This bank does not work with the…
This bank does not work with the customer. They do not work diligently to solve fraud claims they want to close case without a good investigation and do the best they can to not credit back your money. Plus go with a bank thats customer service center can speak English. you practically have to do the investigation yourself. Just terrible.
Unacceptable Handling of Customer Funds
Try to avoid at all costs. I attempted to set up Apple Cash for my daughter, and something went wrong in the process. As a result, the bank transferred the money from my daughter’s account into my account. When we contacted customer support, we spent over two hours on the phone and received completely inconsistent information from every representative we spoke with. Ultimately, nothing was resolved. They were unable to transfer the money back to my daughter’s account, which is especially weird given that they were the ones who moved the funds in the first place but anyways we asked for the money to be returned and refunded from the initial card that it was transferred from and they said that it was impossible. Lastly we asked to be given a check for the money that was lost and they were also unable to do so. On top of nothing being resolved, the representatives were rude and dismissive. They repeatedly told us not to interrupt while they were speaking, yet would not allow us to fully explain the situation. Later in the call, they even claimed that we were being “rude” for reasons that were nonexistent. I initially thought this might have been an isolated experience, but after reading other reviews, it’s clear this is a terrible bank with consistently poor customer service.
Green Dot does nothing when your credit…
Green Dot does nothing when your credit card number is stolen. They will not replace the money. WORTHLESS.
This a terrible card please don't…
This a terrible card please don't purchase this card
They don’t even deserve 1 star
I am submitting this complaint to formally document my extremely poor experience with Green Dot Bank and its customer service practices.
After upgrading to a new iPhone, I attempted to set up my Apple account and complete the required identity verification using my government-issued ID. During this process, the Green Dot app froze. I exited the app to refresh it, and upon returning, my account was locked. It has remained locked since that time.
Because the app states that account access issues must be resolved by calling customer service, I contacted Green Dot for assistance. I was informed that my account would be reviewed “in the future,” with no timeframe provided. I was also given no explanation, no escalation path, and no actionable steps to resolve the issue or regain access to my account.
Most concerning is that customer service could not explain how the account could be unlocked. I was not seeking the reason for the lock; I was seeking a resolution. None was provided. The lack of transparency, accountability, and urgency is unacceptable.
As a result of this unresolved issue, I am unable to use Apple Pay via iMessages or share Apple Pay with my family or minor child, despite Apple Pay functioning properly with my other debit cards. This has caused unnecessary inconvenience and disruption to my ability to manage payments.
Overall, this experience reflects a serious failure in customer service standards, communication, and issue resolution. The absence of clear timelines, escalation options, and effective support demonstrates a disregard for customers and their access to essential financial services.
I expect a clear explanation of the steps required to unlock my account and a reasonable timeframe for resolution.
This platform is nothing but a joke
This platform is nothing but a joke, I had to call in over 20 times to speak to different representatives because one representative would verify my information and then the next one wasn’t able to verify my information when I was calling in. They ended up closing my clients checking account due to “fraudulent activity”. They asked for documents that my client sent in multiple times like articles of corporation and they still decided to close the account. I do not recommend Quickbooks checking or green dot for anyone run far away the representatives are not helpful. They will not transfer your call to a supervisor. It’s just super unprofessional and I pray that they go out of business soon.
They are the worst. Customer service sucks. Had to create an account just to speak to someone and they told me ohh well. Out $300.
Worst customer service. Cant activate a card I bought. Out $300.
Avoid
Avoid! I was gifted a card from them (my mom thought it was a regular visa), misplaced and forgot about it. Found it, and it was never activated but was now expired. I called them and they said they could only help if I provided a receipt of the card! Mind you it’s been months and I told them I have the physical card but they were no help!
Green Dot Customer service was…
Green Dot Customer service was terrible. I would never buy a Prepaid Debit Card or any card or service from them again.
On 10/28/25, I bought a $75 reloadable Visa Green Dot card for my 11-year old granddaughter believing that I could to gift to her and reload funds whenever I wanted to. When I started to activate the card, I discovered that it required social security numbers (SSNs) and other personally identifiable information that I felt uncomfortable providing for a minor. After reading the information on the packaging as well as that inside the package, it was clear to me that I had made a mistake. If I had read the information more closely, I would have known that the card must be activated by someone over 18 years of age and the activation requires the identity verification to include the SSN. Further, I would have known that Walmart does not provide refunds for this card. On October 29th, I sent an email to greendot advocacy and customer service along with a copy of the receipt asking to cancel the card and obtain a refund minus a reasonable handling/processing fee. I waited for two weeks and never got a response. On November 9, 2025, I sent a letter to their company address in Chester, Ohio. I provided images of the card, a purchase receipt, the October 29th email and my contact information. Here it is, 45 days later, not a word. Not so much as a "kiss my ---". If I had read any of the reviews about Green Dot, I never would have considered buying anything they offered. I would never consider gifting this unactivated card to a friend or relative -- maybe to an enemy.

hey do NOT properly perform due diligence for their customers. I received a scam email asking me to move money into an account at GO2BANK (owned by same company as Green Dot) which was clearly not vetted. Beware dealing with anyone who has an account here--make sure you KNOW who they are, or ask to send money someplace else.
