I'm sorry but LL Bean like so many other similar companies have an aura about themselves that their merchandise is some one of a kind. Everything is imported and really just a step above discount chai... See more

At 6 sharp they dumped the call.

I traveled to Maine from Virginia with my family for a week long vacation. I looked forward to sharing this awesome experience of visiting LL Bean with my grown children. While in women’s clothes the petite section my daughter in law was looking at clothes and the sales lady approached her and said we have those same styles in women’s without any questions asked. Then the same daughter in law and my son who is biracial and myself were constantly followed through the store and anytime we stopped she was like can I help you and watching. I would have chalked it up to over zealous but my other children who were not biracial and shopping in same store could barely find someone to help them. Needless to say never again I’m just shocked at the treatment.
VERY DISAPPOINTED…
I used to order LL Bean clothes for my husband and the quality was great! I have not ordered any clothes for a while but decided to order some women's T-shirts. LL Bean has cheapened their quality and clothes. I paid top dollar and the T-shirts I bought have holes in them already!! I have bought T-shirts from Wal-Mart that have lasted much longer. Very disappointed and will never buy any clothes from LL Bean again!
Very poor service
Have been a long time customer but no more. Their courier service now takes three times longer to deliver and it only delivers to residential premises - ridiculous considering the amount of theft these days. But wait you say, make sure it’s signature required - no, LLBean don’t allow that.
Long-time customer, good experiences!
I've been an L.L.Bean customer for years, and for the most part, my experience has been positive. The clothing is usually good quality, and some items I've been wearing for over ten years, and they are still in good condition. I decided to get their credit card, to avoid shipping charges and to get free returns. I've never had a problem returning anything. I recently returned a knit cotton top because the fabric seemed less substantial than in the past, and as it was white, it was more see-through than I liked. Otherwise, I would have given them 5 stars.

Resoled by Bean boots from like 30 years ago for just $40, with new insoles, looks great, thanks!
Slim Fit is gone
I used to find shirts for my slim build at L.L.Bean, but not anymore. The slightly fitted style is too baggy. They used to have dress shirts and casual shirts with collars that fit me perfectly. It's sadly ironic for a store that markets active lifestyles and fitness to not have a slim fitted shirt section.
LL Bean isn't just for clothes!
I had two bulky vari kennels inside and wanted a Ruffland large crate as it is one piece and a more streamlined footprint. Every local store charged a shipping fee which was well over $60.00. LL Bean offered free shipping so I made thr purchase. The crate arrived so fast and in fabulous shape . . . have to admit I was worried. I am very impressed by the speed and condition it arrived in. I will be ordering another soon!
Unusual Honesty at a Challenging Time
This week during the great CrowdStrike IT outage, we visited the LL Bean in Charlottesville, VA and bought a swimsuit for my daughter. The price was $79 + tax, and we filled out a paper form with credit card information, on the understanding that it would be processed later. When the transaction was processed the next day, the price charged was $59.99 + tax -- apparently the item was on sale, like some of the other swimsuits we had seen (but my daughter didn't like the design of those as much). Kudos to LL Bean for giving us the discount when we had already agreed to pay a higher price!

Every time I want clothes either they don't have the color or the size online or in store!! Time to move on and buy my clothes elsewhere. I love the brand but tired of lack of supply and you can never get any answers!!! Very frustrating!!!
Strategically Cheapening Products
They cheapened what was once a great product, the Unshrinkable Tee. Thinner, courser fabric which doesn't feel or look the same. Wrinkles easier and the collars begin to curl and wave right after putting it on. Out of curiosity, if they cheapened this long-time favorite product without disclosing it to their customers, what prevents them from doing it to the rest of their catalog? We know the answer, just wanted to post it.
My experience with Jordan the L.L.Bean Guide
I asked my customer service representative Jordan for a specific camp chair and she took me right to it and she got me a 20% discount and was very focused on giving me an excellent customer service experience.

