Most expensive trainers I have ever bought. Walked regularly through fields and dry mud trails from Spring to Autumn 2025 (UK). They have been very comfortable and supportive. Was thinking about buyin... See more

Why is Merrell committing suicide?
This cannot be the same company that was known for it's high quality footwear. I ordered a pair of Moab Speed runners. Within one year of MILD use, the mesh upper material started wearing through and tearing, the rubber on the side of soles started deteriorating, and the soles started to peel off. Is Merrell cheapening their products to boost short-term profit? If so, it is destroying their reputation and long-term market life. What scares me is that many companies seem to be taking this short-term self-destructive strategy. If they don't care about their future, do they know something we don't about the economy? Makes you wonder.
uppers disintegrating after a year light use
used for walking the dog probably 5 miles a week on pavement and grass. initially I thought they were great and thought ill always buy these from now on. but after a year of light use they have started disintegrating on the uppers. the top layer of the shoe just feels dry and is cracking and flaking off. I thought they were a good make and an alternative for propper hiking boots but sadly they don't seem to last.
LONG RETURNS AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
The worst customer service ever experienced. So, I ordered some hiking boots in my regular size, however, the size received was massive in comparison so obviously didn’t fit - so I decided to return.
At first the return procedure looked pretty easy, they arrange the courier and to just drop them off at a location they choose.
So I dropped them off and was surprised to see that despite being shown as a UK address, they were to be dispatched to the Netherlands - fair enough, might take a couple days extra, or so I thought.
I dropped the boots off at the given location on 5th October and was provided a tracking number with UPS - over a week or so UPS had picked them up but no further movement.
I began looking at their website and saw that a refund could take within 14 working days, so I gave them a bit more time.
By 19th October, still no movement on the tracking so I send them an email to the given email address on the website to ask if everything is on track.
24th October, no reply to my email and it is now working days with no refund received and no update on tracking.
26th October, still no reply from them and no update on tracking so I send another email and begin to message them on social media pages.
29th October, I message them through instagram and I actually get a reply - telling me to send an email to the same address I have three times already - great.
30th October, I finally actually get the option on there website for live chat - only to be in discussion with some arrogant, vile advisor by the name of Maria.
I explain the situation and express my displeasure at sending numerous emails and not receiving the courtesy of a reply - in which she says they do reply to emails and haven’t received anything from me so it is my issue not theirs. Well, my emails work just fine and I sent 3 to the exact address.
She replies with no manners, no apologies for the length of the return, and refuses to take any blame with the issues in contacting them.
It wasn’t until after the conversation I checked these reviews, low and behold - many more showing that they simply either do not reply to emails or are having issues with their emails that they are not addressing.
Anyhow, bad attitude aside, she informs me the boots had finally been picked up on 29th October, she has no reason for the delay and no apology and says she can’t do anything until received.
So I guess I’ll be waiting another 30 days to see if I even get a refund. I believe a bank back charge will be getting instructed.
Avoid at all costs ordering direct, if you’re set on their boots (I can’t speak for the quality but looking on here, not very good at all) then I would advise to buy from a dealer with good customer service.
Childish outburst from Managing Director
I could write a review about the appalling customer service of Merrell (specifically their online store in New Zealand), after I complained that no one had got back to me about my order, but sharing this email from their Managing Director is probably enough:

