If your accountant has this tool for you then avoid them

My accountants make me use this tool. It is the reason I am probably going to leave them. It is just awful. I don't trust it at all to the point that I keep my own records in Excel in a massive spreadsheet in the cloud.

When I first started on my own it was all a bit daunting. New work, new set up, finances, legal stuff. I needed a tool that was intuitive and easy to understand. Kashflow is neither.

I have no idea who designed it but it is not designed for non-accountants. It doesn't guide you through a 'human' based journey which cuts through all the technical accountancy terminology and processes.

The biggest issue I've had is with matching transactions. Just when I've matched entries in Kashflow to transactions in my bank, something (or someone) decides to create new ones.

That's just one example. I hate it. I am constantly having to fix things. I don't have time to fix things. I just need something simple, intuitive and robust that guides me through what I need to do. I shouldn't have to know what to do - I am not an accountant!

Someone please take a sledgehammer to this god-awful piece of rubbish. Nobody should be made to suffer using it.

I am an Professional Accountant

I am an Professional Accountant and Bookkeeper, and wish I could help all the people giving such dreadful reviews with Kashflow. My clients all love Kashflow, but then I give them all the support they need and on the rare occassions I have to contact support, for a client, I have never had any issues getting any done. Perhaps you should contact me about how to get the most from this great system and ask me for support on using Kashflow as it really is very good in more ways than just for accounting!

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. I've been trying to cash in my referral bonus for months but still no payment. There's no simply way to communicate with them when you need help. Emailed a complaint, no response, looking at these reviews they are clearly not interested. I have three accounts with Kashflow and will be taking my £800/year elsewhere.

don't even bother making an enquiry - what a bunch of jokers

On the recommendation of my accountant I made contact with them & what an appalling first experience!

Person from sales that originally emailed me after I asked some questions has already left, so I get through to a payroll 'specialist' but I wanted sales but the 'specialist' just assumed I wanted payroll. This sales person was clearly on a mobile phone that was continually breaking up.

Once I'd answered some irrelevant questions and we established why I was calling he spoke so negatively of the product that I considered hanging up!

But they then pushed me to the web site to do a web chat with someone else. Go to web site and the chat service asks what you need help with & when you're finally connected you're then asked what can they help you with, i.e. they didn't even bother reading the question I'd already typed.

They sent me a 2.5hr long tutorial video which answers my question!

I think I'll leave it there.

And this is meant to be a market leading company. What an absolute bunch of jokers.

Have been chasing my referral fee for almost 6 months now. Happy to take the money for my subscription and the companies that I've recommended but completely fail to provide the reward as promised.

Rubbish.

Rubbish.

Not fit for purpose, does not work properly.

If your subscription is missed it asks you to re-subscribe but the payment phase doesn't happen straight away.

Doesn't work at all.

Added payment details 3 days ago, still saying we need to subscribe when we have been.

Stay away.

KashFlow AVOID!

KashFlow was recommended by an accountant so despite reading bad reviews I went ahead and started using them. What a mistake! Bank feeds are an absolute joke and continually need updating. Pop ups keep appearing and can’t be stopped. Customer services take 4-5 days to respond only to tell you they can’t help! Invoices disappear and are never seen again!
A different accountant I work for (on a different job) recommendation was to use Xero for Tax Digital - what a difference! Been using for 18 months and no problems that couldn’t be solved and bank feeds work perfectly.
Can’t believe how bad KashFlow software is. Please don’t make my mistake. AVOID!

I had been a sage customer for 23 years…

I had been a sage customer for 23 years and felt the grass was greener with kashflow and in April 2019 moved. Some parts of the system I thought were more user friendly but fundamentally I don't think the software is just there yet and clearly they lack any expertise in their support. Many of my requests for help in setting up fell on deaf ears but I had a friend who is html expert and he resolved my problems not kashflow. Experienced many issues with kashflow including # showing on all statements in the title instead of invoice number. Had a customer in Falkland Islands, for some reason you have to select a country and Falklands is listed as Falkland Islands malvinos .. to cut Long story short this is most offensive to islanders .. asked kashflow to remove malvinos and 9 months later still isn't removed. Customer statements can't be issued in block, facility showing in software but just doesn't work and software doesn't indicate not working. Found lots of bugs with the system and the final straw came when half a dozen invoices were issued with vat calculated wrong .. all entered correctly and kashflow support couldn't resolve. I had to try and check vat on every invoice before sending which was impossible to keep remembering and therefore decided I had no faith in the software long term high is sad. I've just gone back to sage April 2020. Don't regret trying kashflow and just a shame they haven't got expertise in company to address software issues and drive it forward. Now back with sage and whilst it's a bit more singing and dancing than I need, I have confidence in software to be accurate and support via advantage services to address issues promptly and confidently. Awful

Awful - Don't bother, Ive been with Kashflow for five years and no customer service what so ever - Just transferred to Sage wish I had done this from day one. Don't touch with a Barge pole, Nothing works, E mails, banks, don't even try taking payments. Charged for everything, goes up every year as well. leave well alone

Appalling

Appalling. DO NOT USE - would give a NEGATIVE number of stars if I could.

