Having waited a little longer than expected for an exchange, the matter was quickly resolved once it was brought to the attention of a manager. The quality of their products is top draw.
Purchased monk shoes a few months ago, and due to very soft leather in toe cap and seemingly no stiffeners, it developed a crease on the very tip of the toe box (very unusual!). In terms of care, the shoes are sized correctly for my feet and I used shoes trees and occasionaly polished. Raised with customer service but they refused this was a quality issue and would not offer and refund/replacement. Very disappointing considering the shoes £169 retail price tag. Not something I have every had on my many pairs of smart shoes from a number of manufacturers.

I ordered a pair of tan wingtip brogues for £96, which looked beautiful online. Unfortunately, the shoes arrived damaged. For a brand that presents itself as premium, this was extremely disappointing.
The packing was excellent, but the product itself was not fit for sale. I contacted customer service just over an hour of delivery and it took over two days to even get a reply. When they did respond, I had to go through multiple emails, and provide extra photos, and I am expected to wait two weeks for a full refund .
I’ve since had to return the shoes at my own inconvenience. For a company with such a long history, I expected far better standards of quality control and customer service.
Based on this experience, I will not be ordering from Hawes & Curtis again.

First order, first mistake, first and last shirt!
How I wish I'd read these reviews first. Received the shirt ok, not as blue as it looked, but the fit, XL Standard Fit, is terrible. I'm 6ft, medium build, weigh 14stone. The shoulder/arm seam sits on top of my shoulder and the sleeves are nearly tight on my biceps and forearm. I'm no gorilla or even muscular, but this is ridiculous! Awful fit after drawing the line under dropping quality from CT I expected better for £40, £35 +£5 for delivery.
So with their 'warehouse' fee of £3 it's cost me eight quid to find out they mis-describe their sizes and send out close cut cheap cotton shirts! Not happy.
They also state you need to wrap the shirt 'as it was'! You're kidding me!
Tried to phone 4times. Horrible American woman accent. Four times it cuts off after ten minutes!
AVOID THIS AMATEURISH BUNCH - READ THE BAD REVIEWS, YOU COULD BE NEXT! Edit order no.3606561

The quality of their linen shirts are truely appalling. Ten or so wears in and the shirt is literally falling apart at the seams. It's as if the fabric is as weak as toilet paper.
I wish I'd read Hawes & Curtis Trustpilot reviews before making a purchase. Hawks & Curtis are not a premium brand.
It's a shame I can't post photos on this review as the photos would speak for themselves.
I cared for this shirt, washed is delicately, didn't tumble dry it. I remain astonished how fragile and weak the fabric and stitching is.
I've unsubscribed from their horrible spammy and annoying emails and I will have nothing further to do with this terrible clothing company.

Clothes were good. But just the amount of plastic and paper packaging of individual shirts was ridiculous. Plastic around the collars and plastic clips seems a waste as they are thrown out and the shirt goes straight in the washing machine. Plus if the shirt is the wrong fit do you have to put all back together again to return. Even though liked cloths won't be buying when some of the world is trying to reduce single use plastics.

All suits make you select a leg size, then tell you you cannot return trousers that do not fit. Do not order online, this is a total scam. Apparently leg 34 waist 34 trousers are 'custom made', even though they are clearly stock (and why wouldn't they be at those measurements?). Has left me out of pocket, and I will never shop from them again.

I received four shirts that had a different collar type to the ones I ordered. After speaking to someone on the phone I was advised to place a new order on which they would add a note as to which collar type was needed. Paying another £6.95 for delivery I received the new order the next day, incorrect again. There seems to be some serious issue with the labelling of products in the warehouse. I am now several days away from the event I need the shirts for, £240 out of pocket, with nothing to show for it except two parcels full of the incorrect product.

Terrible service! I placed an order, after 1 hour I made a request to change the shoe. I was told I could not change my order as it had been dispatched. After 5 weeks I have still not received my order, I have sent 5 emails following up the status of the order with no response!!

My parcel from Hawes and Curtis says it has been delivered, but it has not been and no card has been left through my door. I have sent two emails on Monday and yesterday, no reply. And I would love to know how everyone is getting through to their customer service phone number as I have called the number on the email several times and just put on hold for ages then told no support agents can take my call please call back later. It feels like a rogue company at this point and I will be reporting them. It’s crazy, they reply to trustpilot reviews in 2 days and just ignore emails like they are begging for bad reviews!

I question the quality of the products and customer service. I bought a pair of leather trainers for my husband, but after approx. 10 wears the stitching has started to come undone on the front of the shoe. The company were not interested, and called this wear and tear.

Absolutely terrible refunds process. Been over 3 weeks since my returned items were received by them. When I contacted customer service, they said my refund was requested and I should receive a refund confirmation once my refund has been processed - this should’ve happened within 24 hours as I paid via paypal. It’s now been 1 week and still not received any refund confirmation. Customer service reply times are appalling and incredibly unhelpful. Avoid at all costs.