Shoes don’t last, no reply from customer service
I bought 2 pairs of black Moab kids shoes in April this year for my boys to wear as school shoes. For years i have bought these shoes as they are one of very few out there that are waterproof and black and comfortable so ideal school shoes. Within only a couple of weeks the black toes tip started to come off on both their shoes. I contacted Merrell to ask if they could repair them or send me new shoes but no answer, even after a 2nd email! I am disappointed with Merrell, I have bought Merrell’s for my kids for many years and this is the first time that we had issues. It is a quality issue and given how much the shoes cost one expects them to last more than a couple of weeks and also to get a reply from Merrell! Merrell no more for our family!
2 pairs both very poor
I've had 2 pairs of Merrell walking shoes. Both wore holes in the inside on the heels fairly quickly and both were supposed to be waterproof but weren't for very long. The latest pair are now falling to bits around the toe area after around 18 months.
Merrell Wrapt Mid Waterproof Walking Boots
Shoes are not waterproof. The toe seal is not connected. The right heel is incredibly painful due to what i hope is a manufacturing default rather than design. They are an awful shoe compounded by the inability of the customer service operator at the London office to even feign interest. I'm on a walking holiday in Scotland and I'm wearing my altra trainers. I'd rather have wet feet than persist with a shoe that I believe has been made in haste to capitalise on the barefoot shoe market. If you insist on buying merrell then buy direct or they shift responsibility onto the seller.
Soles peel off
I am sad to say the quality of the shoes is so much worse than years ago. Old pairs had lasted years and the latest ones fell apart after a few months wear. The sole came off in the wet.
No reply from customer service. I provided photos and order details.
I will not buy them again.
I tried out Merrill shoes and both pairs fell apart in no time
I tried out Merrill shoes. They were very comfortable so I bought a second pair right away. Thought they were great shoes until all I did was walk three houses down after it had rained and the pavement was wet. The soles fell right off. Same thing happened to the second pair. Nothing but cheap ass glue and instead of spending an extra quarter per shoe and making these things last they went cheap so I will never recommend them to anybody and I will never buy another pair. Don’t buy them.
Great looking, but impractical
I now own two pairs of Merrell trainer – the Nova 3 and the Agility Peak. They are comfortable and look great, but both are let down by the poor quality Vibram soles. While they look grippy, the soles become dangerously slippery on even the slightest of wet surfaces. Wet pavement, road, walking trails, stone, hard earth – I have found all of these to be equally slippery in these shoes. And this doesn't change with age/usage. If it wasn't for that, Merrell would be my go-to hiking and exercise shoe.
Superb resolution to warranty claim
Reading some of the negative reviews on here, I wonder if these unhappy people are referring to the same company. The experience I have recently had with Merrell concerning a warranty claim, could not have been more different. Excellent ongoing communication from the outset, with Merrell taking ownership of the fault and offering a speedy and acceptable resolution, has highlighted to me that big companies can, and do, resolve issues quickly and professionally. We'll done Merrell.
Not waterproof
Walking shoes are comfortable but definitely not waterproof. All breathable fabric on the upper lets water in. Socks are soaked.
Poor and lengthy returns process
I have had Merrell walking boots before and they have been OK to be fair, but ordered two pairs of shoes and they were a very weird fit so had to return.
The return process is just awful. Despite having a UK company address, returns are via UPS to The Netherlands. My return was sent on September 28th and not shown as received until October 14th.
I emailed a couple of times and received no response, which is particularly annoying to most people and just makes customers unnecessarily poorly disposed to the company. Basic stuff really.
My refund has yet to come, but is in the PayPal system so I assume it will turf up before too long.
I have unsubscribed from emails and will not order again. Merrell UK are shooting themselves in the foot for no good reason. Maybe new management is required in the UK, as other countries seem to be well thought of.
Not waterproof
My first experience with Merrell customer service was good. After I complained about my feet getting soaked wearing my MOAB 2 boots they replaced them with a pair of MOAB 3s. Unfortunately, they are just as bad and my feet are still soaked after wearing the boots for a short dog walk. My socks are soaked around the toes so it's not getting in through the uppers it must be where they join the sole. Very disappointed and won't buy Merrell again.
Terrible customer service
Ordered a pair of shoes but even though I've always had size 10.5 including other merrells these were too small. Sent the return back as per their instructions but after 2 weeks have received no money and no further communication. Contacted customer service who couldn't have been less interested or helpful. In fact the only time the adviser appeared even the slightest bit sorry was when told her I was going to write a review. Disgusting attitude and now I'm faced with having to go through legal channels to get my money back. I will never buy Merrell again
Excellent Customer Service
Previously purchased a pair of Moab 2 mid rise women's walking boots which developed a leak within a few months. Contacted Merrell to discuss my options. Customer service were extremely helpful and offered an upgraded replacement for free. These new boots were delivered free without any issues. Look forward to trouble free hiking in the future, reviewed as a member of 3GoExploring.
Crappy shoes at expensive prices
You used to make a solid product with great quality and workmanship.
Even though I'm on my feet quite a bit on my job, the shoes were always comfortable and lasted for quite some time (a year or more) even then I was just getting rid of them because the tread was completely worn smooth the body of the shoe would still be in decent shape.
I was introduced to Merrell Shoes about 20 years ago by a coworker, on his recommendation I bought a pair and was really happy with the fit and feel and the comfort even after being on my feet for 8 hours.
But now your shoes are overpriced RUBBISH !
I have purchased two pair in the last 3 months and I would have been better off if I just slipped my feet into two empty Kleenex boxes I probably would have got more wear out of them then your crappy shoes.
Not sure what the hell's going on with your company, but I can tell you one thing , the person that said they could save you 10 cents on each pair of shoes by using crap glue and poor quality pieces deserves a kick in the ass along with the person that went along with that idea. I can send you pictures of a pair of shoes that I've only had for 2 weeks and there does not seem to be any glue whatsoever trying to hold the sole of the shoe in place. The pair I had just before these the toe cap used to be made from a type of rubber now it is some type of crappy dryer lint material that has been painted black. At this point I guess I will just start buying junk sneakers from Walmart , at least a $20 a pair you don't mind so much when they start falling apart within a few weeks.
it's when I'm paying over $100 of pair for what I thought was a quality shoe to find out that it is junk and probably walking around with empty Kleenex boxes have a longer life.
PS if you would like to see the pictures just ask I would be happy to send them. But somehow I doubt anybody from your company would read my review let alone read this far down on the list.

Merrell Men's Moab 3 GTA , poor grip
Bought the Merrell Men's Moab 3 GTX Hiking Shoe in May 24 . Although the shoe is comfortable there grip on wet hard surfaces is really poor , feel it’s an accident waiting to happen . Merrell customer services weren’t interested just a generic reply .
If I could give less than 1 I would
If I could give less than 1 I would.
I also wish I could post pictures of the state my new Merrell shoes after just a couple of weeks.
Not the company they once were.
4 months and they're in pieces!!!
I brought some pair of womens walking shoes in May, 4 months later they are falling to pieces. Absolutely terrible. They were waterproof for about 6weeks and then started leaking. I'm gutted as I spent my savings on these shoes, and have no money to buy a new pair and the sole is literally falling off. Don't waste your money!!!
