Awful company
Awful company, avoid avoid avoid. We have completed a job for Mears and they are refusing payment. Have spoke to the accounts department and the customer service from them is the worst I have ever had, they are beyond unprofessional, and the person I spoke to put the phone down on me. The whole situation is a joke and the lack of professionalism makes the whole thing worst. Seriously, do not work with Mears, worst company ever.
Biggest Cowboys in MK
What a bunch of jokers.
Came into one of my flats to look at a toilet issue. They "fitted" a non-standard part which caused the whole flush mechanism to snap and rendered the toilet totally inoperable.
They then tried to fix their mistake. One Mears bloke came round, told the tenant he "had the part in his van", went out "to get it" and then drove off!!! Not only rubbish at their jobs, but lying cowards as well.
Mears had no right to even do anything in the first place because it's not a council flat. Cue me having to foot a much larger bill because of their negligence.
I wonder where Mears finds these clowns...?

Is mears another word for incompetent
Is mears another word for incompetent? My step daughter has been waiting for 7 weeks for her central heating and hot water to be sorted out and even though she is 8 months pregnant and has told them that. They don't seem at all bothered. ( pregnant or not you should have water and heating may I add) . Eventually they came out 4 days ago and managed to break a valve on the heating and yet again haven't returned since with a new part that could be sourced within an hour. MKCC really need to reconsider things the next time the maintenance contract goes up for tender. Maybe give it to a company that do have a clue what they are doing
Mears just turn not book the appointment with you they may turn up unannounced
I needed a repair to my door to my door and couldnr be sure who rung me on a private number to arranged i wasn't sure it was mears on a private number so i didn't answer, but then i got a knock on the door some time later and it the contractor but i had no text confirming the contractor was going to be in attendance and has far as i was concerned that could have been anyone and i noticed he didn't have a badge but then again i was answering from an upperfloor flat so i couldnt be sure but that even made things seem more suspicious i wasn't informed about by phone or text saying they were going to put a new door on my property i wasnt even informed by letter either so i simply told him i don't want the repair i feel like I've gave him the indication im going to be in for a certain time now when i wasn't sure but that wasn't the arrangement and nothing was im not sure what he was doing or whether it was genuine but its in the past now i would preferred to have been informed about a contractor coming out from mears, and when i was informed by letter and i waited in for my tap to be repaired at the specified time frame the contractor never turned up i am under the assumption basically the mears might have funding issues and short staffed i don't think I've been asked what time was convenient for me to let them in to my property to undertake the repair my neighbour had left the door unlocked downstairs and on one particular occasion the contractor came up the stairwell to the communual entrance and then said im here to do a repair at the otherside of the door so i replied by saying im not letting you in please leave and to be fair i didn't want to see his id because i wasn't expecting him any way i told him ill book an appointment myself he passed a form through my letter box which stated i need to ring mears and i havent im going through the council or im going to undertake the work myself and ask the council if need planning permission for certain jobs i trusted my instinct on these occasions and something didnt seem right about the entire situation i thought im going to take action into my own hands and ring though the council im not using the councils online tenant portal form because the council may not have even informed the contractor to come and undertake the repair to my property yet the contractor could be outside and not even informed the tenant so what are they doing here, recently i haven't received let alone as a letter or a text but a call on a private number that i wasn't informed id expect to receive but the contractor comes at anytime so i think something needs rectifying.
From start to finish terrible the girl…
From start to finish the experience with mears is terrible !! the girl on the phone was very rude and unhelpful she was not bothered at all about the customer and trying to help and sort the situation as she did not care at all . I do not know how they can employ people like this !! Then Mears cancelled a appointment with me at the last minute and I took a day of work for that repair work to be done , then another appointment was made for them to come and do the repair again so then my son took a day off work they knocked on the door once and left and said we didnt answer thats ridiculous, then another appointment was arranged I rang them to verify It as I got a txt to say they are coming the next day !!! and said they don't have that appointment on the system !! so we haveto wait another 3 wk after waiting a month for tap repairs , this is terrible I think they need to employ some good staff and be alot more organised instead of letting people down it's very unprofessional !!! Also you book time of work and mears let you down and its like its your fault it's disgusting , they need to rethink about the staff they employ as its a sham .
TOLD TO STARVE ONE YEAR OLD CHILD!
If no stars was an option I would have chose that, called Mears on Thursday about a sink issue, absolutely unhelpful said someone will come on the Friday so waited in all day and nobody turned up so gave them a call and they said that they were still coming and they would rush it up as I have a 1 year old and still nobody came. Called them Saturday and explained the situation then he said he would speak to a manager and then said they still wouldn’t come so I asked what am I supposed to do to wash up in order to feed my child and the man on the phone replied ‘starve him’ how unprofessional and rude!! I then said ok whatever bye and he must have thought I hung up and said to whoever was next to him that guy was a c**t.
Least to say they give 0 cares about your issues

Had mears doing our bathroom.very happy with the work Ben the plumber and john the painter were brilliant very professional and friendly as was the rest of the trades men can't complain at all
Job advertised no appreciation
So back from Australia moving to ealing greater london, applied to mears as a chance to gain some extra experience. Considering we have a shortage of plumbers in the U.K im shocked at after sending in my C.V i get a pretty instantaneous responce saying unsuccessful? Now Considering it took me 3 years to get my qualifications which i have a dipolma and overall mark is a merit. Im shocked at the professionalism of a company to be so quick at saying no... considering i just checked the reviews and uts clear they need staff with qualifications in there company. To spend 3 years training to be treated like that is outrageous. If a company can treat a qualified person like that i dont want to even thing about how they treat there costumers.
The Mears operative
The Mears operative, Paul who attended my property this afternoon, was fantastic. Very polite and professional. I have had some workers that will leave a mess, but not today. Thank you, we are very grateful to have our shower back.

