Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 117 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently express significant disappointment with product quality, noting furniture often feels cheaply made with issues like particle board construction, cracking frames, and cushions that quickly sag or shed fabric. Many also report problems with mechanisms failing, screws falling out, and materials like vinyl peeling or being misrepresented as leather, leading to the perception of overpriced and overrated items. However, some customers noted positive interactions with staff, finding them compassionate, friendly, and knowledgeable, and a few were satisfied with their product's comfort and appearance. Conversely, a small portion of people felt dissatisfied with the service, citing difficulties with repairs, misleading information, and unexpected labor charges for warranty claims.

Buyer do your homework

We bought two recliners and both are broken. We let the sales manager talk us into having a service tech come out and adjust the chairs because our feet wouldn't touch the ground, and it did not work. Now they will not replace the chairs. Sad!

We bought 2 sofas from Lazy boy in…

We bought 2 sofas from Lazy boy in Roseville with in 2 weeks the foam starting deteriorating The service man came out a few weeks later. He fixed the motors on the reclining part of the sofas He noticed the sagging of the seats and foot rest he told us the company which is not La-Z-Boy would replace the foam if I contacted them I had a year. It only deteriorated more. We paid over $6,000,00 for them we informed Lazy Boy they said they could do nothing the company that does the repairs would replace the foam free material and labor. We had to pay for the man to come out. They were to send new foam for 4 cushions only sent 2 this has been going on to long and now I was told the other cushion and leg rest parts was ordered but can’t give us a date we need to wait until they are here and then they will give me a date to come out. We went to Lazy Boy for quality. They have had several complaints on their foam. We were never told we could upgrade to a memory foam and now they won’t replace it with a better foam. The quality is just not there.
We will never buy anything from them. I hope you don’t get the same round around as we have

This are our third set of recliners

This are our third set of recliners, and by far the worst. First chairs lasted about 15 years, second ones lasted barely 8 years. These new chairs creak and groan something horrible. I suspect they will be junk before the warranty expires. The cushions are horrible and constantly shift.

DO NOT buy anything from Lazyboy in…

DO NOT buy anything from Lazyboy in North Vancouver, BC I put a poor review on Google and their response was a lie. When I bought it they promise the moon and the stars that you can get it cleaned and that it's guaranteed! This is their response which is a lie I didn't decline they wouldn't follow through with their promise of a guaranteed cleaning. Do not make the same mistake I made and I recommend buying from some where else!
(We are sorry you feel this way. We are confused by your review since our service department offered a courtesy spot-cleaning and you declining it.)

That LA-Z-Boy is not Rolls Royce it’s more ReliantRobin

Bought 3 seater electric recliner and chair at a cost of £4500 .It was eventually delivered after 3 dates it was delivered end of October 2023 . It was to be our last suite as i was told it will last forever this was bought at SCS Darlington .we are foster carers and recieved an emergency placement on November 1st little girl 2 . So we covered the furniture up and kept away from it .little girl has just left in December 2024 so we thought yeah we can finally take the covers off and have use of it .At the store the salesman showed us this suite www sat on it lovely soft leather and very comfortable he told us this was the Roles Royce of sofa and chairs and with the cost being Roles Royce money what was their not to like . Now a year and month later all the covers off it is the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever sat on no soft leather only stretched leather that is so tight it’s rock hard both myself and husband cannot sit on it for long so no watching movies on the sofa for us it is more comfortable to sit on a cushion on the floor that’s how bad it is .

Dreadful product.

Although I have already written a review stating my sofa is the most dreadful uncomfortable heap of rocks I’ve ever been stupid enough to buy, id like to add that I’m still fuming that the company couldn’t care less.
2years in, and I’m putting up with it as I don’t have money to burn to replace the pile of crap I already have.
It’s the worstt Sh1T3 thing I’ve ever bought and I’ve spent 2 years regretting it.
I’ve put up with it because I don’t have another £3k to buy something else.
This company should be ashamed. 😡

Please DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Foam footrest deflated with minimal use

Bought two leather recliners two years ago. purchased the additional warranty. With VERY limited use, the footrest foam totally deflated. Foam its not covered on their 10 year warranty. Knowing how rarely these recliners were used - will NEVER purchase anything from LazBoy again!

An noisy uncomfortable sitting chair

I bought this Joshua rocker recliner on August 1st at Rooms to Go. The longer I sit in it the less comfortable it is for me. I know that after this much time there is little or nothing I can do at this point, but I am writing this to let you know what doesn't work on the La-Z-Boy chairs.

