Hamilton Enterprise Mixed feelings

Mixed feelings about the hiring process from Enterprise Hamilton. Checked price online and £260 for a Corsa. Upon entering office was upgraded to Puma and asked about getting partner added which was an additional £60 per day!!! I then paid fee plus additional £200 and told would get this on return be told have to wait 3-4 days? Then after agreeing to car told the excess was £1750 !!! Needless to say I used it only to get to work and not go to shops as was terrified it wld get bumped/scratched. No issue with the actual car or staff but Enterprise prices/policies are atrocious and handed back day early and still they want to deduct £15 petrol

great service!

Hi I just wanted to call out the experience I had at Enterprise on sticker lane in Bradford this week was excellent. Adreece was attentive, communicative and really went above and beyond to make sure I had a smooth hire and I can’t speak highly enough of him. I was nervous at first about hiring but he made everything perfect with this skills and organisation. I hope this is seen by the right people as he’s a genuine credit to the company. Thank you to Adreece and the team at sticker lane!

hired a car for a few weeks

hired a car for a few weeks, Enterprise split the hire into 2 separate invoices - had to claim the hire cost back from a 3rd party, who wouldnt pay as the invoices were billed to 2 separate COUNTRIES!!, spent hours on calls to various call centres attempting to have it amended, still unresolved.

will not be using again!!

Let down on 2 occasions

Let down on 2 occasions. After clarifying policies over the phone about having a 17 year old new driver who needed to use the car, on arrival they couldn't process it without further approval from my insurance company. Hours later, we had to give up and I had to go and get my own car back from the garage it was being fixed at through 3rd party insurance. Staff clearly didn't know their policies.
Rebooked and having phoned to see where the car is to collect me, the employee who booked my collection booked for 2 days after I needed them. They were able to send someone that day but further waiting, failed communication and inconvenience caused.

Absolutely appalling service from…

Absolutely appalling service from Enterprise Oxford.

I booked a van in advance, only to arrive and be told they didn't actually have one available. Despite taking my booking and my money, they failed to honour the contract and offered little more than a shrug. There was no meaningful apology, no sense of accountability, and no genuine effort to resolve the situation.

The attitude from the staff came across as, "We don't care." They seemed completely unconcerned about the inconvenience and disruption they had caused.

If you can't guarantee the vehicles you accept bookings for, you shouldn't be taking customers' money in the first place. I would strongly advise anyone who actually needs a vehicle to think twice before relying on this branch.
Amendment: you only seem
Interested in sorting things out when you actually have a bad review. I tried to call as you requested but 30 mins waiting on someone to answer is horrendous. Still no response or resolution.

Absolute disgrace of a service

Absolute disgrace of a service. Enterprise cancelled my fully prepaid and verbally confirmed van hire reservation on May 19, 2026, the night before collection, citing suddenly having zero vehicle availability. I was promised a full refund within 10 days.

50 days later, I am still waiting.

I have chased Enterprise four separate times via their online helpdesk and phone support. Every single time, I was told the issue was being "escalated" and to wait another 10 days. It is a complete lie designed to get you off the phone. On my final call, customer service admitted they could do nothing more and told me to call the branch directly. The branch is a ghost town. The phone just rings out constantly. Central customer service tried to call them and couldn't get through either.

Enterprise's last-minute cancellation forced me to scramble and pay for an alternative van hire elsewhere, leaving me significantly out of pocket. They are now unlawfully holding my money. I am now filing formal disputes with the BVRLA as I'm getting nowhere with Enterprise and no closer to getting my money back.

Scammers!!!!!

I hired a van for the day and my first issue was it had hardly any fuel in, 103 miles to be precise. I returned it with 146 miles. My second issue was on returning the van, the indicator cover had fallen off. In my opinion this was not either fitted properly and it had fallen off in transit or it was already missing. The sales assistant claimed this was done by myself and even claimed the bulb was broken/smashed in his statment which it was NOT broken. I had taken photo evidence off the missing indicator cover and nothing was broken or damaged. I was informed the access is £2500!!! For a indicator cover??? Absolutely disgusting. The sales assistant had LIED in his statement that the bulb was smashed. I think he was taking advantage because I was a woman. The bottom line is that the sales assistant lied in his statement which me personally is classed as fraud!. My third issue is on collecting the van, I noticed the engine management light was on indicating that one of the tyre pressure was low on the back drivers side. The sales assistant apologised and reassured me that it was a fault with the sensors and hadn't been reset properly. And it would be safe for me to drive, which it clearly wasnt, I even mentioned this on return to the sales assistant which he immediately dismissed. I think trading standards need to look into this so called company!!!

