SELLERS BEWARE of GOODLONDON. Look before you leap!
Clearing out my mother’s walk-in wardrobe I discovered GoodLondon. I sent off photos of a few items and set up an appointment. They bought most of what I brought and I was impressed by the thoroughness of their inspection. I ended up selling most of her clothes to them and admit that I, being totally naive about it accepted what I believed that this very nice woman offered me as being a fair price. At the very end I dropped off a black crocodile frame bag in almost perfect condition, for which they offered me £20!! Whilst waiting to pick it up I saw a couple of my items and thought I’d take a look at what they were retailing them for….£20 cost for £120 retail, a £50 -£60 cost ( those being the highest prices I received ) selling for £650!! I emailed the owners stating just how disappointed I was in their ethics and was told that a 20%-30% markup was normal ( whose maths were these!) and that I could go up to the shop and check out the prices and they would see if any adjustment should be made. It was a harrowing enough experience to sell her clothes and seeing £20 for £120 was the norm and with 2 shops I decided against it. I was foolish, but nobody else should make the same mistake without being aware of the pitfalls. Please SELLERS BEWARE, check the items in the store and see what they are retailing for and then ask for a fair price!
