It couldn't find me apparently. I put exact information in and it brought up absolutely nothing on my existence so I would strongly question its validity.

Anyone can add or subtract any information whether it is accurate or not. Incorrect information is difficult to correct. There are many mistakes in relationships in my family information. Some children are assigned to the wrong parents when father and son have the same name and step children are listed as biological children. One branch of my family tree traces to the 1300's, but if my immediate family has mistakes how can distant past history be trusted?

I like the amount of information. I don't like that anyone can comment on any post with derogatory, fabricated information and when an immediate family member requests the comment be removed it is not. Your only resort is to comment back and are forced to participate in a "he said, she said," childish back and forth instead of the site responsibly deleting the first comment.

Poor website, draws you in with promise of being able to use for free but wont let you do anything without providing a ton of personal info

I would take anything of Family Search with a big pinch of salt,

I have tried many to login in my account because I had a new information on one of my family members but they won't let me into my account,also they got my family's info wrong.i do not want to refer anybody to this website.i don't like this website. It was good until up to a point that they lock me out of my own account

Your details on my family are compleat wrong!! My grandad was born in ENGLAND. and so were all my family!!

The software used by this company is inferior as well as their customer service. Some time ago I discovered that my parents had photos of my wife and I attached to their profile. There was no way I could correct it so I contacted customer service and they assured me they corrected the problem. Yesterday I go on there and discover the photo they used was just moved and that our wedding photo is still tagged as my parents. And to top it off, I do not even know the person doing the tagging. I am sure there are gobs of other mistakes on there as well. I am done with this company. Any moron can go on there and put anything they want. Beware!

I visited the family centre in Uk a few days ago ,
Whilst there I chatted to a member of the staff he mentioned his wife was related to Elvis Presley I jokingly said I’d love to have him in my tree.
Days later I’ve checked my famous relatives and would you believe it !
Elvis is now in my list of famous relatives as well as every us president. They are not trustworthy or serious about your genealogy ,I too have traced my line back to Adam & Eve which I now know is not possible , as a serious genealogist wrote that in 35 years he had NEVER come across anyone who could trace there line bak to the beginning .
I now have to go over my tree and erase all info gathered from this site. Waste of my time , please everyone stay away from this site .

A YEAR INTO WORKING ON MY TREE I LOGED IN ONE DAY IN MAY 2024 ONLY TO FIND MY TREE IS GONE A TOTAL ZERO IS WHAT I HAD LEFT ALL MY INFORMATION LOST FOREVER, DON"T USE THIS FREE SITE IT WILL ONLY FAIL YOU AND LET YOU DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

I've been using familysearch since it began and I love it. I love the Memories section - it makes my ancestors come alive. I have input photos, audio files and pdf files of family books, and lots more. I use familysearch in conjunction with other search sites to get a little better search engine and different records. I know people can mess with my tree, but I change it back the very few times I've discovered changes. However, I love it when people ADD to my records with information I didn't have. Familysearch is my favorite website.

Another highly reputable source for family history enthusiasts.

I was drawn to FamilySearch as it's free, and my husband was already paying a subscription for MyHeritage. I trusted it until it took me way back BC and to Adam and Eve, via plenty of royalty. Now I don't have any faith in it (well maybe for a few hundred years back) and I wonder if their whole point is to convert the world to Creationism.

You have been adding wrong people and missing correct people ou.t I am not a beginner I have been tracing my ancestry for 50 years and my Duckett line goes back to 1605 in Shropshire very disappointed your trees are not easy to fill with correct details am giving just one star so please remove my data before anyone copies the wrong info You had my Husbands Grandmother down as Elizabeth Ann Tuffner or something similar nshe was in fact DUFFY

HAHHAHAHA. Apparently I can tracy my genealogy back to 300 before christ - How can I believe that information is even real? I can't stop laughing. And reading the other comments from users saying they found to be related to Jesus and Mary hahahaha.

I'm so incredibly grateful to Family Search. In one day, I learned more about my family history than in my entire life. I found the exact towns several of my great-grandparents were from. I also found that my great-grandparents lived in the same building I always hang out in, and that I always felt a magnetic attraction to! I even made an offer for an apartment in the building right nextdoor and was in love with it without even knowing that family lived anywhere near there. It was the best feeling to find this family synchronicity and to know it will be possible to visit the towns of my origins. Many thanks to Family Search for this magical gift!

FamilySearch ignores the truth and allows false information to remain on its site. Have proof in the form of Superior Court depositions, that my father did not adopt a daughter in the 1940's, submitted the document to them but they ignore and allow another user to continue to post this erroneous information. Also, I have a certified document from the county vital statistics department stating no marriage exists between my father and some strange woman. I was required to prove that I was my father's son with a personal ID and birth certificate to obtain the certified document along with paying a fee. Again, this certified document was submitted to FamilySearch proving no marriage exists in the county where he lived but to this day allows the error to be published on their website. FamilySearch has a total disregard for documented truth.

Save yourself hours of frustration !
I know this is a nonprofit free site but your time and your sanity are certainly worth considering before you fumble around this site. Hours of work and poof gone with no clue as what caused it.

How can FamilySearch just alter my family tree with spurious entries through sloppy research? Some of their additions are just plain wrong which doesn't exactly fill one with confidence!

Terrible app. Cannot search images. Have to put up with graveyard ghouls who r no relation that want 2 change your family tree.
