Arrived to airport just to find out…
Arrived to airport just to find out that flight is overbooked and the only chance to get on would be if someone didnt show up. Luckily got on the flight, but of course not my luggage. Strongly advise against
good, but could do much better.
Good things about KMmalter are:
(1) Their website is easy to use for booking flights and offers a good choice of times.
(2) Easy check-in at LHR & Malta.
(3) easy to add extras on your flight, ie luggage.
The terrible things about the airline are:
They do not honour their contract with clients, and worse, once you pull them up on it, they make excuses, they expect you to believe the excuse.
IE
We booked our seats in February, when we checked in online, we were given different seats (row 11, extra leg room) We emailed the customer services & got a reply after we came back & their reply was to get the extra leg room, you have to check in at the airport as seats are near an emergency door.
(1) This was never stated when we booked verbally or by e-mail.
(2) The new seats we were allocated also had extra leg room (row 13), so why were we given different seats to what we booked?
(3) On the journey home, we checked in online for the seats we had booked in February (same seats, row 11), and nothing was said. Our original seats were either given to staff members, family or friends who did not want to sit in row 13.
(3) Would I book with this company again? I don't think so because it caused great stress before the holidays even started, and just been fobbed off twice; it is just not acceptable for a supposedly professional company.
They have none responsive attitude to…
They have none responsive attitude to their customers, they are very quick to charge for extra luggage allowance, but when you receive your luggage and it has been destroyed during the delivery to luggage claim, they will not accept responsibility for their handling of your luggage, I tried to get some at the airport to help regarding damages, they will not respond, calling them was pointless since they pass you to 10 different departments with no one answer to your complaint, emailing them, and you’ll get no reply whatsoever. I will never travel with them and advise to get another reputable airline for your travel.
Absolute scam
As all the other reviews have stated, they just make nonsense up about their baggage so no matter what you do, what you pay for in advance, they just charge you again anyway or refuse to let you board. Not only that, they then force you to pay for checked baggage as it's the most expensive!! So now I have to wait ages to get it back too after being robbed of 55euros!!!!!
NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE WILL I EVER GIVE THIS COMPANY ANOTHER CENT OF MY MONEY TIL THE DAY I DIE.
THE worse air line I have ever been…
THE worse air line I have ever been with! Never doing this again! I would rather WALK home than ever Fly with Km Malta airlines.
Very low quality airlines
High price, low quality airlines. Flight Malta - Amsterdam, not possible to check in on their site the day before and so not possible to select a window seat. The cabin crew, with one exception were completely lacking of respect towards passengers. This was the first time and also the last time I flew with KM Malta Airlines.
THE WORST AIRLINE-EXPERIENCE EVER
Despite having already paid for both my flight and a 10 kg checked bag, I was wrongly charged again at the airport due to a system error that incorrectly displayed the baggage weight as 15 kg. Additionally, although there was clearly space available for hand luggage, I was not allowed to take my bag into the cabin.
What is even more unacceptable is the behavior of your staff member at the check-in desk. She was extremely rude and unprofessional, and even went so far as to threaten that I would not be allowed to board the flight. This was despite the fact that I had paid for both my ticket and baggage in full. Her attitude was completely inappropriate and added unnecessary stress to my travel experience.
Disgusting service boarding at Malta…
Disgusting service boarding at Malta airport. Always flown it’s my backpack under the seat in front and now they have just charged me €55 and they had to take my backpack from me and put it in the hold. Josey and Ayrton were the worse! Never flying KM again
If you’re familiar with bad airlines in…
If you’re familiar with bad airlines in the U.S. like Spirit or Frontier, KM Malta Airlines is essentially the Spirit/Frontier of Europe. I strongly advise against flying with this airline.
I flew from Rome to Malta with no issues—they checked my backpack and allowed it as carry-on. However, on the return trip, they suddenly claimed that my bag didn’t meet their carry-on requirements. KM Malta is a terrible airline that seems to be focused on squeezing extra money from passengers. Avoid them if you can.
Km Malta is a ferly great European…
Km Malta is a ferly great European Airline it has good aircraft few Delays and great crew and pilots and the the aircraft are quite clean its pre-order is delicious and fresh and so is its buy on bord food. The only down side is the ground handling company that they use at Malta international Air port and some times there prices are over the top. I would appreciate if they would give a compliment drink and sank. over all all my Experience with Km Malta is grate and i would recommend it any one i look forward to keep fling with theme.
Charged €55 for a 1 inch handle.
Travelled from Gatwick to Malta no issue. Return trip at departure gate in Malta then told my bag did not meet small luggage criteria it was a 1 inch handle that caused the problem. The bag fitted easily under the seat in front with my legs either side. The flight was a quarter full.Ground staff above rude they took enjoyment in causing me distress and humiliation. Complaint raised refund refused . Travelled with old Air Malta since 1989. I lost €55 they have lost 2 return tickets in September booked with another airline in addition all future business. You are no longer the pride of Malta shame on you. Empty seats on your flight a 3rd full outboard a quarter full return speaks for itself
Can’t fault it!
