This is a complete scam!

I rented a car through Discovery Cars. On their website, the rental price was listed as 1600 SEK and it clearly said no deposit required.
However, when I went to pick up the car, the guy there shamelessly said, “We can’t block the deposit on your card.”

The funny thing is — I had rented a car from another company just a week earlier using the exact same card, and there was absolutely no problem.

This scammer then told me I could only get the car if I bought their insurance! I got angry and immediately called the company I had rented from before (Famous Cars) and explained the situation. They told me clearly: “No, that’s not true — they can easily block the deposit.”

Then that arrogant man started shouting at me, saying:

“If you leave this office, I’ll cancel your booking!”

I had no choice but to take the car. My 1600 SEK rental suddenly became 4000 SEK!

And the car they gave me? It smelled like a pigsty and was barely usable — absolutely disgusting!

I tried calling them several times to extend the rental period. Every time they said, “We’ll call you back,” but of course, nobody ever did.

When I returned the car, the circus continued. They told me I had a parking fine and had to pay 500 SEK. I asked to see the fine — it turned out to be only 160 SEK!
The rest, they claimed, was a “service fee.” That’s when their true faces showed. We completely called them out and embarrassed them — they couldn’t even open their mouths after that!

I’ve been renting cars for years, but I have never experienced such a disgrace in my life.

The funniest part? During the rental, I asked the guy, “Why do you have so many bad reviews?”
He replied, “Those donkeys’ cards don’t work — that’s why they write reviews.”

So not only do they scam people — they also insult them!

I will be reporting this to CİMER. It’s time someone put an end to these shameless, dishonest scammers who openly deceive people.

Warning to Travelers: Avoid HIT / UNIQ Rent-a-Car in Türkiye

I’m writing this as someone who loves Türkiye deeply—so much so that I purchased an apartment here. But what I experienced with HIT / UNIQ Rent-a-Car was not just disappointing—it was outrageous.

Twice, I was subjected to the same manipulative scam:

My valid credit card (issued by one of Canada’s largest banks) was falsely declared “not working.”

I was pressured to buy absurdly overpriced insurance.

When I refused, I was denied the car I had already reserved and paid for.

Less than an hour later, I rented a car from another company using the same card—no issues.

The first incident was in September 2023 with HIT Rent-a-Car. The second, in September 2025, was with UNIQ Rent-a-Car—only to discover they are the same company, operating from the same office, using the same staff. This deception is deliberate and systematic.

I reported both incidents to Skyscanner and VIPCars, who confirmed they would investigate and reconsider their partnerships. I’ve also submitted a formal complaint to the Turkish Ministry of Tourism, urging them to inspect and regulate this company’s operations.

This isn’t just about one bad experience. It’s about protecting other travelers from being exploited. It’s about defending Türkiye’s reputation as a country of hospitality and integrity. And it’s about holding accountable those who tarnish the image of an entire nation—and, by extension, the values it represents.

Shame on HIT / UNIQ Rent-a-Car. You have no right to operate this way.

Alarm bells should have rang when we turned up in an uber to find that they had moved and the new address hadn’t been shared with my booking platform.

After paying the additional can fare we arrived to find a customer at the counter arguing about insurance with the agent. More alarm bells but carried on. Refused 3 cards as they are not “credit cards” (visa, Amex, Mastercard) saying it needs to be a credit card not a debit card. This is nonsense. All valid payment methods. After some quick research on trust pilot realised what was going on and cancelled the booking.

This is clearly a scam company where the modus operandi is to refuse all valid payment methods, forcing you to pay cash and make you take their extortionate insurance even if you have your own insurance.

They will then offer to cancel the booking knowing that you then have to fight to get your rental cost back from the platform you booked it from. I still don’t have a refund and have low hope. Don’t be sucked in by the low prices offered.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

As many people have said before we had issues with them not taking a credit card, refusing to take a card my friend had and not taking a debit card in my name for a 900 euro deposit which they said would be paid back on 90 days . This would all be waived if we took out their 400 Euro insurance.

Feels like their cars are cheap so you can be pressured into taking their insurance.

We cancelled and got an Uber.

Scammers! They say your credit card does not work (though it clearly works fine) and want you to pay extra in cash in order to still give you a car. They lie on video (recorded conversations) and deny it afterwards. Do not use this rental agency!

First class scammers!

Never rent from this place. They wait until you arrive at your destination and then take you to their “office”. In their office they say the credit card doesn’t go through. Trust me, spare yourself the time and effort! They are cancelling your reservation on purpose so that they can make new reservation plans double the initial price which was stated online through carjet.

I arrived with my wife and infant just to wait 2 extra hours and they tried to rip me off. We did not accept and left.

