Considering 136 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently complain about frustratingly long wait times on the phone and unhelpful customer service representatives who repeatedly fail to resolve technical issues or answer questions properly. Consumers also experience extremely frustrating service dropouts, painfully slow internet speeds, and confusing billing errors that leave long-term clients feeling ignored. Some reviewers were happy with the efficient and polite assistance provided by supportive staff members when addressing sudden connection problems. A few other consumers also noted that their specific problems were resolved quickly once they managed to connect directly with a knowledgeable representative. These individuals praised the prompt resolution and dedicated support they received during their interactions.

Very poor if you have satellite broadband.

All of a sudden iinet are sending messages telling me I have overstepped my data limit, then they slow my speed right down to almost unusable. I have been with them for over 21 years and am doing nothing different. They can’t/won’t let me pay for extra data so I have to wait at the end of every month until my next block kicks in. Practically impossible to get hold of them, and useless when you do. I’m changing ISP this month.

Enshittification in its purest form

A customer of 20 years, and a former iiNet reseller. I've just departed for Superloop. Dozens of my customers will follow soon. It's an end of an era.

Watching the slow demise of a once great ISP was painful but educational. Previously legendary customer service is now quite possibly the worst in the observable Universe. You can spend hours talking to twenty different CSRs, and not even one of them will have any clue.

If anyone ever asks you what enshittification is, be sure to give them iiNet as the best example of the phenomenon.

After having been with westnet who provided wonderful service for 20 years iiNet is a service disaster.
No promised call back, after two weeks of dropout’s finally a call from a foreign woman who was hard to understand, she did her best.
Still dropping out iiNet says that the problem is solved,it’s not!
Will be changing isp as soon as possible
Such a shame for an isp that used to have a very loyal customer base

iinet are going down the tube

iinet are going down the tube. A once reliable service is becoming just another one of those telecommunication companies that treat customers as numbers instead of people. It used to be good for contacting an actual person to resolve a problem, now it's the usual automated crap with hour long, on hold wait times. Such a shame.

Impossible to get agreed refund ?

Internet service adequate, but trying to get a refund for continued billing after termination of service almost impossible......took many calls before iiNet would agree to refund inappropriate billing. iiNet then terminated my account prior to the refund, then claimed that they couldn't refund because my account was closed, ....several more calls, then they couldn't refund because they 'had no record of an active Credit Card', despite taking money out of the same card for the continuing (inappropriate) direct debit. Eventually had to supply a whole new Credit card.... saga currently ongoing. One interpretation is ongoing deliberate stalling in the hope that customers just give up on ever getting agreed refunds, but my legal advice is to never suggest that as my opinion, simply as a possible interpretation of events.

There is a phone number but no real support

I've been with iinet for over 25 years. I was using the originally provided cable modem that had reached end of support. When I requested a replacement the solution was to end my current account and apply for a new one (with all the BS that involves including a potential 48 hr outage), because they couldn't send a replacement as I was on in older billing system?? Two support calls shuffled between sales ( who were more interested in bundling mobile ) and support and eventually customer care has prompted me to look elsewhere.
Product is OK but pray hard that nothing ever goes wrong.

Horrible ISP cant wait to change to a better one.
Long time customer of 20+ years (Originally was Adam Internet based in Adelaide Australia)
I'm sure the issue is with the modem but iiNet will not supply another one to a long time customer !!!!!
If I was to join as a new customer they would give me one of course !!!!
Keep getting told by call centre in Philippines that the problem has been passed to an engineer and they gave me a reference number and said they will call back within 24 hours, but they never do, this has happened multiple times.
I should of changed over when iiNet stopped their email service "to concentrate on improving their internet service" (laughable) of course monthly cost remained the same!
Terrible ISP providing terrible service.
Stay away from them!!

I am not happy with the lack of service and NO communication between you and me
I would not have decided to change over if I had known this stupidity was going to happen
I can’t contact by phone as it is not working
Will you ever get it right

Absolute piss poor service do not use and do not trust i connected a new nbn superfast plan was meant to recieve 750mbps download only recieved 5mbps download for 2 weeks constantly calling trying to get what I was paying for had a nbn tech come out and fix a problem and told me the speeds im not recieveing are because of the provider I then spent the next week on the phone trying to get it fixed over 6hrs on the phone to be told the problem is still on nbn side id had a absolute gut full and told them im changing providers and want a refund I instantly signed up to aussie broadband and how funny is this set up a new modem not a single dropout or performance issue whatsoever! And to top it of hands down best people to talk to ever didn't have to repeat myself once like you do 20 times with iinet. Also iinet was requesting to send there own personal technician to check my service as it constantly dropped out and ran 5mps yet the problem is simply on there end. Once again save yourself the stress and bullshit excuses from this company as they simply do not care about the customer or resolving issues fast if you want good service go to aussie broadband!

