Disgusting service - Should be held accountable

Booked a van on 17.04 for 18.04 a duration of 24hrs. Money came out but no confirmation email. Was on chat for over 2 hours in waiting and to be told they can't help. Not sure how to contact.
Disgusting service, will be making formal complain and taking this matter further to make them accountable.

What a terrible company

What a terrible company
I booked a van in Milton Keynes on there app which I had to pay for and when going to pick it up it wasn’t there so I had to hire from a better company
It took me a week to speak to someone who told me the van had been taken of the road as it was unsafe
It took me another month to get a refund from them and they refused to pay me for the money for the app
So I refused to use this company but today they took another lot of money for the app after I told them to cancel it 11 months ago so it is time to take legal action
Beware of this terrible company

Renting one hour van.

Hi, I’m renting the one hour Rentel which is about £15 an hour and now I get the invoice you’re trying to be charging me £61 it is take a long time to checking in the car and also take 25 minutes of me to be Starting the car and I get charged £61. This is the rubbish company I see you in my whole Life never trust these apps. even one star is more than enough for this company.

Again for the second time in few weeks this terrible company overcharged me and like everyone here they take your money they keep details of your credit card and it’s no way to canceled, customer service is non existent a simple van hire for 3 hours they are charging me £130 even do I return the van with more fuel and 40

Awful experience

Awful experience – avoid Hertz 24/7

Absolutely shocking service. They took two deposits from my account and I’m now £204 down, waiting 7–10 days for it to be returned.

My booking was somehow extended until 9pm – not by me – and I only actually had the van for one hour. The app wouldn’t let me update my payment method, even though I had sufficient funds. I was told they had to do it manually and to uninstall the app. The whole system clearly glitched, yet I’m the one left out of pocket.

There is no proper customer support. If they can’t answer your question on chat, they just leave the conversation. No phone number. No call centre. No accountability.

I was left stressed, anxious and completely unsupported – especially frustrating as I was only hiring the van to save money during a house move.

I would strongly advise avoiding Hertz 24/7 unless you want unnecessary stress and money tied up in pending deposits.

DO NOT USE HERTZ, EVER.

My experience with Hertz 24/7 has been extremely disappointing and has completely destroyed my trust in the company.

I was hit with surprise mileage charges and membership fees that were not made clear at the time of booking. These extra costs only appeared once the invoices were sent, which felt deliberately misleading. Transparent pricing should be the bare minimum, and this felt like hidden fees designed to catch customers out after the fact.

To make matters worse, I returned the vehicle on time, but their app malfunctioned during the return process. Despite doing everything correctly on my end, I was later threatened with a late return fee because their system failed — not because I was actually late. Even more frustrating, the app became completely unresponsive and caused my phone to freeze and shut down while I was trying to complete the return. I’ve never had an app perform that badly before.

Overall, the experience felt stressful, unfair, and poorly managed. Between the unclear fees and the unreliable technology, I would not recommend Hertz 24/7 to anyone looking for a straightforward or trustworthy car rental service. There are plenty of alternatives out there that don’t rely on surprise charges and broken apps to do business.

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful! Very poor service,
We hired from Ikea Exeter where the van hire parking & collection is in the lower car park under a steel roof getting a signal/network when returning could not be achieved the Hertz App was not loading even on the ikea network i could not close the rental or finish the final van return inspection. In the end i had to use my sons phone with a duration of 37 minutes before we could actually leave..the next hirer of the van had exactly the same problems opening the App..
As i have had no response to my e-mail and charged a late fee i wash my hands of this company and will no longer use their services, we couldnt even obtain a support tel number to get assistance !!!
I will be staying well clear as the support is minimal but very effective when issuing the invoice ..nothing changes !!!

Vorsicht bei Hertz 24/7! Am 21. Januar 2026 wurde mir am Standort Roller (Poppenbütteler Weg 15, Hamburg) ein Transporter vermietet, der tatsächlich 2 km entfernt mit einem Getriebeschaden bei ATU (Poppenbütteler Weg 96 / GPS: 53°38'54.5"N 10°03'32.9"E) stand.
Ich habe mit zwei Helfern über eine Stunde am Roller-Parkplatz gesucht, da die App den falschen Standort anzeigte. Erst über die Ortung fand ich das Auto auf dem Gelände der ATU-Werkstatt. Die dortigen Mitarbeiter bestätigten mir persönlich anhand interner Unterlagen, dass das Auto längst offiziell als „defekt“ gemeldet war. Trotz dieses eklatanten Organisationsfehlers weigert sich Hertz, den massiven Zeitverlust von drei Personen (Wert ca. 200 €) angemessen zu entschädigen, und bietet lediglich ein lächerliches 40 € Fahrtguthaben an. Der Kundenservice hat die Kommunikation nun eingestellt. Absolute Enttäuschung – der Fall geht nun an die Verbraucherzentrale.

