I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Evetech.

I bought a custom-built PC from them in December 2024, and within five months, the GPU failed due to “corrosion.” I replaced it myself (R1,099) and even added an extra fan (R249) and a R3,500 dehumidifier to protect the system. A few months later, the motherboard and CPU also failed for the same reason.

My office is 1 km from the beach, but it’s well-ventilated, with a dehumidifier running 12 hours a day, silica gel in the case, and no other electronics in the same room have ever failed — including another PC, router, TV, and gaming console.

Despite all this, Evetech kept blaming “environmental factors” and refused to take responsibility. They hide behind the manufacturer instead of honouring their duties under the Consumer Protection Act, which clearly says the supplier is responsible for providing quality, durable goods.

In total, I’ve spent R7,491.85 trying to fix issues that should never have happened in the first place.
If corrosion in less than a year is “normal,” then no one living on the South African coastline could ever own a computer.

Hi Michael,

A four-day gap before dispatch, then a delivery date that slipped from Friday to Monday, isn't the standard we're aiming for — sorry it played out that way. Appreciate you flagging it plainly.

Buying from Evetech is very convenient BUT SEND YOUR OWN COURIERS!
Gearup couriers gave me the worst service I’ve ever had. I strongly recommend that Evetech change to a better service provider.

Monster PC build

Bought all the parts for a custom build. The sales rep gave some good advice, for gpu stand, thermal past etc. After sales support was also good.

Extremely disappointed with Evetech’s customer service.

I had a return RMA scheduled for collection on 05/05/2025, which never happened. Worse still, I received no communication or updates whatsoever. I had to call them myself to find out what was going on—only to be told about courier issues after the missed date. No email, no SMS, nothing.

This isn't the first time, either. When the original order was delivered, I also had to follow up myself because there was no communication from their side.

Evetech is quick and responsive when taking your money, but the moment you need support—especially for a return—the service becomes shockingly poor. Rescheduling without notice, failing to communicate, and making the customer chase them is completely unprofessional.

Unless you’re 100% sure you won’t need any after-sales support, I strongly suggest staying away. This level of service is unacceptable, and I’ll be reporting the issue further if it’s not resolved immediately.

Evetech is the Worst Company I’ve Ever Dealt With

I am furious with the appalling service I’ve received from Evetech. For TWO YEARS, they failed to repair my laptop, despite hundreds of emails, countless follow-ups, and undeniable evidence of the issues. I wasted so much time and money driving back and forth, only to have my laptop returned to me UNFIXED every single time.

What makes this worse is their complete lack of accountability. They blame their warranty partner, Pinnacle, but the truth is that Evetech didn’t even send the laptop to them until the THIRD time it broke. Why was this not done earlier? Why did I have to fight so hard just for basic service?

Their negligence has caused me immense stress and inconvenience. I was forced to purchase a new laptop because they left me with no choice. I even have medical documentation from my psychologist and psychiatrist to prove how much this experience has affected my mental health.

I also have video evidence of the hardware fault, which I sent them—dated and undeniable—and they STILL ignored me. Where are the updates they promised? Where is the compensation for the stress, financial loss, and time I’ve wasted? This company is unethical, unprofessional, and a complete disgrace.

Evetech’s customer service is non-existent. Their Hellopeter and Trustpilot scores of 2.2/5 are no surprise—it’s shocking that they’re even in business. Future customers need to know what kind of company they’re dealing with. Evetech has wasted my time, my money, and my energy. Do NOT make the mistake of trusting them.

I have tried setting up meetings with management. Johann Bothma, who I believe is the manager, has been stalling and stalling. I am still trying to get help from him!

Avoid Evetech at all costs. They don’t deserve your business.

Stay away from Evetech

Stay away from Evetech. I've rate them 1 star but really it should be zero or negative 5. I am disgusted with their poor service, inefficiency and total disregard for me as a long standing customer.
My hp laptop issues have been going on for 2 years now. 4 weeks after purchase it glitches and had to go in. UNACCEPTABLE. It's been in 4 times now. Repeated failure to send to the correct service place. I am grossly disappointed with Evetech. They refuse to engage and keep fobbing me off to a different department. Going round in frustrating circles for 2 years is outrageous.

Scummy tactics and return/refund policy

I've been a loyal customer for years and have spend upwards of 100,000 with this company. You'd think you'd get a little more support about a headset that arrived literally covered in mould. But a simple refund is too much to ask I suppose.

