As a renter, one of the worst estate agents out there

I was a renter through Foxtons Chiswick branch for 3 years - frankly I have lost track of the amount of things they were terrible at. Firstly, the letting agents and property managers we dealt with were consistently rude and inefficient, taking weeks sometimes to respond to household issues we raised through the portal, including large issues such as a leak or a blown in back gate which was a security risk, and whenever we chased this we were met with unbelievable levels of rudeness. I even had to reprimand our property manager at one point for repeatedly misgendering a fellow renter, even though we had informed her politely, in writing, of their pronouns multiple times. The Accounts department are also an utter joke, unable to do basic arithmetic - at one point we would get an email nearly every month saying our rent was 'in arrears' (it never was, always paid on time and in full) with a totally random number attached; whenever we queried this, they would simply say it was a mistake and not to worry, only to have it again multiple times. It hardly inspires confidence when these are the people taking your hard-earned money every month. I could go on, but frankly we'd be here all day. I even had to chase them after moving out to release the deposit funds they'd agreed, to, simply because this hadn't been actioned. DO NOT RENT FROM FOXTONS. Not a single professional amongst them.

The worst experience

We have rented through Foxtons before and recently re-let a property through their New Malden branch. Unfortunately, the experience has been very disappointing. We raised a few complaints regarding issues with the letting, but there has been no communication or follow-up from the team. The lack of responsiveness and customer care has been very frustrating. Based on our experience, I would not recommend using this branch.

Unprofessional and Disrespectful Agent

This agent is completely unprofessional.
The deadlines they set are totally unreasonable, and they show no respect for the buyer at all.
Everything is arranged only to benefit themselves, leaving the buyer at a disadvantage.
Their way of communicating makes the buyer feel uncomfortable and undervalued.
I would not recommend working with them.

Foxtons Camden

Be extremely cautious if you are selling or renting out a property through Foxtons Camden. In my experience, they will take every opportunity to charge extortionate fees and will not hesitate to rip you off if they can. Their focus is entirely on making money, not on providing fair or supportive service to their clients.

If you do choose to deal with them, be very vigilant. Scrutinise every detail of the contract and look closely at the fees they are charging you — hidden costs and unexpected charges can easily creep in. They do not act in your best interest, so protect yourself and don’t assume they’ll be transparent.

I would strongly recommend considering alternative agents who treat their clients with more honesty and respect.

As a landlord I have incurred such poor…

As a landlord I have incurred such poor service from Foxton, they are quick to take the management fee and actually not work for it or provided a good service, so I ended up having to manage things my self and malaise with tenants. Communication is very poor, they don’t inform you where money is being deducted and why. The checking out report is extortive and does not have any holding, tenants can still contest things, which has cost me and left me out of pocket. There has been a lot of back and forth. I just need to get rid of Foxtons and not deal with them any more for my peace of mind. They cause more stress than required.

Unbelievable and unsupportive

This letting agency had lied to me and my family in regards to renting. Told us landlord is abroad and unable to reach for refund. I should go small claims court at my expense when I was paying Foxtons the rent. They should be the ones to refund in me and go claim from the criminal of a landlord. I don’t understand how they represent criminals. Foxtons are quick to close deals and take monies but very bad after care. One months rent to be refunded and it’s been almost 5 months now. Everytime we call the office for the matter the manager is anway or unavailable. Unbelievable! This is Woking Foxtons. I would if able to give less than a star.

A huge disappointment from start to finish

Our experience with Foxtons has been nothing short of frustrating. From the very beginning, communication was poor. Before moving in, emails went unanswered or delayed, and once we raised urgent issues like a serious mold problem, it was not addressed in a timely manner. We also went without heating for weeks in the winter before finally being given a few space heaters as a stop-gap.

To make matters worse, our first property manager left without any notice to us, and all our outstanding maintenance requests were simply canceled. We only discovered this much later, when problems we thought were being handled never materialized into any action. The lack of transparency was shocking.

