I had joined Home Instead Altrincham
I had joined Home Instead Altrincham, Sale & Wythenshawe last year and I absolutely love working here! The team in the office was very welcoming from the start and straight away I felt like being at home. We support our Clients and Care Professionals daily and I am very proud of this.
Would you like to find out more about care and support try it for yourself as a Client or a Care Professional.
I have been working with Home Instead…
I have been working with Home Instead for a few weeks and I am loving their approach to care.
For a number of years, I have been working as a home carer, and I love this job, however, previous companies that iv worked for have not provided care that I personally think is acceptable.
I joined Home Instead after doing my Home work on care providers. To me they offer and provide top care, also they appreciate their employees who are on the front line. This makes you want to work better for them.
Most importantly, their care provided to their clients are outstanding. Giving time to offer top quality care in most daily tasks. To allow a trusting relationship form with care giver and client. They always I produce you to the client.
I could go on. I love this company and hope to keep this job and not feel the need to bounce around to other care companies.
Home Instead Darlington Branch - highly commended
In September '23 I commissioned Home Instead (Darlington Branch) to support my mother for an interim period pending relocation, in Jan '24, to an ExtraCare apartment located much nearer to me. Both mum and myself were immediately impressed by the branch manager, Judith, who proved to be alert, bright, perceptive, empathetic and professional. Judith dispelled all the concerns we had about employing carers. The three carers Judith matched to my mother (E., J., and L.) all bonded rapidly with mum and were compassionate, warm and capable in caring for her. Mum wished the team could have relocated with her! I have no reservations in recommending the Home Instead Darlington branch.

I love working for Home Instead…
I love working for Home Instead Altrincham, Sale, Wythenshawe. We have a One Team ethos and our company mission is very community minded , we employ local people to care for local seniors .we call our carers Care Professionals , because they are. Carers are matched to clients they see regularly and can build a relationship and we don’t believe care should be rushed so calls are a minimum of 1 hour .
Bury Home Instead … Such a fabulous…
Bury Home Instead … Such a fabulous company to work for … I started in October 2022, first class training and support. The Ethos is right and the care for the Clients is wonderful, such a relief to work for a care company that actually CARES!!!
Reassuring, kind and caring
From the first contact with Jenny Knight at Home Instead Basildon I have received nothing but support and advice, I have read previous reviews and I cannot associate with any of the bad comments, Jenny has answered emails late at night on days off even on Leave so its obvious she cares about her Job staff and clients.
Yes there have been some hiccups, but we are talking about taking over caring for loved ones and these things cant happen overnight.
The carers fill in a daily task form so I can see remotely of any issues and I can email the office to ask for advice etc. Jenny, Jane and Rachael all very helpful in the office and the carers Jan Jaie Lisa all interact with my Aunt to reassure her
Thank you all
Over priced and inflexible
Over priced and inflexible. Be aware that this company operates a franchise model so individual branches probably have very different approaches. In South Lakes they seem to be very ‘corporate’ with multiple levels of supervision that get between the client and the carer. In my initial dealings with them I found them over priced and inflexible. (They would not engage for less than 3 days/week and 2hrs per visit). They also gave the impression that there were standards and policies for everything. This is great if you have a ‘standard’ person needing care. Unfortunately old people need more flexibility. I did not engage them.
I should have awarded no stars but I…
I should have awarded no stars but I didn’t have the option. It has come to light that Home Instead East Hampshire office deducted £240 out of their care workers pay packet “without her consent” to say that she was in agreement “she wasn’t “. So potential care workers beware of this branch. This case is ongoing until they refund the wages because “the course” was Free and no money needed to be taken from their care worker.
It shows that this is an American…
It shows that this is an American corporate company as nothing wreaks of pro capitalist "profit above all" and not only extortionate rates but also sending out "trackers" to stalk & hunt down employees to make sure not only that they're not slacking and even smoking is sackable even if the person whose home it is doesn't mind (but ofc they don't matter or count...only higher ups, wealthy suits an bureaucratic grass-rat sycophantism ...ie be a goon and ass lick your way to the top like a good little psychopath happy & willing to throw even your own family under the bus to get closer to that ceo corporate hellscape job) feels grossly like commodification of basic human compassion and care...the (anti-)social worker(s) (supposed "social"workers) who referred us ofc did a crappy ass job as per aswell
Trust and experience
I use Home Instead Stockton-on-Tees. The carers really do care and know what they are doing. My husband has dementia and enjoys the trips out and personal attention. I trust the carers and feel he is looked after very well by experienced carers. They have been a great support to me. The back office/management team have been excellent. They phone me once a month to check everything is ok.