Really good! Flew business class from Heathrow to Malta and then the return journey a few days later.
Both times flight was on time, clean, comfortable with fantastic food and drink. Services was impeccable especially from a gentleman called John on the 29/5/25 at 16:50 to Heathrow.
Will always fly Malta air in future!
Ignore the bad reviews just make sure you do check your luggage is the correct size however they do tell you this well in advance!
Service at the gate 👎
Tickets were purchased with 10 kg hand luggage per person, when boarding the plane we had to pay extra 25 euros for our paid hand luggage which did not exceed the weight, pure theft, first and last time we used Air Malta. Service at the gate very rude and aggressive.
I do not recommend.
Poor Management and Customer Service
I was flying with my son from Munich to Malta (KM307), we had booked an aisle and window seat in the 5th row. Apparently, there was a mix up with the seating and the seats were double-booked.
I was approached by a blonde flight attendant who was extremely arrogant and rude, and even though I showed her my boarding pass with the correct seats she forced us to move to the back of the plane and I had to sit in a middle seat on a full flight in economy. I didn't want to make a scene and argue with her because my son was there and we were headed to our holiday.
There was row just in front of us that was empty, but she wouldn't move us there because it was business class.
I fly quite often and have never been treated so poorly - I would never fly with KMMalta again...no wonder the previous incarnation of the company went under :(
Nothing but a good experience!
Nothing but a good experience!
Had seats next to each other and both flights outbound and on return were ahead of schedule!
At Gatwick there was no problem with the extra bag I paid for, just had to show them confirmation.
In Malta on the way back they were hot on small luggage sizes but thats all I have to say.
Bad experience...
I flew from London Heathrow to Malta on 22nd April and checked in online the previous day. I was issued with a boarding pass for seat 11D in an emergency exit row. At Heathrow there was no baggage drop and we queued for nearly an hour to check in. The staff member looked at me and then my date of birth on my passport and then said I was being re-allocated another seat AS I WAS TOO OLD TO SIT IN AN EXIT ROW. It was their "policy" to seat only passengers under 60 in this row. (I am in no way incapacitated). I asked to see a supervisor who was extremely rude and was still told this was their rule. I was reallocated a seat at the back, near the toilets. The supervisor said I could see her at the gate. I did - she was extremely curt and she changed her story to say this seat needed to be paid for. On board I questioned the man in that seat who said he had been allocated it at the airport and didn't pay any supplement. I asked the steward on board about this ageist policy and he said NONE existed.
I've emailed the airline but have had no satisfactory response. I am disgusted at this ageism and lack of apology from this airline, so I suggest avoiding them if possible.
Misleading upgrade and poor cabin experience
Having booked my economy flight, I was given the opportunity to upgrade. The fee seemed reasonable , as I felt that I could usefully spend some time working in the business lounge. I carefully checked all the wording before booking to see whether lounge access was excluded, but it said nothing. Only once I had booked did I get a confirmation stating 'Business Value', though still nothing about restricted lounge access. Of course, on arrival at the partner lounge I was turned away - apparently not an uncommon occurence.
On my return leg (I hadn't upgraded) the announcement suggested passengers use the toilet before landing. Soon there were around 12-15 passengers queueing for the single toilet. My seat was nearer the front, so I headed up there where there was no queue at all. I was turned back in a very condenscending manner. The dividing curtain was open with only about 7 rows of business class seats and probably less than half of those occupied. I pointed out that it would simply not be practical for everyone to use a single toilet in time, so eventually, having quoted various directives at me, she graciously allowed me to use the toilet at the front. I understand the principle of having a separate toilet, but the idea that this might be a pragmatic solution to a real problem simply didn't register.
I have given this 2 stars rather than 1, as the business class meal on the outbound leg was actually quite good - although it was very expensive, given that this was the only useful benefit to the upgrade!
All in all, this was a very disappointing with an airline that should be trying to build loyalty.
TO AVOID
I had a fight from Munich to Lyon with a connexion in Malta.
Impossible to check in online or in the airport for the connexion. I was refused during the connexion and I had to check in again. The plane was already 30 min late (and the staff seemed to don't care at all about that) and the connexion time was only 1h. So I had to sprint through the gates and almost missed my flight.
Very poor customer service and no solution for the technical issues on KM Malta website.
I ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMAND TO TRAVEL WITH KM MALTA.
It’s complicated for customers to…
It’s complicated for customers to understand the information of 10kg checked luggage on booking tickets. Customers will be charged 25€ fine just to bring that 10kg check luggage on board. They gave no information about this fine when booking.