Now at the end of our tenancy, the same pattern continues. Communication around move-out procedures and expectations has been confusing and inconsistent. Despite confirming our account information weeks ago, our deposit still hasn’t been returned.

Overall, this has been the most stressful rental experience we’ve had in London. The combination of poor communication, neglect of basic maintenance, and unacceptable delays with deposit returns means I would never rent from Foxtons again.

We had a terrible experience Short Let

We had a terrible experience with a short let arranged through Foxtons UK (Hampstead office, with Kate Targosz).

We booked and paid 100% in advance (plus deposit and charges) for a one-month flat, based on the photos and discussions. What we found on arrival was shocking: the flat was dirty, full of cobwebs, poorly equipped, and completely unsuitable. The bedroom was tiny with a bed that could not fit two people, the kitchen lacked even basic utensils, and the sheets provided were stained. Despite “proof” of professional cleaning, it was clear from the photos we shared with Kate that the flat had not been cleaned properly.

The landlord himself had to run out to buy essentials like pillows, saucepans, and a bin after we arrived. My wife even developed allergies from the dust on the very first night. We had no choice but to move into a hotel and cut our holiday short.

Foxtons’ handling of this was appalling. Kate was dismissive, aggressive, and completely sided with the landlord. When I said we were leaving and offered to hand over the keys, her response was “perfect” – because they had already collected their commission and rent. She refused to acknowledge termination of the tenancy, insisted we were still liable until 12 October (even though we stayed only one night), and is withholding our deposit.

This was a mis-sold property, unfit for the purpose it was let for, and Foxtons has shown no accountability or care for its customers. They have tarnished their own brand with this experience.

We are seeking a full refund of the deposit and rent for the weeks we never stayed, but so far Foxtons has refused. A truly awful experience – we will never use them again and strongly advise others to avoid their short-let services.

I had the pleasure of working with Asim…

I had the pleasure of working with Asim Chaudhry, during my home search, and I can confidently say he is one of the most dedicated and professional real estate agents I have ever met.

From the very first conversation, he demonstrated attention to detail, punctuality, and a genuine commitment to understanding my needs, always providing clear and tailored solutions. Communication was flawless – quick, transparent, and thorough responses, no matter the time or day.

I truly appreciated his patience and availability, as well as the way he explained every step of the process, making me feel safe and well-informed. On top of that, his remarkable negotiation skills ensured that my best interests were always protected.

He is the kind of professional who does not just do his job but goes above and beyond with passion and genuine care for his clients. I strongly believe that his hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance deserve to be recognized at a managerial level, and he would be an excellent candidate for a promotion within the agency.

I wholeheartedly recommend Asim Chaudhry to anyone looking not only for a new home but also for a truly positive, secure, and efficient real estate experience.
Thank you Asim Chaudhry for everything.

I feel that the experience was negative

I put my flat up for sale with my Foxtons, I was going to go with another agent but they were very pushy and said how they managed to sell better than anyone so I went with them. I was under the impression my flat would go straight up but after I signed the contract it took them 2 weeks to take photos and put them up, in the meantime they put up a video of the flat from a mid-term inspection where it looked absolutely disgusting. I had never seen this video and I don't see why it would be allowed to be put up without my permission, I asked for it to be removed, they didn't and it took them nearly the 2 weeks to remove it. The photos they took were adequate but not particularly great, I was pretty disappointed. I felt that the price was extremely over inflated (like all their prices) but respected they knew better than me, but when every single person gave feedback that it was way overpriced and no one showed any interest I became quite embarrassed. I found it very hard to contact my sales agent and just gave up most times after leaving numerous messages. I heard from my agent 10 times more before I signed with them than I did during my contract. When I gave notice 28 days before the end after having no interest, I was reminded how they are the number one and warned that going to another agent would not solve the issue. Their commission is so much more than everyone else but I feel my experience with their sales agent was extremely poor and I can't believe I had no interest in my nice flat. I feel I made a mistake going with them and would caution anyone thinking of them. Also I rented my flat with them for nearly 2 decades and my last tenant emailed them notice which they said they did not receive until the next day so they extended the end date to one day beyond the end of the month, they then charged me a management fee of £9 for the one day (and she paid £1 something rent for that one day). I will never rent with them again due to the complete lack of transparency with regards to money. (As for the excuse that the housing market is quiet I put my other property up for sale at the same time and it sold within 2 weeks, but then again the photos were really good and the price was reasonable).

