Nice mower, delivery and instructions poor
Mower looks good, and worked well although only used it once so far.
Not impressed by delivery with 36 kg box just tipped over my gate and fell to the floor!
Instructions are really poor and seem to be the least Mountfield can get away with, leaving guesswork for the purchaser, covering several different models with different features. Don’t even state the petrol or oil capacity of the engine.
I sent an e-mail in about the way it was delivered, didn’t get a response.
Easy going online found what I needed paid for it here within week of ordering

Poor customer service
Had my Mountfield lawn mower under a year. This review isn’t about the actual lawn mower, which is performing well. It’s about the grass catcher and Mountfield customer service. I emailed them a good few weeks ago asking why my grass catcher box becomes un clipped in use. The black plastic lugs that clip through the sides worked fine for a while, but with continued use they pull through, meaning that with only a small amount of grass in the catcher, it pulls apart. IMO this is a design fault. I emailed them to ask if there was a solution, but have heard nothing, apart from the automatic reply that they’ve received my email. I further contacted them last month, but have still had no reply. Looking at other peoples comments, this isn’t an isolated case. I’ve since made a fix with a long shoelace, that tied in such a way as it supports the metal frame and thus the weight of the grass, that was causing the problem. My fix is working well, but that’s hardly the point. What a shame that a good lawn mower is let down by a poorly designed grass catcher and abysmal customer service. I would be reluctant to purchase another Mountfield product in the future because of this.

Burnt my fingers on the lawn mower and…
Burnt my fingers on the lawn mower and petrol started pouring down the engine on the outside, really scary!
Nearly four weeks, a faulty mower, an Italian holiday, and my neighbour's Ring doorbell. Still no resolution.
Ordered a Mountfield mower on 11th May 2026. It arrived, was correctly assembled and fuelled per the instructions, and simply didn't work. What followed has been nearly four weeks of the most comprehensively shambolic customer service I have ever encountered.
After spending hours troubleshooting, researching, and waiting for a potentially flooded engine to dry out, I emailed customer services. Ten days passed with no reply. I then called, waited over 30 minutes in a queue, and eventually spoke to someone who agreed to arrange a collection and replacement (although they could only collect if oil and fuel had been removed).
I was promised instructions on how to drain the fuel and oil before collection. They never arrived. I sourced my own pump from a friend, drained the machine myself, dismantled it, and repackaged it in the original box.
What followed was a sequence of failures that would be funny if it wasn't happening to me:
• 1st June (agreed collection date): no collection, no contact.
• 2nd June: courier arrived unannounced — at my neighbour's house. Left a message on their Ring doorbell and left the area. I only found out because my neighbour told me.
• I called the courier directly. They confirmed they had the correct address on file but the driver had gone to the wrong house. They promised he would return the following day.
Rang customer services only to discover they were closed for holidays ... on a Tuesday.
• 3rd June: courier did not return.
• When I called customer services again on 3rd June (another 30 mins in a queue), I was told the office had been closed the previous day for an Italian public holiday, despite this being a UK customer services number. They were going to look into the problem.
• 7th June: the mower still has not been collected (although I've had confirmation it is going to be tomorrow). No replacement has been dispatched. The agreed 7-day delivery window for the replacement has now elapsed with no confirmation of when — or whether — it will arrive.
I have a full email trail, a detailed log of every failed contact, and photographs of my garden showing the condition of my lawn after nearly a month without a working mower.
This is a company that supplied a faulty product, failed to respond to contact for ten days, missed their own agreed deadlines, routed a UK helpline through Italy, sent a courier to the wrong address, and has now gone beyond every commitment they made without resolution or explanation.
I would strongly advise anyone considering a Mountfield or Stiga product to think very carefully about what happens if something goes wrong.
Update to follow.

It’s a good mower
The mower is very clean looking quite light for its size and cuts really well you do need two batteries to conquer the larger lawns only fault the self propelled drive is a bit fast it could do with a slower gear

Princess 38
Princess 38. It just turned up on the doorstep one day with no notification of delivery. Easy to assemble, grass collecting box is a little small, electrical connector keeps unplugging and have had to repair the height adjuster once as the front wheels became disconnected for no apparent reason. Cuts well but overall is a bit on the flimsy side.
DONT BUY MOUNTFIELD - WARRANTY IS WORTH NOTHING
SHOCKINGLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
We bought our Mountfield HW531 PD lawnmower only a year ago. For the first year, it was great, no problems. This year however, it's been a different t story. So far this year it's been back to the shop 3 times, pretty much every fortnight since I started mowing. It's not fit for purpose and is far from the rugged mulching mower it was advertised to be. We had to email three times before we got a response from customer services. At that point we got a very unsatisfactory response, completely ignoring the actual complaint, making it about something we hadn't complained about in the first place and completely dissolved themselves of any responsibility towards me as a customer. After having to take the mower back to the shop for repair every other week since the season began, we want a replacement mower, but there was no acknowledgment of this at all. We still want a replacement mower, but having sent multiple more emails, we are now being completely ignored by customer services. Extremely unprofessional and diabolical customer services from Mountfield/Stiga. If you need a new mower, avoid Mountfield at all costs!!! Now we are being told the parts we need will not be available til September! So virtually an entire mowing season with no mower! THIS IS SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH
Free extra battery much appreciated.
My petrol mower was great when it works…
My petrol mower was great when it works so no issue with the product. The issue is, getting it to work. As the mower is still under warranty, trying to contact them and for them to answer the phone is “challenging”. By that I mean, they haven’t answered the phone yet. Emails were the next port of call. Yup, you guessed it, none of my emails have been responded to.
As the saying goes, you know how good a company is once things go wrong……
Simple failures
1.
I was unable to register my new lawnmower online, which incidentally was purchased directly from you.
2.
Wasn’t able to purchase bespoke engine oil and fuel additive directly from you.
3.
Finally, my purchase was shipped in a box that wasn’t fit for the rigours of handling by courier services.
Accessory supplied with mower did not fit.
After delivery I discovered the rear grass deflector accessory bought with the new mower did not fit the model it was supplied with. I would have expected the white glove delivery service to have assembled the accessory and demonstrated it's use on delivery. Demonstration of the mower itself in use only happened when I requested it.
Important information
More proof of what a useless company Mountfield is, just had my warranty registration returned to my by Royal Mail, marked “addressee gone away”
Don’t use this outfit!
