I love this site. I have been fortunate enough to have met some wonderful House Sitters which give me peace of mind when I go on holiday.

The website is simple and intuitive, the interested housesitters available were multiple, and they had clear profiles. It was easy to see if their previous housesits had been reviewed and whether they had DBS checks. Then it was easy to message them and they were responsive. I have organised one house sit which was a resounding success, seemingly for me and the housesitter.

I've had two housesits with House Sitters UK and am looking forward to my 3rd, in 2026. I find the site to be easy to use, it attracts the kind of house sits I'm interested in and the people and pets I've looked after have been fantastic, both times. I've been happy to book housesits using House Sitters UK.

We have been members for a number of years and have really had a great time, The sits have allowed us to travel all over the country and see places we would never had visited. We have enjoyed the company of some wonderful pets and the house owners have been like friends.Thank you Housesitters for a great experience.

Easy way to find a house sit, reviews give you extra confidence. Commutations went smooth via the platform.

We have used Housesittersuk.co.uk now 3 times for long stay house sits from 8 weeks to 3 months and are very satisfied with the platform, whenever I place an ad, responses are coming in literally within a few hours and so far we have always been able to secure a Housesitter within days. I do this about 2-3 months before we travel and make sure to stress that we are looking for commitments from both sides which so far worked well. We like that the platform does ID checks and of course go through all the reviews before inviting people for a FaceTime interview. All communication goes through the platform including confirming the sit and informing the other candidates that they have not been successful. Post the house sit both we and the Housesitter give an independent review. Key for us is ‘no exchange’ of money - the Housesitter gets to stay in the house, we pay the bills and in return they look after the animals and the house. We only use this platform and never had to go to another platform up to this point.

We’ve used House sitter UK several times and have always had good experiences. I will only accept people who show half decent pictures and have taken care with their descriptions and who seem to have similar values to us. Usually we talk on WhatsApp video before coming to a decision too.
Our home and pets have been well looked after and the dogs are usually not over excited at seeing us again, which I take as a good sign! We have used the platform for breaks of a weekend to over two weeks and now have a favourite couple that we have used several times, who enjoy taking part in village life.

I've never had a problem with this site and I've been using it for 4 years straight in London. It's super easy to use, and I've only had good experiences.

I 've been on this platform -"housesitters.co.uk " since last October. I had my first sitting over Christmas - I have to admit, I didn't chase it much in the first few months. My first experience was super positive. I spent Christmas in a cool flat in London with a cuddly kitty, relaxed and enjoyed with the nicest company. So did I many times afterwards- in total I had 8 placements, and only on my free time. I am so happy to discover this platform and I highly recommend it to all pet sitters out there. Plus: membership at a very reasonable annual feel - unlike some others, which are outrageously pricey!They even offer a special price for the more active members

We've found some excellent housesitting gigs from this site. It is clearly a well trusted platform from people who need their house and pets looking after in the UK as we've really had some great experiences. We will continue to use House Sitters UK when we are here. We also use their sister site in NZ and it's great because we can show the reviews from both countries on the site which is really helpful to us.

Forced to pay a £15 joining fee and no response to advert. Had 1 person message me 12hours before i left the country. Absolutely impossible to arrange a sit with 12hrs notice. Waste of £15 shouldnt be charged if theres no sitters at all!

I joined this website a year ago and had one excellent sit through it.
I renewed my membership online this year and I have had my credit card cancelled as the company is reported to be fraudulent in some way. This is obviously extremely concerning if this is true as people share a lot of personal details.
I emailed the company after the incident with my credit card (no phone number apparently) and asked them to urgently email and explain the position - this has been ignored. I am hoping they will respond to this review with an explanation - otherwise BEWARE

Thank you to those who have taken the time to review (CH, July 2025) and share their experience as a member of House Sitters UK (Head office based in Australia), it's empowering to know mine is not an isolated incident.

Having been on the site without issue for over 10 years, a home owner made a malicious, baseless report to HS UK and the ('MD', Nick) terminated my membership (whilst retaining my fee) and made me feel like a criminal for challenging the validity of his 'autonomous' decision (does not appear to have any legal training). Did not wish to engage when challenged on the validity of decision etc. Rude, unprofessional and aggressive in any response - I would recommend using alternative methods to procure safe, corroborative sits. Introductory sites like this are designed to make a great deal of money, whilst appearing to be unaccountable to any regulatory body or have any duty of care to members who sit for them- however, please still take the time to report them if you have had a negative experience and poor/no response. Wherever they are based, they operate under different business laws in each respective country in which they trade.

