When selling my flat

When selling my flat, the buyer used Kitsons and they were very slow and constantly said they just had one query left. A sale that should have taken 3 months, took 6 months and this caused a lot of stress. They were hard to get hold of by the estate agent and my solicitors and I was left extremely frustrated by their seeming lack of interest in getting the sale progressed. Despite numerous promised that exchange would happen in December, they failed and then they failed to exchange on the first day back in January. I wouldn't use them.

Beware - the (very) small print!

Beware - be warned!

(Update this firm is now called Kitson Boyce Legal Services) in my experience illegal services!

In my experience and in my opinion this firm of solicitors knowingly and intentionally deceived my late mother by withholding crucial information relating to the small print contained within the terms and conditions of certain life insurance investment policies held with a value in excess of £2M.

By not making my mother aware of the details of the small print in the policy documents, they were able to appoint themselves after her passing as discretionary trustees in perpetuity (for life) thus taking full control of the proceeds from the policies which were cashed in after her passing. This was contrary to my mother’s intentions and wishes which were clearly shown in the original policy documents.

I believe these actions have allowed Kitsons to pay themselves huge annual fees, commissions and receive incentive bonuses, all without any accountability, responsibility or inspection by any third party or to the named beneficiaries within the original policy documents.

Kitsons promised to provide certain documents as evidence to prove their decisions and action were legitimate, this evidence has never been provided.

Kitsons refuse to answer any questions to explain and justify their actions.

Despite making clear undertakings and promises Kitsons have:

Failed to provide evidence to support the decisions made.

Failed to provide annual accounts.

Failed to provide details on any financial distributions and advances.

Failed to provide details on appointment of any additional beneficiaries.

Failed to provide details on trust investment performance.

Failed to provide details of all fees charged, commissions and bonuses received.

Nearly caused the sale to fall through.

Kitsons represented the sellers when we were buying a house. The laziness and amateurish behavior of the Kitsons solicitor nearly caused the transaction to fail, and we and the estate agent had to constantly bother the seller's solicitor to complete even the most basic task. I wouldn't recommend them for conveyancing at all given the lack of professionalism that we witnessed.

Excellent Advice and Great People to Deal with

We are a medium sized business and have used Kitsons for Employment related advice for over 12 years. At all times we have found their advice excellent and "down to earth". They speak to us in easy to understand terms and the advice is practical and focussed, rather than "textbook". The partners and staff are really friendly to deal with and when something is urgent, they always rise to the challenge and deliver for us. We would have no hesitation in recommending Kitsons employment team to other businesses.

Underhand and incompetent. AVOID!

I was recommended them as good for my divorce, they cost me £12000. I had to actually remind my solicitor that she was acting for me, not my ex husband. She was intimidated by other solicitor only too easily. They have not represented in an actual hearing even once. I had to take act for myself because they took all the funds. I
had to defend mine and my 4 children's rights in court because of their greed and lack of accountability. I will be taking this further including media, they are not fit for purpose.

Dreadful Service

This company dealt with the probate for both of my parents when they died. They were very reluctant to pay over funds as they are released, making excuse after excuse as to why they had not paid, they needed constant chasing up and delayed, delayed delayed whilst they had huge sums residing in their bank account that should have been paid over to my siblings and me.
Because of the poor service when my father died, my siblings and I completed all of the probate forms that we could and agreed a fee with Kitson's for "rubber stamping" them. Again, they delayed, delayed, delayed, then tried to overcharge us and then hung onto the last payment without notifying us for months and only paid up once reminded, giving yet another excuse. AVOID