The Mercedes e class hired arrived to…

The Mercedes e class hired arrived to me with the aroma of stale KFC & sweat. The car cabin had grease all over the buttons, door handles due to being badly cleaned. Informed the staff who asked the valet team to clean it again which kept me waiting 20mins despite saying the car was clean. Car was checked over in the dark due to flood lights being not working in the site. Car arrived to me with a slow puncture and was charged for the tyre change! Incorrectly overcharged when i gave the car back and never got this resolved by the manager at sydenham and also head office failed to acknowledge the charge had come from sydenham branch. Absolute scammers. Have also booked previously with them a van for weekend house move only to be told at 5PM friday night. They take your money even if no vehicles in stock to refund the money back to increase sales turnover.

What an awful company - my insurer arranged a car through them whilst my wife's car was being repaired. Someone drove into the hire car whilst she was parked in Tesco carpark - the lady admitted liability, provided insurance details etc. Enterprise took £500 excess (even though the excess on my policy is £295) and have been awful in communicating with insurers etc.
Treated us like criminals rather than customers - avoid at all costs.

Scammed on fuel limit

Ordered a small Fiat 500 from Newquay airport (to accommodate the small lanes of Cornwall). On collection given a brand new Nissan Qashqai with 1/4 tank of fuel and informed the excess would be £1,750 if damaged. Hence I was on edge all week. Returned the car back to the collection point with 1/4 tank of fuel. Three days later my credit card had £26.99 deducted without my authorisation. Rang help line who informed me I'd returned it under fuelled. Their policy is full tank for a full tank. I so wish I'd have demanded a full tank of fuel now. Written formal complaint to Newquay branch but had no reply. Total rip off. Would never use again. I bet they rip 1000s of customers off with this little fuel scam. Shocking customer service.

I am extremely disappointed with the Customer Service

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service provided by the local Eastbourne branch and the lack of follow-up from Customer Service.
My refund issue began on 6 May, and since then I have contacted both the local branch and Customer Service on seven separate occasions. Despite repeated promises that someone would contact me within five working days, I have never received a reply from anyone.
There appears to be no effective service level agreement or ownership of customer complaints. The lack of communication and accountability has been both frustrating and unacceptable.
The level of customer service I have received has been absolutely disgusting and appalling. It should not be this difficult to obtain a refund that was agreed by your staff weeks ago. I have spent a considerable amount of time chasing this matter, yet it remains unresolved.
I expect this issue to be addressed without further delay.

Terrible experience the sales team do…

Terrible experience the sales team do not communicate they all tell you different things . They made me feel I was being scammed , didn’t tell me I could book on line save 15% was pressured into buying extra excess cover, was told I could claim back days if I returned it early , when I tried to claim a day they pushed back saying I had hired car a week which I didn’t in the end I was refunded about £14 which made it 47 a day I told them car too big fir me and then spent 5 days paranoid that I’d something happened I would pay dearly, I just had a sense they would try exploit the situation. It reminded me of a dodgy car trader , took weeks to get money back for the extra excess I was pressured to buy made to feel extremely vulnerable that they had access to my bank account and completely non transparent about fees. Would not recommend Stevenage branch it turned out far more expensive in comparison to what I have learned since. Finally it states on website we will pick you up , there was no way that would happen. Least but last I was grateful that manager agreed to refund excess fee but I did not really get a full day refunded and no one in the office explained the fees the same all had different excuses .