I purchsed 2 dog beds which came out to like $900. They arrived damaged and the customer service was absolutely pointless and terrible. They tried to make me go out of my way for something that was not my fault to begin with. I will not be ordering anything from them in the future.
I'd also give zero if i could
I'd also give zero if i could. The tags inside are sewn right in so tight you rip the material getting them off. Obviously they're darn proud of their name. Impossible to deal with on the phone too. Designer price, bargain basement quality. Never again will I buy L.L. Bean. Live and learn. They're as cheap as dirt in their customer service department. And they do NOT pay for return shipping, we do. It comes right off your refund. And it's NOT CHEAP. So 😠 😡 😤 😣 😾 🤬 😠 😡
I would give no stars if I could
I would give no stars if I could. I purchased the trail model hikers when I was in the store in Maine in September 2023. They are falling apart at the heal. I live in Australia and just tried to get a replacement pair (after sending them info and photos), they refused. Saying, I must first, at my cost, send them back to Maine (USA) where they would be evaluated, leaving me with no shoes. I grew up in Maine and remember amazing customer service, but this is ridiculous on many levels. The cost, personally and for the environment, of shipping a pair of damaged shoes is outlandish. I provided proof in the photos, a copy of my receipt, etc. I purchased thousand of dollars of clothing, shoes and other goods over the years but LLBean has lost a customer now. I can recommend Land's End, they sent me a defective polar fleece, I contacted them and they sent me a new one!
Trickery
I was going to place an order for LL Bean pajamas. An offer popped up offering a 25% discount with placing an order with the current visit if I was instantly approved. I applied because I had done business with them before and at one time had an account with them that I eventually let expire. Within five to ten minutes I was approved for a line of credit of over $8,000. When I talked to the card company they told me it would take up to two weeks to get a number. When I told them the offer would be expired they told me that my approval wasn’t instant. I had to call them to get my approval and the amount of my line of credit. Less than 10 minutes had passed and I thought that was instant to me and I was still on the website to place the order. I guess I am dumb because everything the old LL Bean offered was always in good faith. This was no more than trickery. I immediately told them to cancel the card. I emailed LL Bean because they were closed. I got a response that I would get a response to look into things when they reopened. I never heard back from the email. They have gone the way of everything else now. They are no longer a reputable company and outsource most everything but their boots. Most from China. How sad.
LL Bean stretch pants
I purchased several pairs of the mens elastic fit pants. The belt loop on the back of 5 of my 5 pairs of pants has broken. Actually the material where the belt loop attaches ripped. I had to sow the belt loop back on so I could wear the pants. My wife bought me a pair of wranglers at a third of the LL Bean price. I have worn them for over a year now and the belt loops have not broken. I noticed that the wranglers gag 2 extra belt loops on the front which takes some of the tension off of the back belt loops. There must be a material defect in the LL Bean pants if the the same belt loop on each of the LL Bean pants has broken.
Ordered mens slippers, not wide like they were supposed to be
Ordered mens slippers. Followed their own recommendation based on the Skechers shoes I wear, to order size 11 wide.
When they came they were not wide at all, my little toe sticks right into the side of the slipper.
I had a previous pair that the little toe eventually poked through, ruining the slippers so I ordered wide this time.
Anyway, they were the same width as the other ones and I thought well, maybe the next size up would be better.
No, in fact, they were equally narrow. I looked closer and they were not wides but mediums.
Called up and yes they will forego the $6.50 charge THIS time, but the original $6.50 I was already charged, on the first non-fitting pair based on THEIR size recommendation.
In short, they need to get with the times, and provide free exchanges or at least a cheaper replacement.
Why not sell on Amazon and let at least Prime members get free replacements?
Anyway I will never order from LL Bean again. The fact they do not provide a truly WIDE size in mens slippers size 12 , and the 11 is NOT really an 11, is ridiculous.
Buh-bye, LL Bean!
Good quality products
Good quality products, easy returns. I've used LLBean products for many years and have found them to be good quality. They're a bit more expensive than others, but the clothing holds up over time.
LL BEAN pooper
The truth not what went wrong. Honesty, LL Bean is the same as Wal-Mart now. They once were something special but now it's the same product same warranty, harder to deal with than Wal-Mart. If you don't live close it's all mail order at bean. Wal-Mart has a better likelihood of being local or less postage. Walmart also has mail order. Same same. The embroidered logo is not important to performance, same stuff at Wal-Mart, marginal quality. The good stuff is elsewhere. I used to live there and hate being a pooper. It's fun and cool to go but like the other fish/hunt place, it won't allow me to spell it. Oh and I'm not a walmart advocate by any means.
