Avoid uk.lycoschat.com at all costs

Avoid uk.lycoschat.com at all costs. Draconian moderators who ban and delete at their whim just because they don't like you, yet when you make complaints about other chatters stalking and causing trouble etc, they take no action whatsoever, no matter what proof you provide them.

You might go to this camping site

Lycos remains a subject because of its poor service and one of the recent challenges is its lack of support of HTTPS. It is as far as I know not possible to get in touch with Lycos to make a situation of this kind become better. It is just going on and you imagine some real curly hair discussing technical matters but probably taking not too much notion of specific technical problems. Is a problem really a problem , or is it a nice distraction? You might take Lycos, but just like going to a camping site with a lot of criminals. I wouldn't say the Lycos workforce contains a lot of criminals but through the problem with HTTPS it becomes relatively easy to use things for your own profit as a person from outside the company. It might turn into a messy place. If you don't want this to happen you have to be cautious. Just like hanging around on a rough camping site, that is just about the best comparison.

Lycos chat is a dying site

Lycos chat is a dying site. Navigators are pathetic minded morons who seem to think they can do what they want. Accounts are deleted without warning or explanation and when it is pointed out some navigators are undercover and monitor covertly they delete the account that points this out. Why would anyone join this antiquated pile of crap these days?

Good, Until It Isn't

I have used Lycos email ever since MailCity was purchased decades ago. It works fine, until it doesn't. There have been two recent complete shutdowns - no clue as to why since they won't respond to my support ticket. Speaking of that, I am also having another issue for which I opened a ticket eight months ago. I have never received a response after all this time, even after following up three times. If it wasn't for this complete lack of customer support, I would be completely satisfied with Lycos mail. Enter at your own risk.

I have been a so called "valued member"…

I have been a so called "valued member" (they're words not mine) of Lycos mail for years...then they arbitrarily decide that it's pay or no play, so like a fool I stuck with them, and have auto-payed annually five years in a row. I was an account holder long before that... This year I get an email stating that there has been a problem with the billing and I should contact my bank "immediately" so I did, the supervisor at the bank told me the charge was being declined by Master Card on the basis of it being recognized as a cash charge, and had triggered a "fraud" rule, I don't know whether this is a SNAFU on the part of M C or Lycos...And now that my email has been disabled, soon to be no more... I Wish I could be more constructive about this whole sorry affair but to add insult to injury, after having used the only means by which Lycos makes contact possible, the internet. On three separate occasions I received an apparent automated response to each attempt, stating that someone would be in touch, usually within 24-48 hrs. No one ever did...I even tried to use they're alternate means of payment which I already knew from previous experience with other merchants, would not be successful. I have tried everything...Even offering an old world fix by paying with a USPS money order... This is definitely NOT how to run a successful business...The only reason I gave one star was it is apparently mandatory to write a review...Lycos deserves none. I feel terribly let down, I genuinely liked they're email services, on the other hand they're customer service department seems to be at best nonexistent...

As much as Lycos Mail is piled on

As much as Lycos Mail is piled on, it really is a good email platform, if you ignore the lack of a viable spam filtering feature. The interface is intuitive, readable, customizable and lacks the constant tinkering that other mail providers THINK will make users' email experience more rewarding (they don't.) Love the sorting feature. You can also direct email into specific folders based on specific criteria. What's not to love?

Lycos gave users ample time to transition to a subscription ($9.95 PER YEAR, COME ON!!!) before discontinuing old free accounts. No one is to blame except the willfully stupid.

I've used Lycos almost since college in the 90's. Still have my original account.

Really awful customer service

I have contacted Lycos helpdesk on April 11 after more than 3 weeks I have receive no support whatever from Lycos team. On April, 16 I was contacted by an agent Michael claiming that he would look at my issue with lycos account. However, this was pointless because no action whatever has been taken an the issue is still not solved. A truly terrible service!

Navigators Game

This now has happened twice from a chatter called Bad_Hairday also called Red_Squirell in that they like to play this game of emotions, she or he caught me out the first time and it was only a matter of time before she would come back for another bite of the apple and she didn't let me down. I had to let the he/she believe that I was gullible and I did it well the way it transpired as she thought he/she had got me real good.
Instead of having one chief there is now three and it's really no better as whatever icons they put up to improve the system it's poor management that run it. You don't get your monies worth and the Diamond is a waste of money and I personally can't find one good review on Lycos Chat..Other navigators are telling me they had enough and its not long to go before it burns itself out for good. Lack of communication is the main reason amongst chatters and navigators, well let's say the whole rotten system.
Emotionally and mentally these excuses called navigators run it like you do as we say or you become what we turn you into and that's basically an abused online chatter. See I was hoping to meet Bad_Hairday for a face to face, but he/she isn't what she or he makes themselves out to be..lol, infact they thought they were pretty clever when infact it was being played at there own game. NO I refuse to buy you a Diamond so you can get in PORT after all your still a navigator as I can see that you can still get into the Navigators Office so that proves they lied telling me they had been kicked out.
Photos that were sent like you came from the Internet as you are clever to do that and I matched you on it, but truly I can't see why you still want to keep this going as I'm bored with it and you keep going back and fourth over the same ground, so maybe your not as clever as you think you are.
I've deactivated from Lycos now and truthfully I don't want to come back, I think anything that has a rating of navigator 3 and upwards really needs to see a Councillor and get therapy Bad..

Toodles...

Avoid these at all costs. I registered my URL with them for two years. After one year they transferred ownership to another company. I wasn't informed. Had an email account with lycos since 1987 or so. No problems, no spam. work perfectly like a dream. Only once did I need to contact support and they were responsive. Only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is that it moved from a totally free service to a paid service over depending on storage limits. Rates are very reasonable.

Very Awful Company - terrible spam

Update: If you complain about them they will quadruple the amount of spam you get. Absolute fools. Possibly THEY are the spam farm.

Been with these people for a long time. After bought by Indian company the service became useless. Every day my mailbox is 99% spam. I have complained and they offer ridiculous "solutions". Their spam filters do not work. I don't think they have any spam filters. Avoid this useless company.

Lost all my html coding from my website.

Weeks of work lost when they did their update.

Coding and images all lost.

You can "open a ticket" and converse with a complete fool who had no answers and knows nothing and then basically have to slowly come to terms with the fact they've lost all your hard work and there is nothing they can do cos they are technically inept and have clue what they are doing.

Wesley Soza is utterly incompetent and talks absolute rubbish, if it wasnt so incredibly frustrating it would be laughable the contradictions he comes out with. "Customer service" ? It's a joke.

Use their service at your own risk.

Worst. Service. EVER!!!

Non-existent customer service

I have been trying to contact Lycos for over a month now, used the ticket system - no response, emailed their info@ address several times - no response; emailed their marketing@ address - no response. Given that I pay for this service (and only because I've been a customer for 25 years or so), this is rubbish customer service. Since starting to pay for the email access, I get more spam emails and more of the standard emails get put into spam. Awful.

Had Lycos since 1998. TBH they've been useless from day 1. I delete 90 to 150 spam phishing emails a day. My setting are on high. I tested on low and it was no different to high setting.
Always problems. Unbelievable.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER USING LYCOS.. USELESS. INNEFICIENT. INCOMPETENT.

I've had my domain register with them for 22yrs now. Two years ago, my desktop mail stopped getting my domain emails. All my other devices could send and receive email for this domain. Now I can't access my email on any device or web mail. Says my PW is wrong, which it's not. So I change it and that one won't work either. No way of talking to anyone either. I sent a ticket in but no response on alternate email account
