We were charged €110 at the airport for luggage that was already included in our Thomas Cook booking. KM Malta Airlines claimed the travel agent hadn’t paid their fees, even after we showed proof of p... See more

Like many other KM customers I was…
Like many other KM customers I was unable to add extra hand luggage. The website doesn't allow it so I telephoned their customer service dept and was assured that they would charge my card 20euros and I should expect confirmation within 48 hours. I thought it strange that they didn't ask for the three digit security code.I wasn't charged and I didn't receive an email either. So a week later I tried once more, their customer service again didn't ask for the security code but I insisted that they needed it but I felt that she wasn't inputting anything. Needless to say they didn't process it and I believe that KM Airlines won't do it as they can then charge you double at the check in. Be warned... and also their bag sizes are smaller than Easyjet.

Getting my luggage checked in was really quick. The landing of the plane was fabulous 👌
By far the worst airline I have ever…
By far the worst airline I have ever flown with
Rude staff
Slow check in
Extra costs just awful
Awful customer service
Tried to add baggage against booking at later date and the website wouldn’t allow , then when we complained at check in they charged us £40 for a 10kg overhead bag.
Plane flight - ok but plane very dated and everything drink and food is charged at very high prices
One of our group never received their luggage and on reporting they said that the luggage was still in London , third day into the holiday and still no luggage and no remuneration .
Tried again to change return baggage allowance on line and still not able to spoke to customer service and after 15 min wait got through to customer service who wait it takes two to three days to upgrade luggage allowance .
What are they using chalk boards
We won’t be using this company again the customer service is appalling
Avoid this airline at all cost!
I tried to book a cabin bag and since it was only possible through the customer support I was literally a week chatting and calling with them to finally book it. But after that I've had to wait another few days until I got a confirmation which was a written confirmation by customer support (not an official one). This gave me an headache at boarding time because the booking did go not go through at even though I had the written confirmation it did not meant anything at this and had to pay EXTRA EUR 55. On the flight back there was not an issue at all which was very confusing to us. Anyway if you can avoid this airline just do, it it's not worth it!
Biggest scam Airline in Historie
Biggest scam Airline in Historie! Allowing online Check-in as Economy and then Charge you 25€ for your baggage
Avoid this airline if you can.
If you can avoid this airline, please do. We got charged €55 euros for a small piece of luggage, that was completely fine when we were coming to Malta, and the flight was half full! We should have read the reviews in advance because this has happened to others.
The staff (well the ones we dealt with) seem to have no empathy towards anyone and on the actual flights, the seats are less comfortable than Ryanair which is wild considering they KM act as if they have a premium service. Avoooiiiidddddd.
Avoid This Airline at All Costs, Big Clowns
I booked two flight tickets with KM Malta for Milan (reservations UNNWJF and GYQZFE) for April 2025. Due to a medical appointment, I had to cancel both.
Their policy states that cancellations within 24 hours are eligible for a full refund, minus a €10 fee per ticket, which seemed fair. However, I was shocked to receive only €8 back from the €90 I paid!
When I contacted customer support, I was told I exceeded the 24-hour window by just 5 hours and was therefore not entitled to a proper refund. I politely asked to cancel the refund request since I'd rather keep the tickets than receive a ridiculous €8— but was told this was impossible.
I chose KM Malta over Ryanair, paying four times more for what I assumed would be better service. Instead, I was scammed out of a few dozen euros. As a frequent traveler, I will never book with this airline again, even if I have to pay five times more for a competitor.
Absolutely disgraceful. Avoid at all costs!
Don't listen to all other low rated…
Don't listen to all other low rated reviews Malta air is an excellent airline staff are very friendly and happy to have you onboard. I love flying with them I have never had a bad flight with them.
Comfortable airline for a small island…
Comfortable airline for a small island like this. Staff was good and flight was descent. I liked it and also the livery.
Overbooking flights and not reimbursing for replacement flight
KmMalta Airlines overbooked my flight and would not allow me to fly. Apparently they feel that overbooking is a perfectly legitimate practice. They were not at all apologetic, did not supply me with the form I needed to prove that I was bumped off the flight and then claimed that I was a No Show and refused to reimburse me for the Easy Jet flight I had to take instead. Terrible service. DO NOT FLY ON KMMALTA AIRLINES.
They cannot even fix the simplest question and let their regular customers suffer
Made a reservation last week via KMmaltairlines.com, at time of payment the system gave an error message and brought me back to the payment screen. Meanwhile, the money has been deducted from my credit card. The reservation has not been made. So I called the service center. They could not find the payment but they did find the reservation without a reservation number. As I really need that ticket, in order for them to proces, they needed my credit card again and another payment was done. Till today, the reservation is made and paid for, but the other payment has never been released and blocking my credit card. After 5 calls and some emails, they still have not been able to help me. I sent them screenshots of the double payment. My bank also sees the 2 payments but cannot do anything. KMmaltairlines need to release it.