They have now closed my ticket and refuse to communicate further. Total lack of accountability. Escalating to the Consumer Protection Agency (Verbraucherzentrale) now.

Subscription scam

I hired a van at B&Q, which was supplied by Hertz 24/7.
When I went to collect the van was missing a windscreen wiper and had existing body damage.
I had no choice but to take the van as I was on a deadline but I discovered after the event that it was not road legal to the wiper.
I was subsequently accused of bribing the vehicle back late, which I disputed with the van’s own GPS evidence and they dropped the accusation.
One year on I was notified that my annual subscription to Hertz 24/7 is now due. I had no idea I had subscribed so I cancelled it immediately.
They proceeded to charge my card anyway.
There is no route to contact them through the app - the chat function they refer to is not to be found.
Avoid!

Rip off

Rip off. The van was difficult to start wasting time at the outset. No answer from the customer support number. It would’ve been cheaper for me to hire a van for the whole day from a local van hire. Avoid the company.

Faulty van, no support. A day's work ruined.

How I wish I had read these other reviews before I booked. Had a big day organised with friends to help me move furniture. Van opened and started okay, but it was impossible to disengage the parking break. Nothing on the app or inside would work. A very kind van driver from a local business came to help - he is an experienced driver and couldn't make it work either. The online support service that is supposed to work from 7.00am was unavailable. When I finally gave up and came home, I was advised I could not have a refund because I had to wait for an invoice. You just can't rely on these vehicles for anything important, always have a back-up and be prepared for a long haul to get a refund. In the end I booked a 'man and a van' for £20 more than the Hertz charge, and have my fingers crossed that may work better.

Don’t use hertz van hire!

Don’t use hertz van hire!! They double charge u!!! Absolutely disgusting company!!! No customer service!!! Illegally charged me twice for fuel!!! I’m a disabled person on a very low income. Should’ve been £62 had a message saying it was £62 as per agreement they took £90!!!! Wouldn’t return my money even though I proved I had put more than enough diesel in on return. Charged me twice for diesel and mileage!! A £62 van ended up being over £100 in total!! I’m having to go to my bank to get it back!! Avoid avoid avoid!!! Customer service was rude and shockingly unhelpful!!

Dreadful company, avoid at all costs.

Shocking! Terrible app, booking never appeared, no phone contact. Did not provide a booking reference. Spent the entire two hour rental period looking at the van I had booked whilst on chat with them trying to resolve issues. Was told I had not booked with them (I had) as booking didn't exist (It did). Was also told they never send sms messages (they do) after receiving one from them with a link to a non existent webpage (complete web address was https) to complete my booking (which they had claimed did not exist). Their advisors either do not know about the company, do not know how to do their jobs or lie. My booking was then cancelled, after the time the van had been due to be returned, and I was unable to use the van at all. Still been charged though, that appears to be the one thing they are capable of doing. Have downloaded transcripts of all chats and will be trying to complain but don't hold out much hope. They are borderline criminal, avoid at all costs.

Avoid.

They changed the location of the collection point at the last minute. Requiring a change of plan. Getting in the vehicle was fairly straightforward. But once out and about, the immobiliser wouldn't deactivate, and the app kept freezing. There is no number to contact customer service. It is all app-based. Fine when it is working. When I eventually got through to chat after about 10 attempts. They clearly reset the van at their end. I raised a complaint as I lost 1.5 hours of usage of the van messing about trying to contact them. Customer service via email post-event is useless. They keep asking for the same info. Don't seem to acknowledge the issue. Queried why I didn't call the breakdown number on the day . The van itself was immobilised not broken down. If I had called breakdown they would have directed me to the chat anyway. Avoid using them. Get a local van from a company with an office, staff and some customer service. It may cost a bit more but you'll have peace of mind!!

Hired a van last night for 2 hours to move a piece of furniture. Went to load and couldn’t open van through app. Tried to call. Don’t take calls. Tried to open app and contact app for assistance kept freezing. Eventually got logged in and told me to switch off Bluetooth and switch on after 10’attempts. So a 1 hour job took 3 hours because of no way of finding resolution. Customer service shocking and cost me £83’for £35 hire. Do not use

Avoid scammers avoid avoid avoid

I tried to book a van for 12 o’clock on Sunday, I didn’t get any confirmation email and the app was showing no bookings, I tried 3 times to pay but with no luck, it was only at night I checked my bank to see they have taken £94 3 times from my bank, I obviously contacted them on the live chat to find out I had apparently booked a van 3 times for different times of the day !!! Which was obviously completely crap, they said they would be keeping my money and I’d recieve no refund, they can clearly see I’ve not used any van they just want to scam money from you, I am going through my bank to try seek the money bank , this company is a complete joke please avoid at all costs do not use them, the app and live chat are a waste of time. As I am writing this they say I have a booking for 8:30 which is completely wrong as the app is telling me I’ve no bookings , I’ve got all the screenshots to proof that , waste of space avoid
