I'm sorry but LL Bean like so many other similar companies have an aura about themselves that their merchandise is some one of a kind. Everything is imported and really just a step above discount chai... See more

Horrible quality, horrible customer service
My parents bought a fleece for my son for Christmas at the Conway, NH store on 12/5/24. He's had it since Christmas day and it’s already falling apart. I brought it to the Salem, NH store in an attempt to return/exchange it because my son liked it and was upset he couldn't wear it anymore. My parents couldn't find the physical receipt so they gave me their credit card statement and the credit card they they made the purchase on to locate it that way. First, the store associate suggested I was lying about it being purchased on 12/5/24 because "it looks like he's had this for a long time." (Clearly that’s the issue because it’s been used for all of one month). Then they told me because I didn't have the receipt they had no way to do a return and I needed to call customer service to get the receipt. I did that but even with giving customer service the date of purchase; the store it was purchased at; the credit card number it was purchased on, etc., customer service could not locate the receipt. Customer service insists they have no record of the purchase despite that it was clearly charged to my parents’ credit card on 12/5. I wonder if they will maintain that position when they receive the charge back request/payment dispute from Discover? They tried to connect me to a manager but hung up on me TWICE in the process. So we were unable to successfully return this and I went elsewhere to replace it. From now on, we will shop exclusively at Patagonia and other companies that actually stand by their products. If you think about it, LLBean has no incentive to make a quality product now that they have such ridiculous return policies. My son has had better quality fleeces from Target for half the price.

Subpar items that only last a couple of weeks. I purchased a "shackut" for over $100.00, after 2 weeks it pilled up so bad I couldn't wear it anymore. So, I attempted to return it. I have tried several times to get a response for a return. No answers. This used to be a great company. Those days are gone. Corporate greed has taken over. I will never waste my money on this trash company again.
False Sale
Advertises 50% sale to lure customers and keep prices the same. Life long customer but was turned off with store practice of sale.
False advertisement about sales
False advertisement about 50%sale when prices are outrageously high at regular prices! Absolutely ridiculous. Never again
My First Visit…
It was my first exposure to the LL Bean store and brand since it opened in my area in Canada. I didn’t buy anything, but was shocked with the high prices, much higher than similar merchandise elsewhere and almost no after holiday sales or discounts. Regular T- shirts start at $40, regular casual clothing items at $80, simple plaid shirts/ light jackets,Walmart type quality, are $120-150! The only thing I liked was all the Yeti brand cups and lunch bags, a large selection not easy to find in other stores.
We've shopped with LL Bean for years…
We've shopped with LL Bean for years now. We have purchased several pairs of slippers for our boys. Well, we purchased a pair that should have lasted longer than a couple months only to return them and have LL Bean not allow us to exchange them. We're done with LL Bean. Horrible customer service for lifetime customers. ADDING TO REVIEW. I made a post on their Facebook page and a rep contacted me to DM them. I did and of course it was the same outcome. Horrible company.
Purchased slipper moccasin the top…
Purchased slipper moccasin the top started separating from sole within 5 months. Never wore slippers outside. Received a new pair and second pair same problem within short period of time. Quality is terrible!!! Lifetime customer GONE!!!
Have a sale now and then…
The men’s selection and the prices could be better but the quality is there.
Misleading color name LL Bean
Normally I like LL Bean products but the last item l bought was a tee shirt that was billed as "dark cranberry". It was not dark cranberry, it was not any kind of cranberry. It was a medium pinky red. Sometimes you see two shots of something called by the same name but one is lighter, one is darker. Obviously it's the photography or lighting that makes the difference. That, in my opinion is what makes the color name important, and in this case, the name is misleading. In my experience, it's almost always the lighter shade that is the true color of the garment.
Poor Quality
What went wrong? What went Right? Nothing went right. This company used to have decent well made clothing, Now it is relying on its past to sell shoddy clothing and uses names and branding to sell garbage at elevated prices. Stick to companies like Columbia, Eddie Bauer, HH and others that care about their products. This year I got a Mountain Jacket/coat that sure couldn't be used in any mountainous terrain I have evr seen.
Terrible
Terrible! Had an order to send online. Offer was sign up for email and receive discount on order. Never received the discount code! Customer service chat refused to fix it. Wanted me to do the work all over again. Waste of time and ticked me off! They lost the business. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM W THIS TYPE OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT
I placed an order on 12/10/2024
I placed an order on 12/10/2024. I just called to see why it hasn’t shipped. I was told it should ship soon. When I ordered, I was told it would arrive on 12/13/2024. It is 12/18/2024. So much for it arriving for our Christmas on 12/21/2024.