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. I will never use this company again or any affiliates. Book a car on a Saturday for the Monday afternoon. Phone call on Sunday to say they did not have the class I had booked and would I be happy with a smaller vehicle. We needed the larger vehicle so I said no. Was told (on the Sunday) that the refund would be done immediately. Went away anyway (sourced a suitable replacement elsewhere) expecting the refund to hit my card in 2-3 days. Friday, checked when I got home, no refund. Rang the office, was told they couldn’t tell if it had been refunded so would send the refund request again. Apparently they don’t process refunds themselves (as I was led to believe on the Sunday), it goes to the refund department who decide if they refund! Rang the office again on Monday as still nothing to be told the same thing, asked how to escalate this and was told they would copy me in to the email they were sending - guess what? No email!!! Gave up with the office and rang customer service who said it would take 10 working days for a refund. This is outrageous considering they were the ones who could not maintain their side of the contract. Absolute joke

Filthy battered cars

First car was filthy and had a flat tyre, clearly obvious to the branch
Second car was also filthy, it had seven areas of damage to the bodywork. We were embarrassed to drive either of them even after I spent hours cleaning them.

The car was in a disgusting state

The car was in a disgusting state, full of dog hair, dandruff all over passenger seat and smelt. The car was given to us with damage down the passenger side. Later to be blamed on us. They did not do their checks. The car had been brought in the day we took it everything was rushed as they wanted to go home now we are victims of their incompetence. My daughter is a new driver had had a crash the day before through no fault of her own and now this. She has had to go the doctors due to panic attacks caused from it and now enterprise have caused her more undue stress. This will be taken further with legal action and thorough reports from cctv and documents from the incompetent staff. Who were quite frankly rude and unprofessional at Southport Norwood road branch. NEVER in my life will i go here again!!!!!

Collection and drop off staff issues

I rent car regularly from Enterprise I have noticed over the last year, whenever you go into a branch to either collect a car of return a car, all the branch staff are on the telephone.
When you approach the counter they do not acknowledge you but keep looking at their computer screen or anything to avoid eye contact. It is strange that when they do finally decide to end the call and deal with you the telephones are not constantly ringing!
As a customer this make me feel like I am an imposition.
Why do Enterprise now have to have a second telephone number and know who your employer is. I personally do not have a 2nd telephone number or a next of kin. I am also not willing to disclose who my employer is to a 3rd party.
Also now when you book a type of car you used to have a good idea what you would get now it seem you are just given what they want to give you. My last rental should have been and automatic Passat what is got was an automatic Renault Symbioz, I wanted the Passat for the larger engine and comfort as I was travelling over 500miles. The small engine in the renault was changing gear all the time and had nowhere near the comfort you would expect from a VW Passat.
Also when I dropped the car off I was questioned on where was the parcel shelf, I explained there was not one in the car when I collected it, this was met with they would have to check with the supplying branch. When I said no problem I have a witness to the fact there was no parcel shelf the attitude became okay thats fine.

I have an enterprise account which they promise free car upgrades has anyone ever had an upgrade, in fact I have only ever been down graded.

Either fraudulent or incompetent

Renting cars is basically a front for this company to try to fraud you out of money. I have hired a car with Enterprise twice in my life. First time after I dropped it off I noticed some significant charges on my credit card. After enquiring they said that I hadn't returned the car. Eventually they agreed I had and refunded the fee. Second time it was through an RAC temporary car replacement scheme and after returning it I first was charged an erroneous £30 which was then refunded once I enquired, and then a couple of weeks after the hire I received a letter saying the car had a windscreen chip and gouged tyre, which it didn't. If you can't run the business profitably through the normal routes of hire charges, then increase your hire charges. Don't constantly cause customers grief by trying to con them out of whatever extra money you can

Untransparent use of personal data

When I went to collect the car, I was refused on grounds that I failed their data check. But they could not tell me what their problem with my data was. They referred me to the data company that Enterprise uses, who told me they are not happy with the calls they are getting from Enterprise customers referred to them, because they provide data and it's Enterprise who are responsible for what they do with the data. But Enterprise customer services could only repeat that I failed the data check and couldn't look at why. Completely untransparent use of personal data about people. Not acceptable.

I’d give a 0 star rating if it were possible.
I have been given the runaround all day long with this poxy company and still no hire car after being told when my car was taken in by recovery that someone would contact me very shortly from Enterprise to arrange my car hire . After my chasing them up this evening to be told they had only just been notified of (absolute bull) I will now have to wait until the next day therefore missing important hospital appointments today because of there incompetence. I do hope for their sake I receive the car tomorrow because if I don’t and have to do more chasing up with them I will be making a huge complaint to higher authority against them and seeking reasonable compensation, how they are allowed to be a business is beyond me they should be struck off .