Bad equipment sold

Bought a Lenovo laptop which failed and was returned. They replaced the memory and I had to collect it. It failed again and then they replaced the memory and hard drive and sent me an email that everything was 100%. I booted it and tested and it failed. Reported this to them and they told me not to use Lenovo testing but 2 other downloads. Now I didn't trust Lenovo so I ordered a Dell. Guess what, the Dell failed too. Sent the report back to them and they tell me to return the Dell to them. They refuse to accept responsibility for selling laptops that don't work. The support people are so unproffessional.

I ordered a PC from Evetech in early January, and unfortunately, I had an issue with the PSU. However, I must give full credit to Evetech for their exceptional service. They replaced the faulty unit without any hassle and did so promptly! The support team was incredibly friendly and patient, even with my frequent calls to check on the progress. A special thanks to Evan Fourie, who kept me updated every step of the way and made sure my PC was taken care of in good time. I’m truly impressed with the service and will definitely support them again in the future!

"Negotiate for a good price"

What kind rubbish shop says you should negotiate for a special price on their website instead of just running a good price. Not all of us have time to F around with the salesman all day. Now your item price depends on your ability to hustle.

Ordered a unboxed deal monitor which…

Ordered a unboxed deal monitor which was only a few hundred rand cheaper then the same exact one which is brand new. As I thought I could save a few hundred by ordering the unboxed deal one as it must be in amazing shape/as new being only a few hundred cheaper. The monitor was very expensive, over 6k , ASUS 1440p 170hz Agon monitor. Once the monitor arrived, I was shocked to see how dirty the box and actual monitor was. There was literally dirt on the monitor arm and dirt marks all over the screen. Had to wash my hands just from unboxing the monitor. Keep in mind this is a premium AGON monitor. I then realized that both the power cable and the display port cable was missing, which I was never informed about nor was it mentioned anywhere. I called them to report the missing POWER cable and display port, explaining to them that I can not use the monitor without the power cable. They asked me to just email them as they cant help over phone. So I emailed them, without any response. I them went to town to buy a power cable to test the monitor. And surprise surprise there is a dead pixel in the middle of the screen making the monitor almost unusable. I finally got a response from them 3 days later with just a link to file a return with bunch of terms and condition. I simply do not trust them enough to send the monitor back after reading all the T&C ,so I will take the loss on myself. But will never shop with them again. The least they could have done is give the monitor and packaging a clean, or just check if it was working atleast, or bare minimum just provide a description that says no power cable or display cable, dead pixel in center of the screen.

evetech getting orders wrong.

Apparently evetech has been around since 2007 and they still get orders wrong. Imagine getting all your components and excited to start building your new gaming pc just to find out that they send u the wrong atx chassis. Now I have to fill in a stupid online form and wait forever to get a replacement. I am absolutely pissed.

Terrible service

I bought an Asus laptop, and it arrived with the seal broken and the screen not working. When I requested an exchange, I was told that's not policy and that they would have to book a technician to examine the (brand new but faulty) laptop. But they couldn't tell me how long it would take, and when I called the support team they cut the call.

Evetech warranty in USELESS

I bought a Lenovo Legion 5 laptop from Evetech early 2023. A few months after owning it I started experiencing issues with the laptop. After taking it in for repairs was told that nothing is wrong. After arguing on the phone with the technician I received it back and all of a sudden was told that the drivers were out of date and it is in working condition. Exactly one week later I started experiencing the exact same issues. I was studying architecture at the time and could not afford to not have my laptop. Now jumping to 2024 I took it in again now suddenly my ram is rusted and it's due to spillage. There are no other damaged parts and they want to void my warranty and take no responsibility. Rust on ram can be caused by multiple factors including and not limited to factory defects and installation error. When I bought the laptop I also opted for upgrades that evetech install them selves which can also explain the damage to the ram due to neglectful installation of the ram that I paid extra for. The rust is also so old that it matches with the time that I took it in for the first repair so the spillage could be on their side aswell. It seems way to convenient that the problems that I am experiencing are the same as the last time I took it in and was told it is in working order but now it's caused by the one factor that voids my warranty. I am extremely unimpressed with this service and with the amount of money I paid. It seems that the technical team wants to take the easy way out and take no responsibility. I would not recommend evetech to my worst enemy.

Shocking service

Shocking service. Paid for a computer in full and got a response a week later stating that they were not able to source all the components on their quote - I needed to pay an additional R2,400. Then only the two components were sent and no computer. Evetech collected components and I won't get my R24K computer until 2 weeks after making payment as they need to wait for the components to be returned to them. No comprises - nothing! Just empty promises...

Selling items they do not have & refusing to refund money

Ordered and paid for a pricey headset - 2 days later was contacted to say they sold it to somebody else and have no stock but their websaite still shows in stock and available.

In addition they refuse to refund and only offer an "in store credit".

Not at all trustworthy Evetech is actively selling products they do not have and then refusing to refund money paid.