Leave while you still can

Genuinely baffling how incompetent these people are- me and my partner have been bounced back and promised call backs after being assured of an easy re-sign process after moving. Fast forward a week later and no amount of progress has been made. Not to mention the almost 45 minute wait times when we've gotten in contact throughout this week to see if there's been progression of our issue. If we were lucky enough to get through, the person on the other end was either impossible to understand or sounded like they were in a room of 100 other people on the phone- suppose that's the joys of offshoring call centres. If I could give zero stars I would. Ridiculous.

Loyal customer let down

I started with Westnet some 20 plus yrs ago. What a fantastic little personalised company. Fast forward to the last 2 yrs or so since it was taken over by iinet/ TPG and I wouldn't give you the time of day for them.

So much so, even after I gave notice to cancel my account they still charged my account for the following month. Several phone calls ( and on hold hours) later i was promised a refund, with a 1 month free extension to use the internet (why???), and advised no need to return the modem - its too old. Then I get an email request requesting the return of the modem. Another call later to sort that out, now I don't need to return the modem. Your account is closed ect. Not more than 1 day later I get charged another months fee... random dates I might add... serious does anyone in iinet talk to the person beside them? Or is this process of cancelling your account deliberately difficult so you can't unsubscribe????? I wouldn't touch the company now. So sad.. it was the best... and now perhaps it's one of the worst!

Ban the robots!

As the result of my credit card being compromised I needed to restore multiple direct debits for a range of companies. This process ranged from easy to extremely frustrating. iiNet was the latter. Eventually, after spending needless hours listening to a robot and pressing numerous numbers, I mistakenly selected the number for Sales. Bingo! I got a real person - because a robot can’t sell me something! Faisal listened, took my new card details and solved my problem in minutes. GIVE THAT MAN A PAY RISE!!
However, I was still receiving multiple emails and texts days later, threatening to suspend my internet service - I use the term loosely!

Save Your Money — iiNet Is No Longer Worth It! Avoid!!!

I was an iiNet customer for many years and it used to be a reliable service. That changed recently when iiNet grandfathered my 120/60 plan and forced me onto an 80/34 plan. Surprisingly, the service was still usable for a while — but about a month ago everything fell apart. Since then, my download speeds have become extremely inconsistent: sometimes 70 Mbps, other times crashing to 2–10 Mbps for no reason. Upload remains steady, which clearly shows the issue is iiNet’s congested network, not my home setup.

Most of the time, I’ve had to rely on my mobile data because iiNet has become so unstable and practically unusable.

This has made streaming, browsing, and everyday use frustrating and unreliable. After watching the service deteriorate for weeks, I’ve switched providers.

Until iiNet improves their backhaul and stops overselling their network, spare your hard-earned money and avoid this company. I wish it wasn’t true, but the service has gone downhill dramatically.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. Cancelled my internet by mistake a week and a half early and then couldn’t restore it (on their own system). Offered no viable solution, and were hopeless to deal with. If you’re shopping for an internet provider, go with literally anyone else

one of the worst companies to deal with I have been a client for over twenty years, I'm trying to upgrade to fibre before the end of the year, have had nothing but trouble trying to get online to do upgrade. Tried phoning but couldn't get through, left my phone number to contact me as of now its been 6 hours and I don't expect that to change. I'm ready to change my provider as they expect you to sit around at there beckon call.

Told a technician would come Wednesday, nothing. Transferred all over the place. Avoid at all costs. No Australian based staff, worst service experience I’ve ever had.

WORST COMPANY

i cancelled in july and have been charged monthly since, i also accidentally hadn’t turned off my automatic bpays so im owed $684.47

when i rang this week, Guy on phone would not listen, even told me off! guy said would email… he hasn’t, i have logged on in app (which literally boots me every 2mins so i’ve had to verify myself 20 times just to see invoices) and the amount they so im owed is $200 LESS than i should be!

someone needs to send me an email address of someone i can contact to share my working out of my credit and how they intend to pay me back???

honestly worst customer service, and for an internet company WORST APP IVE EVER HAD!!! cannot do anything on it without having to sign in and verify myself every 2minutes!
