We rented via Airbnb an apartment in Paris. We needed to pay a separate deposit of 250 euro. They did not pay it back on time despite several requests. After an intervention of Airbnb staff it was returned. Do not book via them is my advice.
Problems in Paris..
I was also hosted by them at Paris... like everyone else, they tried to keep my deposit. I won't give them 1 star, because in the end, I was able to recover my deposit! But it was not easy... I gave them a good rating in Airbnb, because I was affraid of not beeing able to receive the deposit, after reading through the Trustpilot reviews (I wish I had before booking). But the house had a lot of broken items, was missing some things, and they never even bother to fix and replace while I was there... although they said they would. In the end, they delayed me deposit return, then said that I had broken a lot of thing and that the deposit was not enough to cover de damage, but after I told them I would do everything in my power to get my deposit back, and contacted airbnb support, and they ended up returning de deposit. After all this, they deleted all the messages we exchanged in the airbnb platform (but I guess airbnb still keeps track of everything).
The appartment is nice, and the location is great. But these problems should not occur!

Very disappointing experience with Holidays Discovery.
The check-in process was overly complicated, with no flexibility at all and an unpleasant tone in communication. It honestly felt like being treated with suspicion rather than as a guest. Everything was rigid and impersonal, with zero effort to make the arrival smooth or welcoming.
Yes, the terms and conditions were mentioned, but when you pay for a stay, you expect at least some respect and consideration — not constant reminders of the rules.
Such a shame, because the property itself could have offered a much better experience if the management had been more professional and friendly.
Don't book! They don't refund €250 deposit!
They demand a €250 deposit, which I paid. But after checkout they say it will take longer than 1 month to refund. They had another guest arriving the same day i checked out, they checked the apartment and no problems as we left it clean and tidy. Emptied the bins etc. asked why they won’t refund they say it’s their finance department. An unacceptable excuse and they just keep your money. Don't book with this company, many people reporting the same thing and that it's a scam. I've asked more than 15 times and they still refuse to refund now.

One has a few regrets at the end of a life that fade with time, but I will certainly always remember sadly dealing with your company HOLIDAYS DISCOVERY and its utter lack of professionalism in dealing with me and my rental of the Le Marais property. You never once properly answered my more than 20 emails regarding the lack of movement on your part and your contractual obligation to refund me those 250 Euros you so callously held back for more than 6 weeks. Your introductory blurb about the flat and your client services is full of blatant cynical mendacity! And I regret writing that positive review for you, because it was full of half-truths that I believed at the time, would be of aid to you, but talk about my naivety and you NOT deserving any wind of positive feedback!!!....I see that as of September 1st you have no days reserved for the rental and your overall review score is a paltry 6 out of 10. (That's fitting karma)...You deserve to be reprimanded and sanctioned! Get a conscience!

I stayed with Holidays Discovery on 4 July and paid a €150 deposit via Swikly. I was promised a full refund within 21 working days. It is now well over a month later, and despite repeated follow-ups, I have received nothing.
Every reply from the company has been vague and dismissive, with no proof of refund provided. There was no damage to the property, yet they continue to withhold my money. This feels like outright dishonesty.
It’s clear I am not the only one — many others report the same experience. This has turned what should have been a pleasant holiday into a stressful and frustrating ordeal.
Avoid this company at all costs.

It has now been over a month since our stay, and we have yet to receive our damages deposit despite there being no damage to the property. We’ve had to chase this up repeatedly, week after week, with no resolution. This experience has cast a shadow over what was otherwise an enjoyable holiday and has been deeply frustrating.
I’ve never encountered customer service quite like this, and sadly, it’s made me question whether I would use this company again. I’ve tried to be extremely patient, but posting here has become a last resort. Every time I’ve reached out, I’ve been given vague or dismissive responses. Since it’s been confirmed that there was no damage, there is no reason to withhold the deposit, at this point, it feels like a form of theft.

SCUMMERS! DID NOT received a deposit after 21 days after my check out as was promised. There was no any damages done to the property, I made all the videos and pictures. Every time I contact them, they say that the deposit was sent back. Now it's been almost 55 days since ive done check out and my bank doesn't see any pending transaction. SCHOKING how can AIRBNB support such scum!

Holidays-Discovery didn’t return the 250€ deposit back. I traveled with my family (wife, kids and mom-in-law). It’s already one month we left and we didn’t break anything. Cleaning fee we already payed cause it was included to the reservation. No informing or communicating. This happened after we stayed in Paris in apt called Exclusive flat near Notre-Dame de Paris. Reservation was through Airbnb. I’m confused how Airbnb didn’t help and solve it.
Don’t book any place with them. Customer service sucks, it’s faceless and they promise to give back the deposit but they won’t.
I’m already working on crime report toward them.
Absolute scammers
Absolute scammers. I booked a rental. Paid my deposit. Got a notice my rental was cancelled because I had not paid. Sent proof of payment. They acknowledged their mistake. Promised to refund me. Two weeks later I am still chasing down my refund. VRBO has been useless as well.
Still Waiting For Deposit Refund
I've been trying to get my 700 EURO deposit back. There was no damage done to the property through our stay. I took photos, and the place was left exactly as we found it. The rental listing says the deposit will be returned 8 days after departure. After 8 days, I emailed holidays discovery asking when I'll receive the deposit, and I was told the money would be returned after 14 days. I emailed them after 14 days and was told I'd receive the deposit after 21 days. It's now been almost 28 days since departure, and I have yet to hear back from them about my deposit refund. Come on already...return my deposit!