If I could put zero stars I would mears are disgusting firm to work for try and shaft
you any. Chance they get lying all the time to staff and tenants especially tower hamlets branch bunch of tooth faced back stabbing people
I have only given this useless company…
I have only given this useless company 1 star as no stars or minus stars isn’t an option. I am not a customer of theirs but I am unfortunate enough to live in a flat below one of their properties. There has been a water leak from the above property into my flat for 2 weeks now and despite me constantly contacting them still nothing has been done. I chase them up every day only to be fobbed off with the usual excuses and platitudes then the weekend comes around again and am told it’s best to ring back Monday, unbelievable!!!
I have never dealt with such an inept and incompetent firm. Avoid them at all costs!
I can't find the words to describe the…
I can't find the words to describe the horror of this company. They are really scamming people. All the people are complaining about the poor condition of the building. The building is like a freezer in the winter. All the walls leak water in the winter due to high humidity, and the ceiling as well. In addition to mold throughout the entire apartment, the water is very weak and the windows are broken. There are cracks around it as well, and the company is violating the law. If you report maintenance for repair, they do not send official appointments. They just come and knock on the door randomly without warning in advance that they will come for repair. Unfortunately, we have suffered a lot. My young children and I left in January last year, and we are still suffering because of Poor housing condition.
Cowboys
They send out labours and don't tell them what the job is they are meant to do and sending out a electrician to do a plumbers job what a bunch of useless cowboys and thurrock council are hiring these cowboys to do a cowboy job only to get a professional to fix their mess.... Don't allow this company to do any work as you will regret it.....
AWFUL TO WORK FOR.
If you’re looking for work at Mears….. don’t. Everyone b*tching about each other behind backs. Constant moaning. Awful people to work with. You get the one good egg, but majority are people I wouldn’t dare cross paths with outside of work. Left after a month and a bit. Would rather have no job than work for that company.
Absolute charlatan organisation.
After cleaning my windows, approximately 20 minutes thereafter I had an almost heart attack moment when the pane of glass fell into the living room. Thank heavens it didn't fall outwardly as I live on the 2nd floor. I called my housing associations emergency repairs number and was greeted by someone who addressed themselves and asked what the issue was. After a few minutes I was told that an emergency repairs would be sent within 24 hours but hopefully that evening.
After about two and a half hours the employee arrived and asked what happened, I told I had cleaned my windows and that it had fallen out of its own accord and he proceeded to pick up the glass and place it back onto the frame as it was. I argued that it wouldn't be safe but he disagreed and carried on. I was shocked that this was happening and so told him I needed him to make that statement on video if it was true. He then became insulting, accusing me of taking the glass out and refusing to work if I recorded him. I continued filming and he said that he was leaving because of the filming.
He called his boss saying that he wouldn't be filmed and not responding to any of my questions. I'm almost glad that he didn't continue the work as this would be 100% unsafe and could have fallen out again.
I was then told that they had sent a carpenter out when talking to their customer services.
This was the Peterborough branch of Mears. Absolute cowboy worker and I wasn't impressed by the customer care either. They just don't care about their customers, only in getting paid for cheap and poor labour.
0/5
Day 2: After calling the social housing office to explain my situation and having an emergency window repair arranged I was told that someone would be around to resolve the issue today but any time up to 18:30. At 20:00 (the time I am editing this review) there is no sign of them and no courtesy call to explain.
I'm annoyed but in no way surprised.
-1/5
Day 9 - Still no sign of anyone coming to repair. It seems that I shall have to take this to the housing ombudsman. Despicable organisation.
-9/5
They are terrible
They are terrible, bullies refused to hand landlords their property back, refused to pay fair rent to the landlords. Lie about repairs. The condition of the property are terrible. Complaints don't get handed at all. Just a bunch of people lying to landlords and tenant.
ALL DAY FOR A BLOCKAGE!
This is absolutely pathetic. My drains and toilets were ALL blocked. I waited in all day for mears after ringing up at 1pm and getting told 4 hours. Rang up at 9PM after being told that ALL of the engineers are busy and that they would be out by 9pm. Still not been out the next day! Bathroom is flooded as my toilet pipes are blocked solid. My garden is also covered in sewerage. No wonder why reviews aren't responded to and you just keep on saying please be patient. It's not a hard job. Milton Keynes Council need to choose someone else to deal with things for them! Mears are absolutely awful. Better off getting your own people in.
