Miami-Dade County’s permitting process desperately needs modernization. It’s 2026, yet they still require things like in-person delivery of documents, handwritten signatures, physical seals, and other outdated procedures that should have disappeared years ago.

As a professional who regularly deals with different municipalities, the contrast is striking. Broward and Palm Beach counties are far ahead when it comes to accepting digital documents and providing a more efficient process.

Technology has transformed virtually every industry. Government should be using it to make things easier and more efficient for the public and professionals—not keeping procedures stuck in the past.

Miami-Dade can and should do much better.

We had an amazing female driver, I wish I had got her name, she was driving the 100 southbound and recommended Bayside Market Place to visit, she took time on a busy bus to give us directions (10/16/25) in the afternoon she passed us the next day (10/17/25) and stopped to ask how we had got on. She has long braided hair and was very happy and smiley, she really shows your company in the best light, more drivers like this lady. Please find her and pass on my regards.

Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has been detrimental to Miami-Dade County, Florida. She has indiscriminately raised property taxes to reflect Market Value which are an inflated, false housing boom prices created by special interests. She with her policies has single handily created a housing crisis in Miami-Dade by increasing rents and good, hard-working families are becoming homeless due to the un-affordability.

Miami Dade Animal Shelter,
The shelter staff goes above and beyond to help customers. We adopted a pup who ended up being sick. They took care of her medical needs. She ended up also getting a bad infection on her spay site. The shelter did everything they could for her to make sure she is a happy and healthy pup. The low cost clinic is a very long wait (hrs), but if you are on a tight budget and need shots this is the place to go. Every one has always been kind. We worked with two different adoption floor specialists and both of them had done everything they could for us, going out of their way to make this the best and easiest experience. Thank you for giving us sweet baby Talia, now Zoey.

THE BUILDING DEPARTMENTS PERMIT PROCESSES ARE EXTREMELY OUTDATED AND INEFFICIENT. THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEMS, INTERFACES, AND PAPER PLAN REVIEW SYSTEMS DO NOT ALLOW TO KEEP UP WITH THE SPEED OF THE FINANCE WORLD.

WHETHER THE PROPOSED PROJECT IS THE INSTALLATION OF A STATE PRE-APPROVED TRAILER, A NEW HOUSE, OR A MULTI-STORY COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE, THE PROCESSING TIME IS THE SAME. THIS IS FURTHER AGGRAVATED BY THE PERFORMANCE OF THE DOWNTOWN DEPARTMENTS.

MANY MANY, HOMEOWNERS, COMPANIES, AND BUSINESSES HAVE INCURRED GREAT FINANCIAL CHALLENGES THANKS TO THIS DEPARTMENT.
