I would like to share my experience with Ketron's after-sales service. I own a Ketron Event, an expensive professional keyboard, and unfortunately I have found it extremely difficult to get assistance now that the instrument is out of warranty.

I have contacted the recommended technical assistance several times by both email and telephone, but I have received no response.

I am not asking for a free repair. I am perfectly willing to pay for the service; I simply want to have my keyboard repaired by an authorised technician.

My experience while the keyboard was under warranty was much better. However, once the warranty expired, obtaining official assistance has proved extremely difficult.

For a professional instrument at this price level, I believe customers should be able to access reliable repair services even after the warranty has expired. At the moment, I am left with a faulty keyboard and no clear way to have it serviced through the recommended official channels.

I hope Ketron improves its after-sales support, because the quality of the instrument should be matched by the quality of the customer service.

I have enjoyed keyboards, including the piano, for over 25 years. In December of 2023, I purchased the Yamaha Genos2 when it was first released in the U.S. last summer (2025), I decided to add the Ketron EVM to my Genos2.

Ketron, made in Italy, is not a brand name familiar in America. I first became aware of Ketron products by watching YouTube videos by Keyboard World (U.K.) and AjamSonic (U.S.). Both are excellent sources of information on the Ketron EVM and the entire Ketron Event series.

Ketron is, to my knowledge, the only keyboard manufacturer offering a module that attaches to a keyboard. The EVM is a quite small box and provides the complete set of capabilities of the flagship Ketron Event keyboard lacking only the keys. It is connected in a very simple setup to my Yamaha Genos2 via MIDI and works very well with the Genos2, allowing me to play either the Genos2 only, the Ketron EVM only, or both simultaneously.

A common feature of all arranger keyboards is the ability to split the keyboard with the left hand playing styles (musically appropriate combinations of instruments) as an accompaniment together with a wide array of possible right-hand voices. The Ketron EVM is unique in that it affords many styles with acoustically recorded loops which follow the left-hand chords and provide the sound of an authentic accompanying band. The richness and variety of accompaniment styles of the EVM are remarkable, and A.J. of AjamSonic offers Pro Packs with many additional styles that also contain many real instrument recordings in addition to MIDI instruments. A.J. is a recording engineer and a very talented musician who puts a great deal of effort into successfully creating rich and vibrant styles to supplement those provided by Ketron.

The Ketron EVM is also a diverse and capable media player, handling many types of files, including MIDI, .wav (audio), .mp3 (audio), .mp4 (video), and .kar (karaoke) files as well as its own proprietary system file types. A.J. has prepared and offered for sale two volumes of Tune 1000 files, affording access to literally thousands of songs in all genres. In fact, the EVM has two media players, and one can cross-fade from one to the other.

The Ketron EVM takes a unique approach to voices, I.e. right hand sounds with a Voice 1 and Voice 2 button on the Ketron interface, each of which allows the user to choose any or all of three additional voices for a total of six right-hand voices that can be layered together. The EVM interface also affords a set of ABCD buttons to which any of the Ketron’s voices may be assigned for easy and instant access while playing. Interface buttons also provide for intros, endings, breaks, fills, and subtle, but distinct, variations in the style. Ketron supplies a tablet that is connected through HDMI and USB to the EVM, but the EVM may also be controlled wirelessly with an iPad with no latency or lag. This is only a superficial listing of the many features of the Ketron EVM.

For any arranger keyboard, the single most important feature is how it sounds. Having compared the Genos2 and the EVM extensively, my opinion is that the Ketron EVM has the better sound. Certainly, with respect to left-hand styles, the acoustic styles of the EVM are superior to either the Yamaha or Korg instruments. Even the right-hand voices of the EVM are as good and sometimes better than the corresponding voice of its competitors.

My only criticism of the EVM is that its operating system (OS) is not trouble-free. During my work, I have had a number of times when the interface has locked up, refusing to respond to any touch, and, even more seriously, occasions where the interface seems fine but does not function correctly and requires a reboot that solves the problem.

Ketron (Italy) - MUSIC. I supported them for a long time, the sound quality was there - but their product are not always “intuitive”… and the service, extremely disappointing. I won’t get into the whole story, but it’s pretty sad that they simply don’t care about their clients. They can't even reply to their own technicians that are trying to get proper support for their buyers. Best to buy from other world renowned bigger brands.

An honest review
From the sales pitches, the Ketron Lounge seemed to be the perfect solution for me, as a pro solo performer.

OH DEAR!! what a let-down.
The Ketron Lounge is nowhere near worth the coin it's on sale for. Yes, it has some cracking live-sounding midi patches and drum loops etc – but also some not so great too
The guitar sound effects, amp simulations and vocal FX are awful. Not 'pro gear'

DSP effects have very limited user setting - such as eq /wet / dry / feedback - are simply not sufficient for a pro sound needs. And although some guitar effects are 'usable' – the limitations are the same.
Ajay (Ajansonic - YouTube) acknowledged my review and suggested that I opt for the SD90.

The unit takes a while to boot up, and I suspect the processor has just about enough juice to do what it needs to.

Like any new gear, it takes a bit of time to learn to navigate your way around it, but I felt this was too clunky when needing to make changes at speed.

The ability to play various media formats, is a good feature.
I did not get into using the 'Stem' features' (which look very useful) and so I cannot comment on their utility in a live setting

My verdict:
I don't expect to see many user reviews on YouTube, but I can imagine many being returned due to disappointing features as aforementioned

The Ketron Lounge is disappointing and well overpriced. Having used it over a whole week, I would expect to pay around £450 - £600 at the most. The Ketron Lounge is beginner-to mid-level standard of gear - not the current £1600 mark.

This review is not about Ketrons products, but of their service - or "No service".
I bought, 2½ year ago, a 2.700 Euro music instrument item - SD90 in Denmark . 3 month ago it broke down. I am very dependent on this item, as I am a professional musician.
Mid August I sent them a detailed request for help about the repair, using their "Contact form" on their website. 10 days later, on the 19 of august, I still got any answer, and did send an email. Still no answer. Again I contacted them by email 23 of sept.. still no answer here 12 of october. I now have been forced to buy a new 2.700 Euro item!
In my 45 years as a musician, I think this kind of service beats them all.
Great products - but no help when it brakes down - Very sad