* The foam cushion in the seat wears my butt out after a short period of time. It makes my back ache.

* It is very noisy in its operation up and down, and has too many settings clicking in and out.

* I do not like that the back tilts back so easily with no way to control it.

* The worst part about the chair is that it does not drop and go back, it raises me up when it goes back making me feel like I am on a gurney or a slab. It is not at all comfortable when laid all the way back.
And the foot lock keeping me trapped in the chair until I use the handle to get down.

* I really miss my old chair that I could make go up and down simply by using my arms or legs.

* They have made this chair way too complicated and in doing so sacrificed the comfort.

I realize that I am stuck with this chair, and I will make the most of the situation. I put a quilted pad on the seat to make it sit better. I just wanted to let you know that This produce is not comfortable as it should be for the great amount of money I paid to get it.

Purchased 2 recliners in February 2023…

Purchased 2 recliners in February 2023 and both recliners were a waste of too much money. The electric recliners continually stop working and we have to unplug everything and replug to get them going again. They are extremely noisy when moving in them or reclining them. The seats and the back cushions have already lost their firmness. Worst furniture I have ever purchased. By looking at all the low ratings and complaints I would never buy from Lazyboy.

NEVER AGAIN

Purchased a whole new living room suit with couch, Xtra large recliner and two regular recliners. Dowels broke on the Big Boy recliner and of course that is not covered. I am disgusted with how much money we just spent on Lazy boy furniture! Never again. I really thought with the name and the 10 year warranty it was worth it..........

LazyBoy Reluctant Buyer

We bought a Lazy Boy electric double recliner 3 seater from Tukwila store in Wa. back in early summer. The floor model we approved of was not the same couch we received. In two weeks it turned into a 30 year old couch. The bottom cushion on left side had weak cushioning, the back cushion also weak. I sink 4 inches and cannot have any back support unless I cram myself backwards as I sit so as to push my back into the cushion about 4 inches to get any support. The armrest is way to hi to use without getting shoulder discomfort.. We had Lazyboy replace bottom cushion once and it was good for 2-3 weeks before it collapsed like the original so now I sit on two pillows and still deal with lame back cushion and no armrest (too high). Saving up to hire a professional to rebuild/restuff the cushioning correctly. Serve yourself well- shop anywhere else but L.B. It's been a $3000.00 DISSAPOINTMENT. Our last couch, a Wayfair o/l purchase was way comfortable @ $800.00 and lasted years and always comfortable. Big Regrets, Wayne-o

Sitting on your lazy boy can cause your warranty to be void

A little over six months ago we spent over $5000 for a dual reclining leather sofa from La-Z-Boy. The finish on the leather is degrading per La-Z-Boy customer service. I was told it was our body oil that was damaging the leather. How do you sit on a sofa without your body touching it?! We did not follow the care of the leather we needed to wash the leather with distilled water, ivory soap work to in a lather and wiped off with a white cotton cloth note 3 times a week to avoid this damage. Who washes their sofa three times a week? I don’t wanna be a slave to a piece of furniture do you?

Lay Z Boy quality not!

Lay Z Boy quality? um no, not so much...
Within 1 year of owning our sofa the imitation leather delaminated to the point where it looks like it is 40 plus years old. This is in a household of two 50+ adults. After phoning the customer care line we were told we "should have bought the extended warranty"as if that would have stopped the delamination. The customer care representative was rude and told us we would have to pay to have someone come out and they wouldn't do anything even if they did. Therefore why buy Lay Z Boy? I really don't know, but never again. I wish I could upload the pictures.

Another solid Company sacrifices their values

La Z Boy Garbage

My Personal Experience with La-Z-Boy: A Lesson in Disappointment

Once upon a time, La-Z-Boy was a household name synonymous with high-quality furniture and unmatched comfort. My family, like many others, trusted the brand implicitly. When it came time to furnish my living room with a recliner, La-Z-Boy was my first and only choice. I expected the same reliability and quality my parents experienced decades ago when they purchased their La-Z-Boy furniture. Instead, what I got was an ongoing nightmare of poor craftsmanship, abysmal customer service, sluggish repair processes, and a company seemingly uninterested in accountability.