They really need to sort their shit out. I am flying twice a year business class with them together with a couple of other colleagues. But if this is the way they want to do business, I will stop flying with them as well as encourage everyone I know to do so
Cabin crew is horrible!
I got a business class seat. The cabin crew did not help with put my luggage above the head although I said to them that I was pregnant and needed support. I can’t believe how bad the service is. The business class section is no difference either from the economy. No value for money, honestly. So low cost carrier although they marketed it to give a fake better impression than that
Ridiculous service as Malta national…
Ridiculous service as Malta national airport on travelling to Malta for a funeral. On my return whisky waiting at the gate they wanted to take my underwear bag in the hold when I told them it’s an under seat bag they said I had to prove it and got a setting for me to fit my bag in and remove items. It fit and they then told me actually I can put the items back cos it can be a bit bigger. There were 0 issues boarding at Gatwick and it was extremely unprofessional and a waste of time and resources to try and threaten me with paying 55 euro which was unnecessary as I know my bag fits under the seat. They ignored everything I said regarding having travelled here with it under the seat. The last thing your customers need is money scrounging attempts like this on any day let alone when journeying for a funeral.
What a rip off
What a rip off. As many say, the staff in Malta, the ones that come here for a new lease of importance, think that making clients pay more money of what they have already paid is going to get them up the hierarchy of money grabbing hoarders at the top. Coming down is fine and acceptable like most airports / airlines and reasonable logic of staff. Here, needing to impress the Maltese or foreign hungry staff needing to make that extra marginal mark up from each customer. Avoid. Absolute scam of an airline. Lost a Maltese ever coming on board again.
systematic charge of hand luggage
There seems to be a systematic charge for hand luggage. Every other person on the flight home to Zurich was charged with an extra fee - to everyones surprise - as the flight TO MALTA was perfectly fine. After reading online, this seems to be a systematic approach for the airline to make extra money and an additional 20-25% on the ticket. The charge was topped with a very rude behaviour from the ground personnel and meant that the last impression of this destination is scammy and rude.
The witches by the checkin counter at…
The witches by the checkin counter at Malta airport where terrible. Literally more than the half of the plane must pay for the check in about the size from the backpack. The non educated and dumbass ladies dont understand how it works. Half of the plane had complained. Flight Malta-Brussel 22 february 2025.
Not a great experience
Ugh. Rude staff. Charged €55 on return for a cabin bag that matches the dimensions, weight and was fine to get into the country! It would've fit under the seat easily. They should change their name to "Con Air"
Awful company
Staff rude and entitled. Forced me to check in for a bag that fits under the seat. Paid €80 for 2 bags, they broke one worth €250. Now they offer a compensation of €80. Never again.
KMMalta Airlines: A Masterclass in Customer Unfriendliness – My Worst Experience in 50 Years of Flying
After more than 50 years of flying with various airlines across the globe, I can confidently say that KMMalta Airlines has delivered the most customer-unfriendly experience I’ve ever encountered. If you think airlines have become more customer-centric in recent years, KMMalta Airlines is here to prove you wrong.
My experience started with a simple need: changing the date of our return flight. Their website indicated that the change would cost €170 – an unpleasant but acceptable fee. I was ready to proceed but got a phone call that lasted five minutes. When I returned to finalize the booking, I was shocked to see the price had suddenly jumped to €280.
I contacted customer service, only to encounter an outdated bot that seemed more like a relic from the past than an AI-powered assistant. After some persistence, I finally reached a human, Mia M. (yes, I mention the name in hopes that someone at the airline actually pays attention to their customers). She told me, with a straight face, that the "cheaper seats were gone because someone else booked them."
Knowing this couldn't be true, I checked Skyscanner immediately. What did I find? The exact same flight was available for €74 per ticket – or €148 for both of us. Less than the €170 initially quoted and a far cry from the €280 they were now demanding.
KMMalta Airlines seems to operate under the assumption that passengers are naive and uninformed. In today’s digital age, where information is at everyone’s fingertips, such practices are not just dishonest but self-destructive. Their staff clearly lack any understanding of customer-centricity – the basic principle that customers ultimately pay their salaries and keep the company alive.
If KMMalta Airlines continues on this path, it’s only a matter of time before travelers choose alternatives. After all, trust and transparency are the cornerstones of any successful business – and both are sorely lacking here.
**Advice to fellow travelers:** If you want a reliable, transparent, and customer-friendly experience, steer clear of KMMalta Airlines. And if anyone from the airline reads this: the world has moved on. Maybe it's time you did, too.
