Enrico is a super nice guy. He speaks very good English and was helpful through the entire trip. We have climbed Mt. Civetta and later did an off-piste to the bottom

Explore-Share introduced me to Mitja…

Explore-Share introduced me to Mitja who is a thorough and knowledgable guide, and I felt safe and well looked after during my two-day trip to summit Triglav, Slovenia.
I summited in January 2026 with a meter of snow on the summit (there was snow all the way to the Dom), so as it was a technical ascent, good rope skills were essential.
We worked together really well, and Mitja made sure all my needs were taken care of. I wouldn’t have found Mitja without Explore-Share. Thank you guys.
This was my first time using them and I will definitely consider using Explore-Share again for my next summit attempt.

Unhelpful company

All communication is via their terrible messaging system or via WhatsApp.
Sorting my trip was difficult, confusing and they were most unhelpful. They do not answer your questions.
However, input from the guide was prompt, succinct and helpful - but they are constrained by Explore-Share.
Prices are unclear - eg guide offers day rate in Euros, but they only tell you in GB pounds (and I am sure they use terrible conversation rate).
Explore share take approximately 5% of your fee - which is a lot for such a poor service.
They also choose to add an additional fee of circa £40 if you pay by Credit Card! Yet if you choose the bank transfer method using the account details they provide, then your bank gives you a fraud warning which is alarming.
My recommendation is try and use other companies - Explore Share are just an overhead and add nothing.

Reply from Explore-Share

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry that your experience felt frustrating and unclear, that’s not the experience we aim to provide.

We’d like to clarify a few points, while fully acknowledging that the process did not feel smooth from your perspective.

We offer several communication channels (platform messaging, email, and WhatsApp) to make it easier for travelers to reach us and their guide. In your case, we’re sorry if this felt fragmented or inefficient, and we’ll reflect on how this can be clearer.

On pricing: guides usually set their rates in their local currency. Travelers can choose their preferred payment currency. We understand that currency conversions can feel opaque, and this is an area where clarity is especially important.

Regarding fees: our service fee covers the work done behind the scenes, verifying guides and certifications, handling payments securely, supporting both travelers and guides before and after booking, and stepping in if anything goes wrong. The credit card fee reflects processing costs charged by card providers; for travelers who prefer not to pay this, we also offer bank transfer as an alternative, which many clients use successfully.

We’re glad to hear that your interaction with the guide was positive. We work closely with guides, but we also aim to give them space to focus on what they do best: guiding in the mountains.

We appreciate your feedback, even when it’s critical, as it helps us identify where expectations and reality don’t align. If you’d like to discuss this further, you’re welcome to contact us at bookings@explore-share.com.

Kind regards,
The Explore-Share Team

Perfect Climbing Day Trip

Had an enjoyable climbing experience in Odawara thanks to Cveto! Highly recommend climbing with him if you’re in Japan - would book him again the next time around.

Communication:
-Clear communication. He shared the when, where, and transportation info ahead of time. He picked me up from the train station, which was convenient.
-Very knowledgeable about the area and culture as he's made it his home base for many years.

Experience:
-Took 1.5 hour train ride to Odawara train station from Akasaka. Meet up with Cveto. Stopped by convenience store for food. Car ride was minutes from the station. Hike was about 20-25ish minute to the climbing spot.

Climbing:
-Gives the right amount of beta without taking away the satisfaction of figuring things out on my own.
-Went on a Friday and we basically had the place to ourselves except for like four other people.
-Rock was dry so had some grip. Not too hard but not too soft of a feel.
-Has variety of routes of varying difficulty. Did not do many as I would've hoped to since I was at the tail end of my trip to Japan and was exhausted.

Extra:
-Has a calm and straightforward demeanor. He literally calmly killed a ginormous Japanese hornet that kept flying around me with his flip flop as I'm terrified of hornets and just creepy bugs in general. Good vibe to have in general as climbing's a risky sport, haha.
-Went the extra mile to help set up my phone for the perfect video spot of my climb. His son is a photographer, so he has an eye for the right angles.

Good guides

I had a great time on my climbing day with Cveto. He was a great guy I felt immediately comfortable and enjoyed our chats. I was also cold and he let me borrow a jacket which was very kind. We went to a beautiful crag and did some climbing. Even when it started raining a bit we continued and switched to top rope for safety. Overall I enjoyed the day despite the weather as it was a new experience for me and the forest was beautiful.

I had the BEST experience on the…

I had the BEST experience on the Pyrenees, Aneto guided climb with David! As an avid hiker but someone completely new to mountaineering, I wasn’t sure what to expect—physically or mentally—but the whole day blew me away.

I’ve never climbed a mountain in my life (sorry, David!), but I’ve been wanting to venture into mountaineering for a long time. From the very beginning, everything was handled so well: communication beforehand, making sure I had the correct gear, setting the schedule, and walking me through what the day would look like. David even picked me up in the morning with extra rental equipment I couldn’t fit in my suitcase, and from there the adventure began.

