****REVIEW UPDATED ON 5/11/2026 FURTHER DOWN****
Avoid Flogas if you value your time. A simple billing error has turned into a two-month fight, and the way they've handled it has been unacceptable.
On 7 August they took a direct debit from our account before the due date on the bill, while the account was already in credit. The amount is small (€4.58), but the principle isn't, and neither is the way they've dealt with it.
I first emailed on 12 August. What followed was a month of generic replies from a different agent each time, none of whom answered my actual question. I was told it was with a "banking team", then a "billing team", then "a workflow". Nobody took ownership. I had to chase over and over, and it was only after I phoned on 11 September to log a formal complaint that anyone looked at it properly. Flogas then admitted in writing that the direct debit should not have been taken. That should have been the end of it.
Instead it got worse. On 24 September they told me my complaint had been escalated and the Complaints Resolutions team would contact me within ten working days. Nothing. My follow-up on 9 October, with a deadline, was ignored. Another email on 15 October, which also went to their social escalations address, has had no reply either. Their own Code of Practice promises a response within 20 working days and regular updates if it takes longer. They have ignored their own promises at every step.
I have now had to involve the regulator (the CRU), who had to contact Flogas themselves just to find out where my complaint stood. That's how bad it's got.
An error this small should have taken one email to fix. Instead it has taken weeks of my time, countless emails and a call, and I still don't have a proper response. If you're a Flogas customer, keep a record of everything and be prepared to chase.
I cannot recommend Flogas.
Update:
I'm updating this review to reflect the outcome. After I posted it, Flogas's Social Escalations team contacted me and dealt with the matter professionally. In particular, I'd like to thank Shane, who was efficient, professional and diligent in looking into everything and bringing it to a conclusion. My complaint was formally upheld and closed. Flogas apologised, explained how the amount collected on 7 August had been calculated, confirmed that I will now receive one invoice with an accurate direct debit date, and applied a credit to my account for the service failings and the delayed response to my complaint. I'm satisfied with that outcome.
I'm keeping my 1-star rating, though, because of what it took to get there. I first reported the early direct debit by email on 12th August 2026. I received no resolution until I escalated the complaint myself, involved the CRU, and posted this review, more than two months later. Getting there was frustrating and very time consuming. It meant a phone call and repeated emails, chasing replies that never came, preparing a complaint for the CRU, and going over the same facts again and again with different people. Flogas's own complaints process sets out response timeframes, and these were repeatedly missed, including by the billing side of the business. A customer should not have to go to a regulator and a public review site to get a reply to a billing query.
I'm glad it was resolved in the end. My rating reflects the experience of getting there, and I would reconsider it if Flogas handled the first response to a complaint like this properly.

I was switching from SSE to Flogas, Oct 2026. They recorded the wrong meter reading by 100's of units. Ended up with €800 overcharge on my final bill with SSE. Their customer service was appalling. While trying to resolve the issue I easily could talk to SSE directly and quickly whilst I was repeatedly dumped out of queues by Flogas and passed amongst departments. Their follow up was days later. I cancelled the switch as they didn't resolve this quickly and I'm still picking up the pieces after them! Avoid them even if you think they're cheap it's not worth the time and effort to get a simple issue resolved. Even though Flogas have said they have returned my Gas account to SSE I'm still waiting inclined to believe they haven't. Gill. G will reply once but offer no follow up or actual practical help.
Your reply blames me! Nice, unexpected! Very conciliatory.
Update: I’m still waiting weeks later for Flogas to return my account to SSE and now just received an email with an updated account number. So they lied when they said my account was closed

I was with Flogas 4 or 5 years ago, and I was perfectly happy with them; the reason I left was that someone came to my door and offered me a better deal. I’ve been with them for a few weeks now

I had a complaint with Flogas that went on for 4 months, without being resolved .During this time I made numerous phone calls.
I finally received an Email from Shane Flogas and got a five-star response.
Problem finally solved in two days.

Absolutely terrible company to deal with!
I had Solar PV installed in April & have STILL not received any export Credits, Its now October!!
Coming into Winter now & I am relying on those credits to reduce my bills.
Numerous phone calls & numerous emails sent all not responded to. Keep being told its Escalated!
Official Complaints raised & not responded to within their own agreed timeframes.
This company has no interest in Customer Satisfaction. Looking forward to moving from them when my contract is up!
