No beautiful farmers at my door
Well, where do I start? I signed up for Muddy Matches thinking I’d meet some beautiful female farmers or at least their daughters.. but nope, nothing! No knock at the door, no “hello, handsome!”
I’m living in South Wales and got matched with people 4 to 8+ hours away in London, Manchester and even Edinburgh (!) what part of "rural" don’t they understand? I’m starting to think the only thing matching me to these profiles is the internet’s definition of "nearby"!
Then there's the member activity.. Or should I say lack of it. Out of the 100+ views I got in a month, only 5 people bothered to message me first (and let’s be honest, we’re not talking about Shakespearean love letters here). I messaged 20 people out of the 100 visits, and only 3 bothered to open it. 17 of them? They didn’t even open it.
And don’t get me started on the profiles.. it's like reading the same paragraph over and over! I was hoping for unique, country-loving individuals, but instead, I found a sea of single mothers with 3 kids from 5 different partners, all hoping for a "better life." It’s like they copy-pasted the same profile from a guide titled "How to Write a Generic Dating Profile."
Oh, and the app.. yikes! It’s like they took everything that was good about the website, locked it in a cupboard, and threw away the key. It’s missing so much info, it’s like they forgot to finish it before launching.
In conclusion, if you want to find someone, you’re better off walking to the nearest farm, knocking on the door, and asking if they’re single. At least you won’t have to deal with the app crashing, ghosted messages, or endless generic profiles.
Worth it
I joined this site a couple of years ago after really struggling and losing hope with the more mainstream dating sites where few people my age (24 at the time) are looking for anything serious.
I am very pleased to say that Muddy Matches connected me with the most wonderful man who I am now engaged to, I am so grateful for the whole ethos of the site which I found to be very refreshing. I am lucky that it didn't take long but my fiance had been on there for several months so patience really is key.
From experience I would highly recommend it to other young people my age who are struggling to make meaningful connections with like-minded people on dating sites. It offers/promotes a more traditional experience which I really liked. Very grateful!
Rip off
Gave me a trial for a month. Didn't bother emailing me to say that it was coming to and end and now charged me £25.99...do not use this dating site, it's just a rip off

Pointless
If you add a girl as a 'favourite', then check back 3 days later, and the page says she was 'last online within 24h'. -Ok, except, she didn't 'visit' my profile? (it states a 'visit') - No, of course they'd at least have a look. This is many examples, not just one. IE Manipulation by the website.
If you send a message, and their profile says they were online recently, but your message is still marked as 'unread'. This is website manipulation. Of course they would read it.
Many many profiles have identical sentences, such as .."I love a long walk, especially if there is a pub at the end of it", OR, "You'll know I love animals because.." (..I have 2 goats, 2 horses, 10 sheep, whatever etc). Who starts a sentence like this? Or, "I'm convinced we'll get on, if you ask me about.." ..X Y & Z (certain subjects or interests). There are endless profiles stating precisely word-for-word, these aforementioned sentences. More evidence of fake profiles (?
If you're looking for a girl who is not into horses (and / or farming) and that whole world, this site is probably not for you - Over half exclaim their love of horses and say they are "happiest out in the yard, mucking out and getting muddy" (I'm not 'having a go', I'm just stating facts). Many have photos of them jumping on a horse, hugging or kissing a horse.
..This brings me onto photos - Half of all profiles barely have a single useful photo (they can't be seen properly). For example, it's a distant shot of them on a horse, wearing a helmet and it's blurred IE You literally can't see what they look like at all. Most have photos that are mid action and bizarre/ most have photos (solely) of animals, sunsets, group pics etc (the person in question is not in the photo). People looking at dating sites, want to see what the person looks like - we don't want to see your family and friends (if we're lucky, it means we'll meet them later), we don't want to see random other things, we want to see what you look like .. without huge sunglasses and hats, and not miles away in the distance. This goes for women looking for a man etc. The website is adjudicated, and yet they don't stop this (it aids them financially, not to stop this). The people doing this (the supposed users on the site), are wasting their own time - Try and help yourself - a little common sense please (..not aided by the site's bosses / clearly, people need guidance!).
..This brings me onto the site adjusticaors - If I wrote any of the above, on the site IE regarding the truth, they wouldn't publish it. Or if I wrote that I had now left the site, but might be back, they wouldn't publish it, as the more people that are on the site, and it doesn't' matter if they're not using it, they can project that they have more on the site, and its possible, they can state they were online recently, when they've probably not been online for ages and have given up. Orwellian, for the sites benefit.
MM is less manipulative and money grabbing than most other dating sites, so it's a shame it isn't improved upon. However, and it's a big 'however' - Lets not forget that ALL dating sites/ apps, are businesses - they don't actually want you to meet someone (and that it lasts), as then they wouldn't make more money from you / They want to keep you on the (fishing) line, forever and ever ..lovely passive income for the owners. For most (I could expand here, but I'd better wrap it up), they are a total waste of time and money. A colossal con, of the 21st Century.

