They damaged my camera, admitted it, offered compensation then vanished on their promise

I sent a Sony A7RII to be sold and the experience was, to say the least, deeply frustrating.

The shipping process was complicated and took far too long. After finally managing to send the camera, I received a message saying they would not accept the item — with no explanation given.

The camera was returned. When I opened it, the buttons were not working and the camera wouldn't record. I have video proof that the equipment was in perfect condition before shipping.

After weeks of back-and-forth with support — where I had to follow up repeatedly just to get a response — the company itself admitted responsibility and offered to pay the original value of €555, plus a €200 voucher. I accepted.

They have now gone back on that and say they can no longer accept the camera.

I do not recommend this service. I wasted weeks of my time, and I'm left with a damaged piece of equipment that they didn't even send it back to me...

Broken camera. No money. No camera returned. Weeks wasted. I don't need to say more.

I change the stars from 1 to 2 even tho I will not likely use their platform ever again just because they ended up resolving my problem in the end but still really though and for some moments I really was thinking they were trying hard for me to forget that they broke my camera..
nonetheless I have to say YOSR was the person behind all the help she was the reason I got my problem resolved so thanks to her !!

What has happened to MPB?

Well, I never thought I’d have to write this review. Where do I even start?

I got a quote from MPB for my lens, and that’s where everything started to go badly wrong. DPD collected the parcel, and all the tracking information showed it had been safely delivered to MPB. I even received an email from MPB confirming that “your gear is safe with us”.

A week passed and I hadn’t heard anything, so I contacted them to check everything was alright. I was told everything was in order. Then, just one hour later, I received another email saying they had not received my equipment. They asked me to provide tracking information and serial numbers to assist with their investigation — despite the fact they had already confirmed receipt of the item.

Fortunately, I had plenty of evidence, including CCTV footage of the DPD collection with timestamps, along with DPD confirmation emails matching the same times. I explained all of this repeatedly over multiple emails, but the blame was then shifted onto DPD. I was given a rather unbelievable explanation involving “batch deliveries” and claims that the driver had supposedly taken the parcel back after delivery.

After around 20 emails back and forth, the status of my gear still showed as “safe with us”. Another week later, I received an email saying I had “won the case” — although nobody had even explained what case they were referring to.

A few days after that, I finally received an updated quote offering an underpayment of £70 for a lens that was virtually new, had only been used three times, and had been kept in a neoprene protective sleeve from day one.

By this stage, I was so exhausted by the poor communication and unprofessional handling of the situation that I simply accepted the offer. The thought of asking for the lens back and sending it elsewhere felt like even more stress. In future, I’ll be using Wex Photo Video instead, as I’ve never had any issues with them.

I’ve sold many items to MPB in the past without any problems, which makes this whole experience even more disappointing. It’s a real shame to see what was once a reliable company decline so badly. My personal feeling is that the lens was either misplaced or delayed internally, and instead of admitting it, an unbelievable story was created to cover the situation.

I’m genuinely sorry I can’t leave a positive review this time — and unfortunately, there won’t be a next time either.

Great purchasing experience

I purchased the Nikon D6 from MPB and I am extremely satisfied. The camera arrived exactly in the condition described on the website, and the real photos helped me choose the perfect copy. Their verification service and included warranty provide a security that you don't find on regular classifieds sites."

Poor quality goods but excellent customer service

In the last 8 months I have purchased 3 different model Nikon cameras from MPB all with low shutter counts listed in excellent condition. However all cameras have had issues with oil spots on the sensor. The first camera was un-useable at F5.6 and beyond; I can only presume that MPB do not test the items properly that they are listing as 'excellent'. Customer service has always been really helpful however now on my 3rd camera with a filthy sensor I cannot even be bothered and will just arrange a local sensor clean at my own expense as a cannot afford to be without a camera for 10+ days as I use it for work. Unfortunately I wont be using MPB again

Initial response was quick, polite and helpful. Turn around time was super fast and the transaction was done so quick that it was the most professional and effective customer service I have ever received. I’m fully satisfied with this great company!

Super professional!

Used MPB to both buy and sell. Personally, I had great experiences on all ocassions.
When selling on one ocassion my quote was improved after they assessed the lens (appreciate the honesty).
Also had an issue with a camera that I bought as the LCD display frame was cracked. They replaced the camera and organised collection of the old camera free of charge. I can't really fault them at all.
I believe is not fair when issues lie with the delivery companies to reflect on mpb.
Luckily both EVRI and DPD are great in my area so never had any issues with the delivery.
Wouldn't look anywhere else for my photography equipment (I always buy used)

MPB come up with the goods again.

Have used MPB for many years now & have always been impressed with the quality of their stock & their service. This time I was looking to trade a couple of my Canon EF lenses to purchase a much longed for RF telephoto zoom lens. MPB were very fair in assessing the condition of my lenses and after accepting their valuation the transaction was completed. Their delivery was anticipated to be for the early part of the following week so I was absolutely delighted to be notified by MPB that my new lens would be with me today, 3 days earlier than anticipated. The new lens is in superb condition with barely a mark on the body & pristine optics. Once again MPB have impressed me with their customer service, communication & quality of stock. They will continue to be my preferred choice when it comes to updating my camera equipment. Awesome👍👍