I am taking my case to legal.

I dared to complain about the fact I found out I had been being filmed by a Pet Owner whose 7 pets I looked after for free. He had also agreed in writing to pay my fares to get to and from his home yet once I had paid for these, refused to.
My first point of contact at the Agency was pleasant but didn't take this at all seriously in spite of me showing her written proof he had filmed me without my knowledge which is also not lawful.
The Agency imply they are based in the Uk but then admitted they are in Australia hence they only use a PO Box. They don't reply promptly and the CEO, a Nick is very intimidating if you dare to complain about anything. I have 15 five star reviews with them and all say I have given excellent house and pet care but only once I complained did he make allegations against me.
So in other words: you are a trouble maker for daring to complain. Nick's correspondence is extremely rude. When it was clear I didn't feel able to work for them any more, he told me he would refund my membership fee. I hadn't asked him to do this. He then falsely complained he couldn't do this as he is based in Australia. When I dared to write to him with an explanation as to how to do this from my bank, he became very rude in an email which I felt it was necessary to ignore as he is clearly argumentative & a very unprofessional rude, patronising individual.
I immediately stopped working for them. It is clear those who work for free have absolutely no legal rights and this company's Ts and Cs are worthless.
I was informed that as they are an Agency in the UK, they are legally obliged to pay Sitters as Sits are booked through them. They clearly don't accept this & don't know the law. Friends of mine have been treated like dirt by Nick too and I wouldn't recommend pet sitting for them & they don't take up any References from Sitters. I would recommend working for UK based Trusted House Sitters instead!
They imply they have only good reviews. It is clear here that that is not true!

This is a legit site and it does work.

BUT. Customer services is NON EXISTANT.

I have written several times and they have NEVER answered.

I wish I had read the reviews before I signed up
I set myself up as a sitter. I specifically said only cats and dogs (I have no experience with horses, cattle etc). I uploaded photos, paid to be dbs checked.
I then had friends tell me that some of these sites don't actually have any sitting jobs. They make money just collecting the fees from the sitters.
I don't know whether it's true of this site but my renewal is due (I have been offered a discount if i renew) however I am reluctant to pay for another year's renewal when I have not had a single enquiry in the past year.
I think anyone signing up may need to manage their expectations, as you might end up paying to have all the checks done only to find there are no sitting jobs available

A great proposition now taken over by greed.

This will have the opposite effect by removing the excellent homeowner base thereby reducing the attractiveness of the site for them.
I won't be sticking around to pay for your innovation and growth.

While our first sit went well and we were fortunate to find a good sitter who had previously lived in our town so was known locally my latest experience has been awful. I'm trying to find a house sitter for this year and having written to dozens of 'available' sitters non of them are as no one keeps thier calanders up to date. Complete time wasters. The worst thing was I was approached by a supposedly established sitter offering to sit for us next month. After two days of pleasant and positive back and forth messages I suggested a call to firm up details. Then out the blue I get a really offensive message about what a terrible person I am travelling by plane and destroying the world. Bear in mind this man is in his late 50's, and brags in his profile of having. travelled the world and lived in NZ for over 20 years (of course he may have travelled there by land/sea). The message he sent was toxic, offensive and upsetting especially given his own travel history. It made me feel sick. I didnt expect to come across this kind of nastiness. He's supposed to be a teacher/mentor. I certainly wouldn't want him mentoring one of my sons. He had blocked me for no reason so I couldn't reply and being blocked makes me look bad. I tried to report him but you can't report someone who has blocked you! So if you want to be a nasty bully just make sure you block the person after you've sent your toxic message. How many people has he done this too? The site should crack down on this. If you don't want to sit for people travelling by air that's fair enough. Put it in your profile or make it your first question. Also don't brag about your own world travels. Most people wanting a dog sitter are probably travelling abroad or they'd take thier dog with them.

The house sitter I've paid to look after my home and senior car didn't stayed the whole time at my home, she burned my brand new kitchen worktop , left the keys outside the door overnight while no one was inside the house and she just came once per day to feed my cat and left. I got my money refunded but they still kept her profile on their website so clearly this website is not trustworthy and I won't recommend it to anyone
