Costco will not do anything. Decided to cancel order as was not getting anywhere and now have lost nearly three months of finding a more suitable supplier!

Do not buy solar panels from Costco

Do not buy solar panels from Costco. We did and 3 months later we are still giving most of our energy away free to the grid. Engenera sub contract all the work and those sub contractors sub contract it out again. The main sub contractor is smarter utility they are useless. We have no completed paperwork despite numerous requests so can’t even sell the energy to the grid that we are wasting.
Our panels were not fitted straight and now the only option is to have them all taken off the roof to be refitted or live with them at a slant. Do we want yet more people stomping around our roof and will the quality of the job be any better next time? I doubt it.
Nobody knows how the system works, they spend hours on the phone to Huawei and promise it will work and then through our monitoring of the app and our smart meter every time we can see it isn’t working. Then we have to have yet another electrician with another set of ideas as to how to fix it.
We have had missed appointments and have to chase everything up ourselves. Every time we go back to Costco they tell us Engenera have said it is working - wake up Costco you are being conned.
Costco tell us we are the only customer with a problem - I find that hard to believe and as you can’t leave a review on the Costco website I’m prettty sure it’s not true.