Atmosphere is like something from a Guy Richie film - Turkish style. Do not put yourself in danger.

If a booking engine takes you to HIT then cancel immediately.

Horrible experience and I refused to pay anything and seriously thought I was going to get beaten up.

The company is completely scam. They give you cheap quotes for the car rental. And they don’t even exist inside the airport.
Once you go there they will ask for €800 deposit.
Please if you are tourist. Don’t put your self at risk

As everybody else is saying, this company is a FRAUD. I got to Antalya Turkey at midnight, they were supposed to pick me up but were not there. I made my own way to their office 5 miles away, they then said both my credit cards did not work for the deposit so I needed to take out their insurance at a cost of 25 Euros a day. I asked how I would pay this, they said they could get credit card to work for this!!! Was a scam to try to fraudulently obtain money. I made my own way back to airport and had to sort alternative. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY - YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF.

THEY ARE FRAUDSTERS & CRIMINALS WHO WILL PRETEND THAT THE CARD MACHINE IS NOT ABLE TO TAKE YOUR HOLDING DEPOSIT & THEN FORCE YOU INTO BUYING THEIR NON EXISTING INSURANCE & WILL ALSO TRY GET YOU TO PAY IT IN CASH. IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT CASH THEN THEIR CARD MACHINE MIRACULOUSLY CAN ONLY TAKE PAYMENTS & NOT THE HOLDING DEPOSIT, FORCING YOU INTO BUYING THEIR INSURANCE.

MY RENTAL SHOULD OF COST £110 & ENDED UP COSTING ME £320. I HAD NO CHOICE AS IT WAS 10PM & I HAD TO GET BACK TO THE AIRPORT TO COLLECT MY FAMILY AS THEY DIDN'T BRING A COLLECTION VEHICLE BIG ENOUGH FOR 3 PEOPLE & 2 CASES!! PLEASE AVOID & KEEP YOUR FAMILY SAFE AS I FELT THREATENED WHILST IN THEIR OFFICE.

We flied from Manchester to antalya before we go we used VIP RENT A CAR website market and HIT RENT A CAR came up with a good price and small deposit we have booked and after getting to antalya they said straight away they will pick us up and take to their office 10 minutes away and in the middle of the farm after you land they will keep you waiting at least 40 minutes but that's good start when you get in to office they will ask for £300 kasko money which is they should be paid once a year they can't rent out with out kasko insurance if you don't pay they will ask £900 deposit which is you will never going to get it back and they put pressure on you people who has no choice and they have to rent a car from them because it's last minute

This rent a car is a complete scam, to start with is not at the airport terminal as the say they are, secondly they will ask you to send documents via WhatsApp like your passport etc (be aware of who are you dealing with!!) then they will ask you for a hidden deposit as if you were renting a Ferrari, they are not worth even my time to keep going writing, AVOID this scam!!

hit rent a car surprised me with how easy the entire process was. My flight got delayed, and I was worried about missing my pickup window, but their customer service told me not to stress. They adjusted my reservation at no extra cost. I will be telling friends about their helpfulness.

This company is a scam fraud they advertise cheap low price car rentals. When you arrive at the airport they pick you up bring you to their office then they take your credit card to take provision payment for a deposit then they say your car is not working they then proceed to say the only way they can rent a car to you is if you take out very high insurance. They will not return you to the airport they will leave you stranded far away from anywhere where their office is. Beware stay well away from this company and be careful this scam is very widespread in Antalya Turkey . Other car rental companies in Antalya using this fraud scam are vip cars, Long car rental and Emr car rental

Scammers please please avoid

Scammers creditcard fraud exactly like the other reviews.

First they didn't show up, because they said there was no booking. It was confirmed by Discovercars.

With the new booking 8 hours later and sleeping at the airport, they did show up 15minutes to late. It wasn't meet&greet, but they bring you 10minute further by car.

Quickly they said there was a problem with my creditcard and if i want the car i need to pay extra. 25euro per day for insurance total of 350 extra and suddenly it should work. I told them No i allready have full insurance and it doesnt make sense, but they didnt care.

When i asked why it would work when i pay extra, they didnt have a clear answer. Then they said i need to pay the 503euros cash. We didnt have that so they canceled the car.

I told them to call discovercars because our phones stopped working. Its the uk so they didnt want to call.

There was a discussion in person and on the phone with the boss but they didn't budge. I raised my voice and told them we waited the whole night and never had a problem with my creditcard.

So it was a big scam!

They brought us back again to the airport. With no idea what to do.. We finally made a booking with a carrental in the airport.

My creditcard was just fine.

Seeing all the bad reviews, they rather try to scam people then rent cars.

They make Turkish people look bad.
