We hired a car on Easter Sunday from Girona airport for a couple of days. The process was easy and the lady at pick up was friendly and professional.
Our car was pretty much brand new as only had 37km on the clock. It was a great car although these new electric ones beep at you constantly which in some cases is unnecessary and distracting.
Upon return, we parked up and a lady came to do the handover. She was also friendly, polite and professional. We appreciated her help at pointing out the local hotel as we were very early for our flight.

Generally I am happy about my experience. The only thing the car had given me dirty outside and inside. And the car tank for windshield wiper was empty. These are minor but solvable problems. Apart from that, the staff were very quick and helpful.I booked a premium rental and the €200 deposit I paid for fuel was refunded immediately upon returning the vehicle. Renting price was normal. I will rent a car from your company again next time.Thanks a lot

Very good experience overall (new car, ready on time, check-in and return were simple and easy).
At the airport, the shuttle wait was longer than announced (I waited 30 minutes instead of the 15 minutes announced). Relatively to other car rentals such as K10, RecordGo, etc. the shuttle service was less regular in my experience.

We purchased additional cover and had zero issues with getting the deposit back.
Beware the car park has lots of potholes but you can avoid these if you drive carefully!

Prices were ok. I got back the fuel deposit after the drop off in a few minutes. My problem was the car. They didnt have my category, they gave me a “free upgrade “ to a bigger car that I didn't want , also it was in a bad condition , many damages. It was also a dirty car , without carplay or any parking sensors. It was a C3 , wasn’t nice to drive it..

I rented a car (Mini Countryman) and my experience was very negative.
First of all, I had to wait حوالي 1 hour to pick up the vehicle, even though my reservation was for 8:00 AM. In the end, I received the car around 9:30 AM.
Additionally, the car had obvious issues: the tires were underinflated and the engine oil level was low. As a mechanic at BMW, I can clearly recognize when a vehicle lacks proper maintenance, and this one definitely did.
Despite this, I took the car, but I had to return shortly after to have the tires inflated. Later that same day, due to safety concerns and lack of confidence in the condition of the vehicle, I decided to return it early, as there was a real risk of engine damage due to the low oil level.
Even though I returned the car the same day, I was charged for two full days, even though the agreed return time was the following day at 10:00 AM. I find this charge completely unjustified.
In summary, the vehicle was not in a suitable condition to be rented, and the service provided was poor. I do not recommend this company.

Sharing our negative experience with GoByCar.
GoByCar offer car hire for what appears to be a reasonable price. Their parking area (Seville office) is well set up with toilets and seating areas and their staff are polite. However overall, we had a very negative experience with them that spoiled what was otherwise a lovely holiday in Andalusia. They refused to return our deposit after the car broke down. Their explanation was that ‘it was working when it left here so it must have been your fault’
We’ve set out below some advice based on our experience with GoByCar so you can make an informed decision and arrive prepared.
1) Be prepared for the extra insurance hard sell. We were told on arrival that the existing insurance ‘covered basically nothing’ This is not true, the basic level of insurance has an excess of EUR790.
We were then strongly encouraged to take out full insurance for an additional EUR 25 per day – which would have more than doubled the cost of the car hire. GoByCar offered to discount this to EUR 15 per day. That still amounted to EUR 270.
TIP - Make sure you understand what insurance is and is not covered in the car hire agreement before you arrive.
TIP - Consider taking out your own third-party excess insurance before you pick up the car. We did this and it cost us around EUR 45 for the trip. Obviously, if there is any claim on your deposit by GoByCar, then you will have to pay it and then claim it back from the other insurer.
2) Be prepared for GoByCar to try to retain some or all of your deposit.
We were, at first, told we would have to pay EUR 130 for a small scratch on the rear of the wing mirror. Luckily, we had a photo showing the scratch was there when we collected the car.
AND, as mentioned above, our original car broke down after driving only 250km. We were charged the full amount of our deposit for this. The breakdown was due to a clutch failure. A clutch is an item that wears out over time, not something that fails within 250km (bearing in mind the car had 49,000 km on it at collection). We’ve owned and driven manual cars for over 40 years and never had a clutch failure before.
TIP - Take pictures of EVERYTHING including the condition of the inside of the car to avoid the risk of being charged for damage that you didn’t cause.
TIP - Leave plenty of time between dropping your car and catching your flight so you have time to attempt to resolve any issues if they arise.
TIP - Know how to complain. There are 2 complaints forms.
- The internal complaints form. This goes to the GoByCar customer services. This is the one we were offered when we asked to complain.
- The official Andalusia administration complaints form. This second one allows you to submit your complaint to the Andalusian administration if your complaint is not resolved in 2 weeks. We were not offered this one until we specifically asked.
As things currently stand, we have been unable to resolve this with GoByCar customer services and are starting the process of making a formal complaint about this to the Andalusia administration.
I was offered an interesting upgrade and had a chance to be the first customer to use rented car. It was a pleasure to use Gobycar. Front desk office was very helpful. Renting and returning the car was super smooth and easy.

Staff have always been great. My only issue was finding a dent and scratches on the car the morning after collection. Very confused as to what I had done.
This worried me for the whole of my holiday. It would be helpful if they told you before collection that it was already there.
