My first time using Misterbandb
My first time using Misterbandb, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had a great experience. The couple who hosted me was fantastic. Staying with a gay couple was a great way to meet people while traveling. I don’t usually meet a lot of people traveling, so this gave me an entree. Felt like staying with family. The app was well designed and super easy to use. I was charged appropriately. Communication about what to expect at check in was clear and made everything easy.

host experiences are really bad as well
i m a host.. and if you join the site.. it s a real mess.. no service.. no contact.. and if there are problems with the booking guest.. noone is interested at all.
no answer at all.. or this bot-bullshit.. i got a booking.. without any contact infos.. than i got a storno, cause there should be something wrong in my settings.. but noone ve told me, what was wrong.. i tried to figure out what the problem was.. i started the ID-process again.. but it didn't work well.. like in the beginning.. after hours.. i could finished it.. it s really a mess.. like your whole website.. and than happened nothing.. i couldn't contact the booking member.. no contact details.. just 404-errors.. i tried to contact some one.. but noone was in.. only the bullshit AI, which i really do not know, why i should call them intellingent.. i was informed, that someone will inform me.. nothing happened.. after three days i got a call from someone who is not speaking english very well.. i didn't understand him very well. but at the end he couldn't explain me, what is going on.. and the only thing he recommended was.. to leave your platform.. that s great .. indeed.. - now i understand all the negative reviews about your platform..

First, about the lack of answers: I’m really sorry it felt like no one was there for you. Our team does reply to every request, but when we face a spike of urgent cases, response times can stretch a little, even if we’re still active and doing our best to help as fast as possible. Second, regarding the verification issues and the ID process: we know this can feel annoying, but unfortunately banking regulations require these checks to protect payouts, prevent fraud, and keep our community safe . That said, it should never take hours or feel this confusing, and I’m sorry you had to repeat the process. About the missing guest contact info and the 404 errors you experienced: that is not normal, and it usually means a technical glitch or an incomplete verification, but you should never be left unable to contact your guest.
We truly want you to feel supported on our platform, and it hurts us to know this wasn’t your experience. I really hope you can understand our response and give us another chance, you matter to us, and we’d love to show you the friendly, reliable experience you should have had from the start.
misterb&b has stolen over 500 dollars…
misterb&b has stolen over 500 dollars from me. Booked a stay at an apartment WITH THEM for three nights in Auckland. Unbeknownst to me, they booked me with Booking.com. misterb&b was the booker and the only entity that could check messages from the host on the Booking.com site. The host would not communicate outside of Booking.com and even though I talked to the host on the phone on the day, I could not convince them to give me the codes to enter the building or anything like that (and I was still talking with them at 4:00 PM... when check-in had been 2:00 PM. misterb&b finally forwarded the information needed at 9:30 PM after being completely unable to be contacted (and I had been trying to contact them for a DAY AND A HALF). I had since then had to book with a hotel at the last minute and could not take advantage of the booking any longer and would have lost even more money if I had booked out of the new accommodation. I am contesting, of course. In the meantime, take if from me: stay away from misterb&b. (After I wrote this review... about 3 weeks later, they refunded the money for the lodging, but I in the meantime spent nearly 500 dollars more on last minute accommodation and had spent many many hours on providing documentation to the bank to reverse the credit card charge [which in the end I did not need to do]-- this company was happy to throw me into the maw of explaining myself over and over and taking time from me. How much easier it would have been for it to have live people able to intervene... remember the 1.5 day lead in where they only had bots to talk to me? AND AGAIN: my time, much of it, is worth nothing as far as they are concerned.

We only manage the booking, but these partners sometimes operate with their own communication rules and delays. I also understand your frustration about the response time: even though our team generally replies quickly, busy periods can unfortunately stretch our delays, and I’m truly sorry this affected you. Regarding the access issue caused by the host not replying, this is a rare but very stressful situation, and you absolutely deserved smoother and faster support from us. There was a time where MisterB&B was indeed a website dedicated to hosting by gay (or real gay-friendly) hosts. Now, you find there exactly the same hotels and commercial offers than on Booking or other hotel sites, with the MisterB&B commission on top. Useless. They have sold their soul.

Pinkwashing
I am writing to express my deepest outrage. Mister B&B made an alliance with Booking.com. That is nothing more than a shameful pinkwashing strategy—a maneuver that exploits and disappoints the LGBTQ+ community.
It is alarming that a for-profit company, which claims to serve and protect our community, would irresponsibly expose us to potential risks, such as poor host communication or a lack of immediate support in critical moments. This is not only an operational failure but a betrayal of the trust we place in you.

Really well designed and easy to use. Both experiences I've used them for now have been brilliant. And used here in the UK and in the EU!

Stay away horrendous scam
This site is never used by me I think I may have joined to have a look as I was initially interested but made no booking and definitely didn’t knowingly agree for them to help themselves to my my money every month, where there’s no way to cancel it - they are disgusting scam artists who run this site
And have no problem taking money from my credit card every month
I can’t find anyway to stop this happening so I’ve had to cancel my credit card
This seems like a scam site to me

To clarify: misterb&b does not steal money from anyone — we wouldn’t have been around for over 10 years if that were the case, and it goes against everything we stand for as a platform dedicated to creating a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. In almost all situations like yours, these charges come from the Weere subscription, which can be added by mistake during browsing or a booking attempt. It can indeed be activated without noticing, but if you didn’t mean to subscribe or didn’t use the service, we can refund it quickly, just contact our team and we’ll take care of it right away.
Regarding customer support: we do have an active team, and even if response times can stretch a bit during busy periods, we always reply, and we’re here to help, never to ignore issues or make you feel abandoned.
We truly hope this explanation helps you understand what happened and that you’ll give us another chance. We’re really sorry for the experience you went through, and we remain available to resolve everything quickly and clearly for you.

We discovered thankfully one month before our arrival that the apartment that we rented was fake. The guy tried to steel our identity. We alert Mister B&B and they did nothing. The guy is still online ... We asked for a complete refund and we are still waiting ....

Overpriced with Censorship
Overpriced and ridiculously anti-free speech. This app started a social side called Weere that is a flop. They allow you to mention “clothing optional” but then censor some pics. Mine was a fully clothed side shot jock strap where a tiny bit of flesh was shown. They thought that was shocking to a gay customer base and threatened to delete my account. Yet a much younger full nude ass shot was allowed in my same city. It’s ageism and discrimination, at a higher price than the same properties are posted on other sites.

Regarding the photo moderation, our system can occasionally flag an image by mistake, even when it’s perfectly acceptable. A fully clothed or partial side-shot should not trigger a threat of account deletion, and if this happened to you, we sincerely apologise, that’s not the kind of experience we want you to have. If you believe a picture was wrongly censored, our team can manually review it and correct the decision. As for other users’ photos, differences usually come from how the automated filter interprets each image rather than from age or preference. We do not tolerate ageism or any form of discrimination, and we’re happy to review any case where you feel moderation was inconsistent.
About pricing, we understand why it may look higher than on larger platforms. As a small, independent LGBTQ+ platform, our operating costs are significantly higher because we serve a niche community across 200+ countries, with strong investments in safety, identity checks, fraud prevention, taxes, compliance, and fair wages for our queer team. We don’t have the massive volume of mainstream platforms to spread these costs — that’s why fees can sometimes look higher.