The "support" (if you can call it that) is non-existent. Takes them days to respond and usually they do so with such cursory answers that you are obliged to wait another 3 days for a clarification you were forced to request.

The software itself is HORRIBLE. The bank reconciliation system is just nasty and time-consuming. Nothing is easy.

When MTD came in, their VAT system failed to file my return properly, so I had to get my accountant to do it manually (costing me a load more money).

Bank feeds failed last year so I was having to manually build and import spreadsheets of transactions from bank exports. Just appalling.

Bank feeds are still not working reliable. When held to account about it, they blamed a third party.

They are also crafty operators. If you try the package for free (a reasonable expectation, to find out if you can use it) you suddenly find that the price has gone up from the intro offer. I challenged them on this and got short shrift.

I tried to cancel a payroll package I had with them, because that wasn't any good either, and they re-enrolled me for a further year, charged me and now are disputing refunding money for a package I have not used.

Today the website is dead and I cannot access my accounts when I need to.

I would strongly urge anyone considering Kashflow: DO NOT USE.

Used it for many years

Used it for many years, to sum up - the product offering is trash.
The number of times there is a bug with loading pages or saving po/invoices is unreal. Current down with a HTTP 500 error.

It feels like a program that has been forgotten about and left behind by all other providers.

Don't waste your time.

Oh dear

Oh dear - we have used Kashflow since 2010 when we selected it over Xero. At that time, it wasnt under the ownership of IRIS, who have taken this product backwards whilst Xero has evolved into a world class package. We have spent the last 2 months transferring data away from Kashflow. This was prompted by their awful handling of bank feed security changes. Whilst most other accounting packages planned for this properly, Kashflow were caught short and even months later I cant access American Express via bank feeds.

The biscuit is on 5 March 2020 some genius at Kashflow decided to update their integration with the card platform Stripe. This botched update has led to payments in Stripe not linking to Kashflow and has caused customers to be billed twice (Kashflow auto credit control chasing for payment) and complaints. I am sat here with no idea how we begin about fix this. I did email Kashflow support 4 days ago but havent had the courtesy of a response.

Whatever size your business, do not make the mistake of using Kashflow. Most bookkeepers havent used it and as a result you will pay more for your year end accounts. Also, the integrations with other software is incredibly poor.

Kashflow will limit your business, and reduce your financial visibility when compared to Quickbooks or Xero.

I cannot stress what a mistake Kashflow has been for us. Avoid at all costs,

Poor Attitude from Customer Service

Software is very basic - one man bands etc. On their splash page I was offered an annual price of £125 plus VAT, plus an option to try it for free. Once I'd tried it for free I decided to pay the £125 only it had gone up to £185??? However, the £125 price was still being offered on their splash page. I couldn't take advantage of this offer as I'd tried if for free. The mind boggles. At £185 may as well use Xero which is much better and more comprehensive.

I would give this company a negative number of stars if I could.

If I could give this company zero or a negative number of stars, I would.

First, their software is very good. It enables someone with no knowledge of accounting procedures to produce accurate accounts quickly and easily.

That is where the praise stops. Their customer service department is not only the worst I have experienced, it is the worst that I can imagine.

I had a problem with overcharging on my account. I sent an email. No reply. Sent another. No reply. Repeated the process for about a week. Never received a reply or acknowledgement. Sent a message via their chat box. Again, no reply.

I could not telephone, as there is no phone number on the company's website, and I guessed that a letter would go the same way as my emails. Eventually, I had to threaten them with Trading Standards and the Fraud Squad.

This elicited a response and the problem was resolved... about three weeks later.

There are other online services similar to Kashflow. I strongly recommend that you use one of them.

Subscription renewal has locked me out

I have been a Kashflow customer for a year now and I'm not impressed with the clunky interfaces and lack of proper customer support.

Today, my subscription expired, no prior notice, so my account is locked and I cannot invoice clients or check on payments.

There is no 'subscribe' button on my account so cannot even pay to get the service back up and running.

Called the 0800 number, just a recorded message pointing out all the answers are on their website - really?

I'll be moving away from kashFlow over the weekend.

Honestly don't waste your time

Honestly don't waste your time. Such poor customer service, tried out new HR software and they didn't inform us it was a 12 month contract so even though we literally used it all of once have been trying to get us to pay for a whole year. They said it was in their ts and cs but no-one reads every line and it should be made very clear from the start its a contract. Have used them for accountancy and payroll and have been okay but after this am leaving for a company with better customer service