I applied for the position as a care…
I applied for the position as a care assistant twice. They turned me down on both occasions because I am a male and because of my nationality. They discriminate against people. they are racist and sexist. They ought to be ashamed of themselves!!!!
Homeinstead Nailsea Yan owner
Homeinstead Nailsea Yan owner
Worst care company I ever came across great to work for if you are a carer want paying late or never at all. Sadly the office staff Nikki and Chloe and Pat who put up with quite allot are lovely just let down by an unorganised and sloppy owner. Be prepared in your last pay to get 0 when they deduct anything they can get away with like training and DBS costs. They pull you off regular clients who are happy and their families are happy, to sort out clients for instance when a district nurse reports the carer in situ they stick you in to firefight because you are more experienced than the the carer in situ, then pay you late not the 1st of the month the 10th perhaps or the 15th some months. My direct debits bounced. I sorted out issues for them and then they transferred me back to my regular client. My poor regular client had to suffer a new carer whilst I was away then got me back again. They didn't care, she had dementia you see. She wouldn't know the difference? Course she would it's called stress! For both client and carer. Homeinstead agency are great in general try East Bristol Joe Spritzer or Downend or Brentwood claire.willoughbyat all terrific branches to work for don't let it put you off Homeinstead franchises. Just give Nailsea a wide birth, they are too new and have too many teething problems lol called Yan.
I should have read all these reviews…
I should have read all these reviews before applying in home instead,I had awful experience with them.
Stay away from this company.
Stay away from this company all they want is your money.
If you don’t cancel them with 14 days notice they charge you even when they haven’t provided you with any service.
You’ve been warned !!
Couldn't really fault the care, but.....
Couldn't really fault the care, however the greed of the organisation once you don't need them any more leaves a lot to be desired. Client had to go into a care home for respite (they were charged full rate by Home Instead as had to give 2 weeks notice), then due to worsening health, client had to stay in care home, low & behold another 2 weeks notice had to be given to Home Instead, so charged for 4 weeks when no care was provided (& suspect staff didn't need to be paid); pure greed !
If I could give this company zero stars…
If I could give this company zero stars then this would be the rating they would get from me.
It's all about making a profit and keeping CQC happy with the paperwork for compliance. Not about the care of the staff or the clients they look after.
Unless of course there is something in it for them! I reported lots of safeguarding issues to my line manager they did not even acknowledge my email and with the way I was bullied by another carer and a member of the office staff, nothing was done when I had handed my notice in! The stress it caused me was to have 2 weeks off sick due to the bullying and also with the safeguarding issues. If you care for a couple you do not get paid anymore unlike the company that charges them, when your working its not 10 hrs a day its 24/7 as you have to support them during the night without enhancements and I also did not always have a 2 hr break where I was relieved by an hourly carer, but were "safe" to be left alone. For any extra hours I done it was for no pay. When it comes down to being paid it basically works out around £4.00ph it's cheap labour. They favour certain carer's even when they are not doing their job to a satisfactory standard because they know staff are few and far between and cannot afford to be choosy. The Carer's have had enough of the bad treatment or being overworked due to lack of carer's in the company therefore having to cover extra shifts. It's about prioritising what really matters. Making a profit or looking after the clients and carer's.
The false advertising of finding staff with an offer of Tea and Cake is very misleading as lots of people who apply have no experience in the care profession and presume its a question of visiting and befriending for companionship.
When in fact these people who have little or no experience do not expect to take a client to the toilet or change an incontinence pad and the very thought of providing personal care is absolutely horrifying for them.
The training is mediocre, where it is training online with a care skills package. What they do not tell you is that someone needs also to sign you off physically in order to get your certificate. However, you could have completed your certificate in advance but their is no staff members to actually physically sign you off so you get left. Without your modules being signed off and not being able to collect your Certificate. The office staff do not care. Shame on you Home Instead!!!

Extremely disappointing company
I had an extremely disappointing experience with this company. The unprofessional behavior exhibited by their office staff was truly disheartening. Not only were they consistently dishonest and rude, but their condescending attitude was completely uncalled for. The level of disorganization was evident in every interaction, leaving me frustrated and bewildered.
To make matters worse, when I attempted to follow up on important emails, I was met with resistance and even accused of being tiresome. It's astonishing that a company would react this way when customers are simply seeking clarity and updates.
The lack of communication and empty promises only added to my frustration. It's clear that they have no concern for their customers' families, as the level of care and attention was shockingly absent. Even the branch manager, who should have been a point of contact for resolving issues, was dismissive, unavailable, and utterly unreliable.
Overall, I'm astounded by the treatment I received from a company that claims to prioritize care. It's disheartening to see such a glaring discrepancy between their supposed values and their actual conduct. I cannot recommend this company to anyone, as my experience has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated.
