We attended a property they were…

We attended a property they were working on in Norwich to collect and dispose of hazardous materials. Despite months of requests they still have not paid the invoice. I would strongly advise any company to not work for them. Their accounts department are surly and unhelpful. We are now in the position of handing this account on to a debt collection agency. Thereby wasting more of our time and effort. All for an invoice of just £150. Very unprofessional company
Avoid working for them

I wish I didn’t have to give them a…

I wish I didn’t have to give them a star. They dodgy. They tell lies especially the staff inside the office. They cover up for each other. Very unprofessional.
They have no respect for the tenants home. They can get quite aggressive too. Majority of the time they look so miserable, makes you feel uncomfortable in your home. They know they can get away with it because there’s no one to complain to. I take the day off from work and they don’t bother to turn up to do the repair, had to call them to find out what’s happening then the office said no one is available for the job and they had over a week to inform you but no apology’s.
We definitely need them to go!! Bring some new people in.

Don’t even want to give one star

Don’t even want to give one star. Don’t know how to run a business, I have no idea how they get contracts for our boroughs, that’s where the wasted budgets go! They don’t contact you when a repair is reported. You have to contact them again, get an appointment after waiting a month, sit in all day waiting then they ring and cancel, not got enough electricians so why trade? Does not solve my not having electricity in my kitchen sockets, bad company as someone here stated “incompetent”

Incompetent

I am a tenant with a housing association who unfortunately use Mears. I have a leaky tap in my kitchen and reported it to my landlord. Had the initial "inspection" which confirmed that I did indeed need a new tap and one would have to be ordered. He was there 5 minutes (one day off work wasted).

Then I received a text to say they would be back on 28th Feb to fit the new tap, so I booked the day off.
Today I received a letter to state that they were coming on 27th?? Apparently they had tried to ring me (they hadn't) and changed the appointment because they couldn't get hold of me. Surely if you can't get hold of someone, you stick to the original plan until you do?

I tried to call to get the appointment changed back to 28th as I cannot change my day off at such short notice, spend 20 minutes waiting for someone to answer my phone before I gave up and messaged them on social media.

Just received a message back to say that they only do kitchen and bathroom repair and they can't help me. The tap is in my kitchen and the Mears guy was there last week to take the photo!

Going back to my landlord to complain.

If I performed with this amount of incompetence in my job, I wouldn't have a job any more.

My score is based on the men who did the actual graft

My score is based on the manners, attitude and work ethics of the 2 guys who attended to do the work. Why, when your office dwellers were told by your own experienced tradesman, it was a 2 man all day job, did you pull one to attend a "meeting" and initially send one, who then had to phone you to say it was a 2 man job? Your meeting wasted 3 hours of work time. I also feel that time served, skilled trades men should be referred to as such, not operatives. They were in my opinion, also not provided with adequate clothing/equipment to protect them from the weather, if open reach and councils can provide work tents surely you can? (Not functional for all jobs I know.) These poor men were soaked to the skin. Removing a botched back door and refitting is physical, but quite stationary work, so the cold gets your bones quicker. They say if you look after your tools properly, they'll serve you for years. The same could be said of your work force. Do you not check weather reports on the day?
If you don't listen to and respect the opinion of your own tradesmen, how on earth can you expect customers too?

Never even turned up

Never even turned up. Got a text message to say they were on the way, my sofa is next to the window and I can see the whole of our street no work van came on the road. Phoned up to see what was happening to be told they had been out and couldn't complete the job. When I explained that no one had been the lady on the phone tried to say that he may have got to our address and realised he hadn't got the parts, we've already been waiting over a month for the part, so why was this appointment even made if they don't have the part! Looks like to me they are trying to make it look like our fault they haven't completed the job on time. Rotherham council don't care.

Same as all the 91% ratings of one…

Same as all the 91% ratings of one star. Not going to list my complaint. I live in Dover kent, never seen anything like it, its abuse towards residents of council to submit them to such a company. Badly run is not the word for it, I suspect they are under staffed and not able to meet their contracts. Councils need to move on and take back their repairs plenty out there wanting work.

Honestly, why?

Honestly, I have no idea why South Cambs chose Mears to represent them. It's like telling everyone how little they care about their tenants or properties.
The work gets done (When they do turn up), but the level of quality, I think gets left back at the office. Off-cuts of wire, debris, dust and pure unadulterated untidiness, all of which you have to clean up yourself, tells just how little the company cares about you. Disabled people are no exception.
You get that attitude about them, like you're scum because you live in a council house and therefore that is the level of "give a s**t" you're gonna get.

Had new bathroom for the disabled…

Had new bathroom for the disabled fitted beginning of June this year. First the drain wasn't fitted properly and stunk to high heavens. The OT hadn't planned the bathroom properly, so it was wasn't safe to use.
Mears arrived Wednesday 20th October to refit. From then on it's been a nightmare.
Wrong shower tray was delivered. The workman has left us in a dirty mess. Never covered carpets, or anything. Used a small bedroom, we had shut the door to stop dust, he left it open so everything in there covered in dust. Stair carpet wasn't covered, and it's rained everyday, so it's filthy where he had been going up and down stairs. For two disabled, and retired, people to go without bathroom facilities for nine days is absolutely diabolical. We have nobody to come a clean all the mess. I will be contacting all of the disability groups I'm a member of. This cannot be allowed to happen to people with disabilities.

Updated: 5th November.
24th October leak from toilet, where the workman had taken it out to fix the drain, down through to the kitchen. Fixed 25th october.
Shower tray arrived 30th October, but no waste pipe. That didn't arrive till 3rd November and was fitted 4th November.
5th November shower leaking badly.
So, we went 18 days without shower facilities.

Just simply no good

Just simply no good. gas check was void when I moved in as it was for the previous tenants stuff...have been contacting them for nearly a year now to try and book it to no avail. They've just ignored it and now I've been sent letters threatening to take me to court.

How does a company hire humans then become to vile?
