Fraud! Keep away from them!

They tried to charge me for 1500 euros during the drop off of the car for scratches that were already there when i recieved the car but luckiely i had photos of the day i recieved it, and as they didnt succeed that time, they charged me three months later for a traffic violation i never commited. They didnt even mention which violation i commited and what is the amount of it!
So keep away from them. They are imposters!

A very bad experience

I booked for a SUV automatic at Naples airport with the extra insurance coverage of Zero franchise. I made a mistake on the date. So called the Hotline but could not find a SUV for the same day so I accepted to take a smaller car Manuel one. On reaching the rental office they could give me a suv automatic if I pay 165€ more while I have already paid for it. So I had to wait till 13:00 hrs to have my car.smaller Manuel car.
And to my surprise I got a car damaged everywhere à Trush bin you can call it.
And I had to take the franchise zero insurance for that lol.
A very bad experience.
And literally I was hacked by Maggiore rental.

They could have given me the suv automatic which they had. Or atleast remove the franchise zero for having provided me the car full damaged.
Pity I cannot upload images here of the car I got.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We hired a car from them for a week in Italy. We collected & returned the vehicle from Naples airport. On returning the car the 'Returns Inspector' accused us of causing a large scratch on the (almost underneath) of the front bumper. We showed him the paperwork we were given that logged the scratch was already there when we picked the car up (along with another scratch on the front bumper that was highlighted) but he told us that was referring to a different scratch! When we asked him to point out which 'other scratch' it was referring to he couldn't because the only scrapes on the bumper were the ones highlighted when we collected the car. He tried to get us to sign a form to take responsibility for the damage - we obviously refused as we hadn't done it, but as they have all your credit card details it's pointless as they automatically charge the damage fees to your card. He showed us a screen detailing we would be charged €240 for the damage. When we arrived home we had an email saying that charge was an estimate so I assume they will charge as much as they want to so it may be more!

Since reading other reviews it would appear that they scam people who have taken out their own full insurance cover to pay for existing damage to cars. The guy told me he didn't know what I was cross about as I was fully insured. It's infuriating but unfortunately it seems to be common practice with this company. It's the first and last time we will ever youse Maggiore to hire a car.

Invented charges debited from my card without warning

Returned car to their unattended booth within time but my credit card charged for late return without any notice or warning (just found the charge on my CC statement). Complaints with timed photos proving drop off time were responded to with untrue inventions about speeding fines, which didn't exist. Eventually had to do a chargeback with my CC company, which Maggiore didn't respond to.

Charged me €210 for a tiny 5cm scratch…

Charged me €210 for a tiny 5cm scratch to the under-carriage of the car. This was in Lamezia Terme Airport. Because the scratch was so small, I can't even say if it was there when I picked it up. Also, no way to challenge the amount. It just came off my credit card. I wish I could include a photo here to show how small the damage was. Take photos of every inch of the car before hiring or expect a big bill. Better still - NEVER use them.

Claimed we did damage to the car

Claimed we did damage to the car, luckily we had proof that the damage was there already. But then they claimed we did small damage to the tires and that we could not proof so we had to pay for it. I cannot recommend this car rental comapny at all.

Beware fuel scam tactics

The company tries to charge extras when you return car. For example, fuel when fuel was refilled <2km from airport. They claimed it was a mistake but I get the impression this is a common occurance. Avoid these crooks and fo for a reputable rental company.

Absolutely dire customer service

We hired a car from them in early August, and it developed a puncture less than half way through the rental. From this point onwards (almost 2 months ago) there has been no customer service - no replacement hire car, no refund of unused car rental, no bill for the cost of the new tyre (so we can make an insurance claim), no refund of additional transport costs, no acknowledgement that they have ruined our annual holiday.

I hired the car from Rome airport very…

I hired the car from Rome airport very late at night and the garage was very badly lit and so could not check the car properly. Upon returning the car they immediately said that there was a chip on the windscreen. This could not really be seen but the attendant said that he knew what he was looking for and his trained eye spotted it. Cost of repair almost euro 300. I do not expect this to be repaired but no doubt charge the next person who rents it.

If you do not have an alternative, my advise is to video the car thoroughly before taking it out of the garage and using that as evidence when returning it.

Also if you can afford it do get full insurance protection.

Bad and frastrating experience in any…

Bad and frastrating experience in any way.
A frequent traveler, so I have a comparison point of view.
First - the service was one big mess. hours of waiting.
Second - we were given a malfunctioned car that broke, the response was not satisfying and we had to take a taxi on our expense to get back to Venice AP (250KM) and take a replacement.
The worse: we were charged on a significant amount without reason and without any notice. They did it because they can and may also and probably will do it to you too. be careful!!!

Very poor service

We booked two automatic cars but when we got to the car company, they told us they gave us manual cars cause they don't have any automatic ones (they did give us better cars than the one we booked though).
The information they gave us in the office were wrong (for instance they told us our car should be filled with petrol even though it was diesel.)
They guy who we returned the car to in Napoli was very very rude, he was screaming at us and being very unpleasant in general.
Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

If you don’t take full protection from…

If you don’t take full protection from the company, they can find a small scratch after returning the car, repair cost is greater than 400 euros.
We rented car 2 times during our vacation.

The service was bad.

ABSOLUTELY AVOID Maggiore

ABSOLUTELY AVOID Maggiore, they invent damages that are not highlighted in the initial agreement, they charge you over 350 Euros for scratches that are already there. No way to get your money back they are THIEFS, and I am surprised that are still open and free to operate damaging people without any problem .

Money thief

Money thief! They give you the car with dust and when you give it back they find in 1 min 2 very very fine scrathches on the car that cost 300€ euro( wthich is the guarantee they charge you when you take the car that appear nowhere when you book the car and pay per day)- that scarthches where there for sure

Maggiore car rental Naples - do not use

Do not use this rental: downgraded my car from an SUV. No similar cars available, no cost reduction. Tried to charge me for existing damage and when I challenged this and showed photos the member of staff acted like a victim. Then proceeded to produce a report with the existing damage listed. Happily charge me an extra day rental as I was 1.5 hours late, the car was not clean and had the previous rental details and ID card in the car that I returned, then proceeded to tell me to go away when I complained and acted like I had been rude, despite just pointing out the facts.

Positive -
Ive booked a small car with low price - 270€ for 7 days and got new Jeep Renegade which i didnt expect and deposit was also reasonable - 307€ that you can pay with credit card, but also with debit card. Staff was very helpful and friendly at the Catania airport.

Negative -
I give them 4 stars and not 5, because they just dont respond any emails, so you have no info until you call them.
Also they give different informations every time. When i dropped the car and asked when deposit will be released the man said 5 days, then ive called them - they said 10 days. After i check their website it says 7-14 days, so not exactly clear info.
Also when you drop the car, they will say its all good, zero damage, but you get no written confirmation or anything to proof youll get your deposit back, so you just have to hope itll arrive full and they wont charge you for anything extra...