LL Bean no longer honors its warrantees
LL Bean no longer honors its warrantees. Leon would be sad. Boots came apart and was told that they couldn't stand behind them.
Shame.
I was just searching for True Shape…
I was just searching for True Shape jeans - in BROWN!
They have the weirdest colors - Kelp Green - Seafoam something - Tan, that looks like buttercup yellow! All I want is my favorite jeans - made in BROWN!
Can someone tell me why LL Bean has an aversion to the color Brown in women’s apparel? Don’t they know they could make a zillion dollars more!
Everything is great, but.....
Placing an order is easy. The products were delivered on time in good condition. I have no issues with customer service or the website.
My issue is the flannel shirt I ordered. It's beautiful and very soft, but I'm somewhat disappointed because the plaids don't match up from the back to the front. You shouldn't be able to tell that there is a seam there. The plaid on the sleeves don't match up to the plaid on the front of the shirt. I'm not going to return it because it's so wonderfully soft and the plaid colors are beautiful. Just wish the plaids matched up. Normally, LL Bean pays attention to the details. I'll still shop LL bean. Match up the plaids please.
Don't bother, you'll be waiting
Ordered slipper 2nd December. 7 days was the estimate. December 12th and the order isn't even processed yet, but they've taken my money. The website claimed it would be taken on dispatch, so another disappointment
my god what a turn around
my god what a turn around, co used to be my go to, then i exchanged a parka - and got a very low quality product in return. then just recently my wife thought she was doing a good thing and bought me 6 dress shirts -- now get this - i am being accurate without flourish - all of them had worn areas around neck, not as if they had been used but as if the material had been rubbed off, then the kicker --- 3 of them on the sleeves actually zippered at the crease - from above cuff to shoulder they opened up as though someone had taken shears to them -- am i going to return -- hell no, not after my last encounter with there customer service --- no one from this house will buy from ll bean again and i can assure you i saved the shirts for show and tell -- there was a time when i would have defended this company - now i just shake my head in disgust
LL Bean credit card is a joke
My mother recently called to cancel my father’s LL Bean credit card, as he recently passed away. Not only did they cancel his, card, but they canceled my mother’s as well without her knowledge. When I called to try to straighten it out, I was given three different phone numbers, and all three calls resulted in no resolution. When we applied for a new card, they took us through the process only to be told that my mother’s application was denied, despite being a card holder for decades, without a single late payment. Additionally, all her “Bean Bucks”, over $500 worth, disappeared 24 hours ago when they cancelled the card, and cannot be retrieved, we were told. LL Bean was once a reputable company, but it seems that those days are over.
I asked for an exchange and got billed instead!
I ordered a warm up jacket about November 6th. However, when the jacket arrived, it wasn't true to size. I called customer service, provided my order number and said I wanted to return for an exchange. The customer service rep said he'd note it on the order and explained how to make the exchange which was sent UPS. I marked the return receipt "exchange" box and indicated the size I wanted. I also hand wrote the same thing on the receipt so there would be no confusion. After not receiving a replacement jacket, I called customer service again. I found out that the jacket was received, but no exchange! Worse, they charged me $6.50! In either case, I was never notified. The customer service rep seemed a bit put out with me over their mistake but agreed to refund the $6.50 charge. Then, while I had to wait until the credit was issued, they wanted me to order another jacket! That means I'd still be out a jacket and they'd have my money for both jackets. Nope! Someone either doesn't understand the difference between "exchange" and "return" (or how to do it), or they can't read (as an aside, I did print the instructions in case they couldn't read cursive). Very poor service all the way around. I need to go elsewhere and spend my money.
Rude and Incompetent Customer Service
Placed an order for a backpack, which was supposedly in stock, but after I submitted the order, the status was changed to backordered. Called customer service (rep's name was Susan), who was extremely rude and practically shouting at me over the phone. Said she's been there 16 years but still couldn't give me a straight answer regarding the order status, and was talking to me like I was the dumb one. If you ever order from their website and need to talk to customer service, just know that you will be shouted at, interrupted constantly, and talked down to for something that is their mistake. I have never encountered such incompetent, arrogant, impatient, and rude customer service anywhere in my entire life. However, one thing is for sure: I'll never shop with them again after such a miserable experience.