A Disastrous Product

The disappointment began almost immediately after purchasing a high-end recliner from La-Z-Boy. At first, the chair seemed fine—comfortable and stylish, as advertised. However, within a few months, it became clear that the quality was far below expectations. The cushions began sagging noticeably, and the reclining mechanism, which was supposed to be the hallmark feature, started making grinding and squeaking noises. The back felt loose and wobbly, as though it might break off at any moment. In fact, it did eventually break…

What shocked me the most was how quickly the recliner began making noises. Despite being marketed as durable, the springs made an awful noise and the recliner as a whole was just terribly noisy after just a few months of light use. Friends and family who visited my home even commented on how “used” the chair seemed, despite it being practically new. It was embarrassing and infuriating, especially given the premium price I had paid.

By the six-month mark, the recliner was no longer comfortable to use. The padding and springs in the seat and backrest had broken down so much that sitting for any length of time left me with a sore back. The structural integrity of the chair was so poor that I genuinely wondered if it would hold up another year. The chair leaned back so far, I would end up looking at the ceiling, La-Z-Boy amazingly assured me this was normal not realizing I purchased the exact same chair 5 years prior. When comparing them side by side, the defect was obvious.

Terrible Customer Service

When I first noticed the issues, I reached out to La-Z-Boy customer service, hoping to resolve the problems quickly. What followed was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. After waiting on hold for over an hour, I was finally connected to a representative who seemed completely uninterested in helping me. Their responses were curt, dismissive, and, frankly, condescending.

I explained the issues with the recliner, including the sagging cushions, noisy mechanism, and unusual orientation. The representative assured me that they would “file a claim” and that someone would get back to me. Weeks passed, and I heard nothing. I called back, only to be told that my case was still “under review.” After repeated follow-ups, they finally agreed to send a technician to assess the chair.

Sluggish and Unreliable Service Technicians

When the technician visit was scheduled, I thought I was finally making progress. Unfortunately, the service technician arrived over an hour late with no communication or apology. Once they inspected the chair, their conclusion was dismissive: “Normal wear and tear,” they said, despite the fact that the chair was only a year old.

They also informed me that parts needed to be ordered for the repair, which would take “a few weeks.” A few weeks turned into months, during which I repeatedly called to check on the status, only to be told that the parts were “on backorder.” When the parts finally arrived, the technician scheduled another visit—only to not show up. I had to reschedule yet again, costing me more time and frustration.

When the technician eventually did complete the repair, it was clear they were undertrained or simply uninterested in doing the job properly. The mechanism was still noisy, and the cushion replacement barely improved the sagging issue.

Warranty: An Empty Promise

Part of the reason I initially felt confident in my purchase was La-Z-Boy’s advertised warranty. However, the warranty process turned out to be a complete sham. Every issue I raised was met with resistance and excuses. “That’s not covered,” they said, or “That’s considered normal wear.” It felt as though they were doing everything possible to avoid honoring their commitments.

Even the few issues they did agree to address took an absurd amount of time to resolve. Replacement parts were delayed for months, and the overall lack of communication left me feeling abandoned as a customer.

Lack of Accountability and Poor Quality Control

We bought 3 recliners which included one for our father. The delivery men blocked the retirement home driveway and were threatening to us when we asked them to move the truck. Then when our two recliners were delivered there was no email or call they showed at up at 8am and my wife is in chemotherapy. Again just wanted to unload and leave. No masks and no Service. Go local - they appreciate your business more and can be held accountable instead of a call centre from nowhere. Very unhappy.

I spent over $5000 on a lazy boy…

I spent over $5000 on a lazy boy reclining love seat at thr Lazyboy in Centennial Colorado.95% of the fabric choices are special orders and that is where lazyboy really has a chance to screw their customer.
We ordered one in a green with gold flecks fabric. When it arrived and we were able to look at it in the light after it was unpacked and the delivery driver had left we saw that it was blue with cream colored flecks. This did not go with any of our other furniture.

We immediately called the lazy boy store. The sales person that answered had one question- did you refuse delivery? I said no we hadn’t seen it in the light by then. Her response was “too bad, you are now its proud owner!”
We were hoping to be able to exchange it for a leather version which would have been $1000 more(another lazyboy con is though a price tag may be on a leather sofa, chair, etc. that is not the price for it in leather, it is for the cheapest fabric.
The next day I spoke with the sales person we dealt with originally. She was going to call me back in a couple of hours after speaking with the “manager”. Two days later when I finally gave up and called her she said sorry he won’t agree to anything.

I filed a BBB complaint. 3 weeks later BBB said they were closing it since Lazyboy never replied

I would recommend to anyone considering lazy boy furniture to shop elsewhere, whoever you deal with other than them has to be more customer satisfaction oriented.
If you must shop at Lazyboy read the contract thoroughly. The terms and conditions for returns, exchanges and refunds are 180 degrees different than what their website lists.