I wouldn't even give them one star
I wouldn't even give them one star. my son died August 2 2025 and he had 600 on a Walmart card which green dot bank holds the money . well they asked me for the death certificate proff of id which was mine and my son's my court papers stating I am the administrator and another paper I had to have noterised which I gave them all of this not ones but twice . they were to put a hold on the account since my son was dead . when I called to dispute charges they tell me that the charges were authorized even though he was DEAD. to top it of they sent a card to his old address which was a homeless shelter. now they are telling me they aren't refunding my son money . so they are in my words stealing from a customer. do you think Walmart will help me no they said they could just to get me off the phone . green dot bank is a rip off company that is taking the money from a dead man instead of returning it to the estate . #greendot bank scamers
I only put a start because I was…
I only put a start because I was required to I wouldn't have even given them half a star these thieves will steal your money you going to buy a car at a Dollar General and they can't even refund you but they won't open your account saying that they don't have enough information then you have to use it as a gift card you can't get your money back you can't use it anywhere it's restricted these are a piece of garbage is what they are I wouldn't even buy it for the plastic that it comes in they are thieving people thieving their thieves
$30 gift card
I purchased $30 gift card for a friend. Before they could use it, a fee if $7.95 was taken! Absolutely horrible way to do business.
I am giving Green Dot Bank 1 star…
I am giving Green Dot Bank 1 star because they completely failed to protect me as a customer. I was unknowingly scammed by a company that does not even exist, and I provided Green Dot with every piece of evidence — screenshots, emails, receipts, and proof that the business was fraudulent.
Despite this, Green Dot refuses to refund my money or take responsibility. Their lack of support shows that they do not protect their customers in any way. I trusted them with my money, and they ignored clear proof of fraud.
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. No bank should allow scammers to access funds so easily and then deny help when a customer becomes a victim. Green Dot needs to take fraud cases seriously, improve their dispute process, and actually stand behind the people who bank with them.
Get customers off the phone: Green Dot customer service
Green Dot Bank manages and provides services for Apple Cash. On October 30, I made four calls to Green Dot/Apple Cash customer service team, totaling 70 minutes, in an unsuccessful attempt to transfer money from my Apple Cash account to my bank.
I've done this many times, but last night the transfer failed repeatedly because of an inexplicable Address Verification Failure.
The address on the Apple Cash card agrees with the address on my bank card, so the address verification should have been successful.
None of the four reps i spoke to was able to help. Nor were the supervisors they consulted during the calls. It was not until I spoke with the fourth rep that I was given enough information to identify the problem.
It is twofold: 1) although the address is correct on my virtual Apple Cash card, it is incorrect in the Green Dot database; and 2) my address cannot be corrected because the Green Dot database does not recognize it as valid.
It is a technology problem, which I explained to rep #4. He or his supervisor should have engaged the technology team on the call but paid no attention to that suggestion.
In terms of a solution, rep #4's supervisor recommended that I get a new mailing address. With the exception of rep #4, I would describe the Green Dot approach to customers is "get them off the phone."
I am entirely skeptical about using Apple Cash as a result. I write to them next.,
Worst Customer Service experience of my life
I have a Greendot Bank account linked to my Intuit Quickbooks account. A transaction has been pending for almost a month. After several attempts to try and get this resolved and after spending more than 4 hours on the phone just to get the issue escalated, I have yet again been informed that there is no issue. Will never use them again. Update: Even though the tx showed as pending on my banking app, it was eventually processed, but only on my side. I had to spend another hour on the phone with Intuit Quickbooks to get the tx allocated to my Merchant Account. Overall bad customer service from GreenDot Bank, so I am not changing my rating.
I need bank statements for my business
I need bank statements for my business. I can only find the last 18 on their website. When I called them, they told me they could send it to me by mail, but they never did. I have been waiting for a few months. I tried contacting them again, but I wasn't able to reach them.
Wish I could give negative stars
Wish I could give negative stars. Call reps do not help just a scam of running you in circles. Just like the rest of the reviews in here as long as you never have a problem with a dispute you should be good to go. HOWEVER if you do have a dispute problem DO NOT expect it to be resolved. I provided multiple forms of how I did not receive a refund and called so many times for them to still not help. I've been banking with them 3 years again never had a problem because I used the card for bills that didn't need refunding. The one time I used it and need help I did not get it. PLEASE DONT BANK HERE. No customer loyalty.
They don't deserve our money or business!!!!!! @fdicgov @betterbusinessbureau_
Terrible card
Terrible card, charging monthly fees, unable to cancel through account online. My balance is in the negative and still haven’t been able to get rid of this account, do not get this card!
the card is not $2 it's $10
I paid $2 for this card in Walgreens. The card says a monthly fee of $8. I planned on spending the money before a month so I could bypass the fee and they charge me the fee the next day!!!!!!!
I call customer service to ask for refund and he says no.
I told him that they are a scam because the card did not say upon activation you'll be charged $8 it says monthly $8 fee and he tells me "it's not possible to print everything on the card"!! are you kidding me??? he literally admitted that this is a scam but don't want to refund me. just disgusting.
we literally should file a class action lawsuit against this disgusting "bank" because I'm 1,000% positive that they get a phone call about this issue every single day.
