Amazon Mechanical Turk worst Management

Hello, My personal experience. I joined mturk on april 2012. From 2012 to 2017, I earn more than 600$ per month working on mturk, where as from 2018 to till now, my monthly salary gone down and reach to 50$ per month.
Reason, amazon mechanical turk increased pricing from 20% to 40 percent. All clients disappointed and left amazon mechanical turk. I am very angry and sad working on amazon mechanical turk. They are ashamed of doing this. They behave rudely. Amazon mechanical turk has worst management. By increasing mturk pricing they loss, we loss and clients loss.

Worst customer care ever

Worst Amazon service ever. Appalling customer care who are rude, incompetent and literally take months to reply. Suspended my account without warning. My account has been up and running for more than 10 years, after loading the account with $1000 dollars they accepted the payment then locked me out of my account. They never send any emails or details explaining what happened. I contacted them and a month later they reply asking that I verify my identity by sending a FAX!!! It’s 2023 and a multibillion company like Amazon is asking to use a technology that do not exist anymore. I had to pay a lot of money to get that sorted and so far and more than a month later Amazon have never responded and my account is still suspended. This is an utter scam by such a wealthy company. Shameful!!!

Largely useless especially if you're a newbie

Largely useless for new starters - read on. This is one of those sites that comes up in 'How To Make a Fortune Working Online' type searches. Firstly, it is a real, 'legit' thing and it's owned by Amazon. It parcels out small pieces of online work in units called 'Hits'.
I found a few of these that looked interesting, it looked from the 'preview' that I could have done them and they paid alright for a bit of pocket money if you could do enough of them.
Problem was I was not 'qualified' to do them. Qualification largely means having done hundreds or thousands of previous hits.
So you end up in a chicken/egg situation where you can't do any jobs because you are not 'qualified' and you can't qualify because you can't do any jobs.
This means you're reduced to doing things which have an 'unqualified' entry which usually means - surprise- endless tedious and intrusive online surveys.
The only other piece of work I found was accessible to me was trying to find email addresses for people online. It was largely impossible it took me half an hour to find one and the allotted time was 5 minutes. I also got the impression that the end user was just after collecting email addresses to spam people.
Interestingly, there are a lot of posts here from business users of the site saying the survey information they got back was useless, because clearly a lot of people are stuffing them with any old rubbish just to get qualified for better work.
Oh and also they don't pay you apparently except in Amazon Gift Tokens. For the USA. Unless apparently if you live in India, so no prizes for guessing who this work is really for.

Personally

Personally, this site helps me a lot.
I have earned a maximum of 8000 per month. But this income is based on how much time you spend on this site. Even I also got a Hyperwallet from Amazon m Turk. Which makes an easy direct money transfer to my Indian bank account.
I have tried many platforms to earn money online but there is not a single website on the internet which can compete or near to m Turk.
Amazon M Turk keeps it up.

Do not wast your time!

Unless you live somewhere where a few cents are worth something, don't even bother joining this program. When I realized what it was about, I never opened mturk again, and pretty much forgot about it. That's until I got an email saying they'd suspend my mturk account as I lied on my location, supposedly on cross check with my amazon purchases since I never logged in again (I did not lie, geniuses, I'm travelling for summer - have you ever heard of people doing that, or is it against your "rules"?). Since I never did any "task" there, I don't care - but I find it offensive, PLUS it's super scammy if someone had spent any time on it gathering a few dollars.
This thing isn't worth anyone's time. I'm surprised Amazon owns it.

Amazon Has An Attitude Issue...

For the second time, I've got the following response from them:
"Your application has been reviewed and at this stage, we're sorry but it has been declined. We in Customer Service have no insight into the registration criteria and do not have any details about the review process. While we appreciate your interest in our service, at this time, the decision is final and can't be appealed.
In the interest of your time, any further emails to Customer Support on this subject will not be responded to as we are unable to make any change to this decision and have no insight to the registration criteria. We will resolve this case for your convenience"

"Customer Service have no insight into the registration criteria and do not have any details about the review process"
This is what they say when they don't have a clue.
As I said to them, they don't even care to tell me what the issue is, I can't solve an issue that I totally ignore, right?
And the screening is just about my name, email, race, or what? Because they don't have much information about me, nor I will provide for such a low-level job.
Amazon was nice when used to sell books, but then they got ridiculous and even decided to avoid paying taxes, which is a federal offense.
Disgusting company, to say the least.

To my great regret I have to report a…

To my great regret I have to report a shameful fact from Amazon Mturk.

They suspended my account in a totally unjustified way, so, suddenly, while I was working.

Now I have sent an email to the support to understand why, but reading around I have seen that they block randomly without reason and do not unlock more, thus ruining the lives of those who earn some money with Mturk in this moment of epoch.

Please unlock my account, I have not committed any infraction.

Don't waste your time with this site

Don't waste your time with this site, as a worker or a requester.

The results you get from the surveys are garbage. Workers just press inputs randomly with no pattern.

As marketing insight, this site gives you zero insight.

Dreadful site

Abusively low pay in the great majority of tasks; many of them crash, so you get nothing; a real pain to get your money if you're not in the US.

Support is totally incompetent

If you have any problem within the platform, their support is beyond terrible, they even generate more problems than you'd originally have. I even got my account suspended when I was asking them about a PAYMENT.

It's a good source of income if USA based

I have done work on Mturk for a month now in my spare time. Just to try it out. It's very good and I have made over a hundred dollars. Only down side is most of the HITs are for US citizens. Very few for UK residents like me. 😢.. Please improve access to the UK and the site will be much improved.

This site is nearly worthless as a requester

Wow. I just wasted a lot of time and money attempting to collect data using this platform.
The workers do not take these studies seriously AT ALL! I can't believe anyone gets anything useful from the lazy, worthless workers on this site. The only way I can see this site being useful is if you filter your workers. Otherwise you will just generate a bunch of meaningless data where all the workers simply push the same key for every item on the survey. I'm actually super pissed I just wasted all that time and money to set this up only to have to throw away almost ALL the data I collected.

Amazon Turk isn't what it used to be

Amazon Turk isn't what it was 2-3 years ago. The pay is lower. Researchers don't treat you with courtesy and some will cheat you (use your data and not pay). The Master's rating is a big mystery and Turk won't define/explain it. Pay seems to have gotten worse since I started a couple years ago. Finally, if you have a dispute with a researcher, Turk won't help resolve it.