Casually wondered in and was very surprised by the warm and professional staff. I was served by a young man named Vincent and he was genuine, sincere and most importantly he listened to my needs and gave me options to match. Keep up the good work.
The sales guy called Leroy in the Stratford branch was excellent in helping my son choose the right wedding trousers nothing was to much trouble was so experienced with the alterations would most definitely shop there again. And thank you Leroy for making a stressful time go with ease .
Fantastic
Hawes & Curtis is a long-established and distinguished British fashion brand, founded in 1913 by Ralph Hawes and George Frederick Curtis. Known for its heritage in shirtmaking, the brand has served royalty and celebrities alike over the decades.
Today, Hawes & Curtis operates stores in the UK, Germany, and the UAE, and maintains a strong online presence with dedicated websites for the UK, Germany, and Australia.
While they’re a respectable brand overall, they’re not my personal favourite when it comes to shopping. TM Lewin, once a major player in the same space, unfortunately went bust—likely due to poor management, despite their popularity.
By comparison, my go-to for smart-casual wear is Charles Tyrwhitt. Founded in 1986 by Nick Wheeler OBE, the brand was named after his middle names. You’ll often find Charles Tyrwhitt and Hawes & Curtis side by side on Jermyn Street, competing like the McDonald’s and Burger King of menswear. If you find one, you find the other usually not so far away. I’m not sure who opened first on these high streets but one is certainly copying the other. Brent X shopping center has both opposite one another by way of example. In my experience, Charles Tyrwhitt offers better quality and customer service. Their 6-month product guarantee and generous new customer discounts are great perks.
In contrast, I’ve had less-than-stellar experiences with Hawes & Curtis staff. For instance, at their Central London branch, a staff member refused to process a refund—despite my valid receipt—because the "item wasn’t in stock". Made no sense to me because I requested a refund and not an exchange. I had to wait around 16 minutes while he debated the issue with his manager, only to eventually approve the refund without so much as an apology. It felt unprofessional and showed a lack of common sense. That same staff member later transferred to the Brent Cross store near me, which I’ve since avoided for a while.
It only takes one bad experience to tarnish a brand’s reputation, and unfortunately, that was mine with Hawes & Curtis. So far nothing like this with Charles Tyrwhitt but they seem to be a very well run company and they know what they are doing.

I have purchased H&C shirts in the past. I currently have 11 shirts in my closet in various styles (satin fitted, satin pussybow, stretch cotton fitted and cotton fitted) and I'm usually very impressed with the cut, quality and fit. However, this time around, I purchased two stretch cotton fitted shirts (in floral styles) and the quality is very poor. The fabric is very thin compared to my older shirts and feel more like a polyester blend than cotton. The cut is nice but the fact that fabric is so thin it almost looks cheap. Very disappointed and I don't think I will be purchasing in the near future since I can get similar quality for less. At this point, I think customers are just paying for the brand name.

I had a terrible experience with the service from start to finish. I ordered shirts in extra slim fit, but they fit differently from one another. I returned them to exchange for fitted slim options, but it took over a week for you to register the delivery. Then, it took an additional week for you to inform me that you didn't have two of the shirts available, so you would be refunding me. You also claimed that a shirt was missing from the box, which is simply not true, and I strongly suggest you check your CCTV for proof.
I called customer service twice, and both times, the representative was short and uninterested, stating, "We can do this; it's in our terms and conditions." Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
After their reply, still didn't follow up on my issues. Terrible customer services. If anything my experience has got worse.
Have seen the reply. You are missing the main issues which was you very slow service and the attitude of your staff. Stop replying to make the review seem less valid. Terrible

I visited the store today to purchase a wool suit from the 1913 collection, I asked SAL to assist me, this was to be my 5th suit purchase! I have been a loyal customer to this company since 2010, anyway I tried on a sharkskin coloured suit in the changing room and when I exited SAL had apparently left, I needed a different trouser size to which another store clerk by the name of Massimo came forward and after a brief conversation emerged from the back of the store to state there were no trousers for my suit! Then he disappeared! Me being familiar with the store and the suits decided to do a self service and find the correct size trousers myself as apparently this lot were incapable of serving a loyal customer. I was eventually assisted by the store manager who needed to pin the trousers for adjustment, which she did. She actually came just in time because I was minded to leave and not bother spend my hard earned money after such shocking treatment! The lack of professional service was terrible I informed the manager that I would write a review on here. Truly disappointing experience and not the type of service one would expect from a reputable company! I must say on my visit last year to the smaller store they had at the time I was treated exceptionally well to be honest by professional courteous staff!

Very stressful experience after ordering online. There was an error in the delivery address which I noticed immediately after ordering. I immediately tried to contact the company to correct this and after about an hour trying to get through, I managed to speak to someone who said they couldn't change the address but would cancel the order so I could reorder using the correct address. A few hours later, however, I received an email saying the order had been dispatched to the wrong address.

Very poor quality! I bought four shirts and within six months, three of the shirts had ripped at the seams - two on the cuff and one down the side. I complained to customer service and they replied to say it was outside of their 28 day warranty period and was due to wear. Will never buy from this company again