I really appreciated that he set a comfortable, steady pace, pointing out sights along the way and sharing stories about the surrounding peaks and landscape. He’s such a genuinely kind person, and we had a great time chatting during the ascent. It must be an incredible job, and I have so much respect for people who train and do this regularly.

Since I had never used crampons or done any kind of ice climbing/hiking before, David made sure I was always clipped in and safe. He was incredibly patient any time I needed a moment to slow down or adjust. We also got unbelievably lucky with the weather—forecast said it would be terrible, but it turned into one of the most beautiful days I’ve ever seen. And because bad weather had been predicted, no one else was on the mountain. It was surreal. David said Aneto is normally packed during the season, with people lined up waiting to reach the summit, but we had the entire place to ourselves aside from a couple of hikers who arrived later. You could literally hear a pin drop. It felt like a dream.

I also kept asking to stop for photos (sorry again, David!) because the scenery was ridiculously stunning, and he was always happy to pause while I grabbed a shot. At the summit, he even shared some super good strawberry gummies with me to celebrate—such a small thing, but it made the moment even more awesome.

Overall, this was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. As a woman traveling alone, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and supported the entire time. I can’t recommend this climb—or these guides—enough. If you’re thinking about climbing Aneto in the Pyrenees, do it. Seriously. It was unforgettable.

Montserrat Guided Rock Climbing

My husband and I had such an amazing trip with Toti. He went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent experience. He picked amazing routes that were perfectly suited for our abilities. I was able to do my first multi pitch climb and rappel under his excellent instruction. His advice on the wall and encouragement was excellent. He ensured we got as many climbs in as we could possibly do and had an amazing energy and friendly nature the entire time. He is a wealth of knowledge and I would recommend him to anyone. He is an incredibly experienced guide and climber and made us feel safe the entire experience. The value for price is exceptional. My husband and I had a fantastic experience.

Japanese Alps Trekking 10/10

Our Japanese Alps trekking tour was fantastic! Hama was an excellent guide and made the experience so much better by handling all of the logistics and leading us through trails. He was flexible and allowed us to adjust our itinerary to accommodate our preferences and the weather. I would absolutely recommend a multi-day hut-to-hut Japanese Alps trek with this service!

Off season Fuji hike

Toru san took us on the most memorable trek up Fuji san. My husband wanted to climb Fuji on his 40th birthday and Toru made it extra special, he even made a cake for him when we reached the summit! Most importantly we felt safe and prepared. It was technically off season so we wanted to have a guide so we felt comfortable, he told us exactly what to prepare for and what to bring. It was challenging, but unforgettable.

Bolivia - cordirella Real

I hiked for 8 days in Cordirella Real, Bolivia in August 2025 with Jaime as my guide. I got in touch with Jaime through explore and share. The portal was quick in arranging everything, fees, dates and also updating change in dates. As a solo femake traveller, it felt very safe and secure.
I am a very avid trekker and have been to a number of little known places alone - often with a guide and the usual support of cook, mules etc. I can easily say, Jaime is the best guide I ever had. He made me very comfortable from day one, looked after me very well, fed and watered me so well that many times I walked belly full, he took me to places that hardly anybody goes to, caught fresh trouts for me after a long day hiking, encouraged me on difficult days and walked arm and arm with me while tackling nasty downhill steep screes in battering wind and scorching sun. I had the opportunity to spend two days at Tuni at his home which I will never forget. It was idyllic way to end the trek in the serene surroundings with the Alpacas, guinea pigs, Charly the cat, a big rabbit and ofcourse Jamie's family. Jaime loves Bolivia, his life and familia and he absolutely loves to show it to others. He is a very kind person and keen to share gear, chocolates, water with you. He also offered to carry my back pack once (of course I didnt let him). I had so much fun trekking with him, I was always smiling - even at 5300 m of Pico Austria. I met him as a guide but left him as a dear friend. I thank explore and share for having such a gem of a person on their website. Note: Jaime had some very good things to say about the portal. As someone living in a very remote part of Bolivia (Tuni), he feels explore and share has really helped him in getting in touch with people across the world. So ot seems a win win for all three parties involved.
I will use explore and share again and recommend it to other solo travellers. Its a shame I only came to know about them recently. I have provided more detailed review on tripadvisor :).

Climbing Mount Fuji with Cveto

Climbing Mount Fuji with Cveto was an unforgettable experience. I really enjoyed the climb itself and the well-balanced pace he set throughout the ascent. Cveto shared many fascinating stories along the way, making the journey not only physically rewarding but also inspiring.

We reached the summit safely in less than 4.5 hours, and I felt confident and comfortable the entire time. I truly enjoyed spending this time together and can highly recommend Cveto for climbs in Japan or anywhere else in the world.