Fantastic experience

I had a fantastic experience with Foxtons. Despite a challenging market, they secured a buyer for our property within just two weeks of listing. The team was highly organised, professional, and—most importantly—extremely responsive. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and approachable, which gave me real peace of mind throughout the process. When you’re under pressure to sell and move things forward, that level of support and responsiveness makes all the difference. I would highly recommend Foxtons.

Our experience with Foxtons has been Disappointing and Unfair

Our experience with Foxtons has been appalling. We dealt with Oram Ohene-Djen, our letting negotiator, who from the very beginning was unhelpful, dismissive, and often gaslighting us whenever we raised concerns. Instead of supporting us, he downplayed delays, avoided giving clear answers, and left us constantly uncertain.

We paid our deposit and first month’s rent, signed contracts, and completed every step in good faith; only to discover after moving in that because of an unresolved HMO issue, the landlord may now force us to leave after just six months, despite having signed a one-year tenancy. How was this not checked and confirmed before Foxtons allowed the tenancy to proceed?

This is unprofessional, careless, and completely unfair to tenants and home owners who depend on Foxtons for transparency and due diligence. We feel misled and let down at every stage.

Foxtons must be held accountable for putting tenants through this kind of ordeal. I would strongly warn others to be extremely cautious when dealing with them.

AVOID FOXTONS Canary Wharf PLEASE

When returning the deposit they will try every method to be picky on your cleaning and FORCE you to use their cleaning even if you clearly refused. We have already asked professional cleaner to complete end of tenancy cleaning, but Foxtons still booked their £350 cleaning for the whole property ignoring our willingness. They said they saw flies in the kitchen but when we left there weren’t anything like that. We also closed all the doors and windows. The only chance for the flies to come in is when they inspected the flat. It’s ridiculous that they counted this as our fault due to cleaning. The glue on the bathing tub is also old and turns black. They said this was mould but our cleaner just can’t remove it saying it was due to aging. They should just replace it instead of using this as an excuse to force people use their cleaning. When they have something to get help from you they will keep ringing you and email to disturb your life without any politeness, but if you want to ask them for help and request something they will never reply to you.
NEVER NEVER use Foxtons is purely scam

Terrible experience

Terrible customer service. In my time as a landlord and Foxtons customer (Shepherds Bush branch), I had a very negative experience.
Key issues I encountered:
- Agreed rental price dropping the day before tenancy started
- Very unclear or even inaccurate statements that caused a huge amount of stress; the statements shared with me didn’t show the discount I had been promised nor the correct balance (float carried over from previous tenancy)
- Their portal showed fees I shouldn’t have been charged
- The above required me chasing for weeks for the statements to be rectified and shared with me (still not happened to this day)
- I had to pay all letting fees upfront which meant no or little income for the first two months, whilst I was still paying for mortgage and bills
- Messaged the lettings manager (won’t mention their name in public out of respect) multiple times requesting support but was completely ignored despite explaining how stressed and frustrated I had become

I appreciated the effort of specific individuals like Samantha and Georgie to support me, but unfortunately despite their efforts that still resulted in an awful experience for me.

Customer experience is about how a company makes you feel and Foxtons made me feel anxious, upset, undervalued as a customer and ultimately very stressed.

I will avoid this agency in the future at all costs.

Foxtons Notting Hill-a bad experience

I entered into an agreement to purchase a lockup garage from Foxtons in Notting Hill. I was clear that I wanted to store goods not a vehicle in it. Only at exchange was my solicitor informed that there was a covenant on the garage that it could only be used for a car. Foxtons had been told this in writing by the seller but decided not to inform me. They then were overly rude and unpleasant when I said they had not acted professionally.