We are now happily married and looking forward to the future. Don’t give up you will find your sole mate.

Easy to find genuine, like-minded dates
Many of the reviews on here are really harsh I feel. I used muddy and interacted with lovely, genuine men. The site is easy to use and also, importantly, easy to change or cancel your subscription. If you're attracting creeps, have a look at your profile and the vibes you're sending out.
Not quite what it appears. Very few new people
Sadly it wasn’t quite what I expected. The very few people I actually connected with were weird. Luckily for me I found out before I met them. I also found the platform very annoying and unfriendly to use.
I will not be renewing as I know there are better dating sites.
If you choose to register and pay good luck and be careful!
Unable to contact them or me.
Many years I signed up for three months and tried to contact several members but no response. No-one contacted me either. Narrowly avoided re-occuring membership. Several years later found my details still listed as a member. In my opinion many of the members listed are those whose membership had expired so pointless trying to contact.
I was recommended the site don’t give up!!!!by a friend…
I was recommended the site by a friend who found the love of his life in 5 days.
Mine took a bit longer but I’ve found what I think will be my forever partner. We were both honest and genuine and it’s worked for us both. The picture of the shetland pony started something amazing!!!!
Thank you muddy matches!!!
The membership cost is ridiculous
The membership cost is ridiculous. At least, for queer folk.. I get about 20 profiles for the whole of Scotland, and I'm expected to pay £26 for ONE MONTH for the privilege of maybe contacting ONE person I might find cute..
£100 for annual membership? Are you serious?....
I could say this is the best because…
I could say this is the best because they accept your such & they reply on the time
AVOID - scammers
AVOID - COMPLETE SCAMMERS!! I turned off my auto renewal after getting messages from a lot of old creeps and a convicted criminal. Muddy matches said I never cancelled and charged me again. Absolute scam and I have reported them to my bank!
My first experience
It was my first time on a dating site and found them very relaxed and straightforward to use.
I was lucky that I did not have to use it for very long, but felt, I was in control the whole time.
I would recommend
They are quick to sign you up but when…
They are quick to sign you up but when you want to change profile picture they won't approve the main picture but will let you and photos (first image is the most important)
Secondly editing your you description is near impossible
The rest of the site works reasonably well but no backup and no correspondence
But hey ho good luck with anyone who they do respond to
Poor functionality.
Not the easiest to navigate, not a very fluid app. Photos are a chaw to change, upload etc. Can't navigate from someone who's messaged you to their profile for example.
Hate to say it, but tinder has the user experience nailed.
OMG! Its the best by far
OMG! Muddy Matches has changed my life totally and ive met my forever love cant thank these guys enough.
Forget any other dating sites as muddy matches dont have any fake profiles and this actually works,i dated several woman on here before meeting the one. Worth the time and effort and money. You wont be dissapointed. Thanks again Muddy Matches you are the best. xx
Giving up on other dating site
Giving up on other dating site , muddy matches was my last try . Within few days got a lady put me as a favourite.
We meet for a long walk and coffee and started dating .
We have now been together for 7 month and having a very happy life living together. Thank to muddy matches
An extremely poor website and even…
An extremely poor website and even worse customer service. They offer you a discounted price and don’t make it clear that after the initial month you will automatically be charged full price whether you want to continue or not. They are disingenuous and the staff are far from caring
MUCH better than most Sites
This Site is MUCH better than most dating sites, with genuine people on there.
I have made a good (farmer) friend & another farmer friend from it. (Sadly haven’t met a partner yet, after 2 years. Am 61).
Reason I’ve not given 5* is simply because, as a niche site, the numbers are very small. Many Profiles are non-subscribed or defunct, but this is the case with ALL dating sites: as MM is a specialist site it means the pool is small, but it’s worth persevering.
(Aquaintance at 73 met his partner, though it took a few years).
Dont waste your time on here as they…
Dont waste your time on here as they dont have a lot of members and the few they do have are not subscribed so they cant communicate with you only send a wink or add you to favourites.
I Paid for a for a years subscription .It took them a day to authorise my pics and then a second day to inform me my written profile was not approved because i mentioned on my profile that “i had decided to subscribe” which is not allowed apparently! So i asked to cancel my paid subscription on Tuesday and they thought they were entitled to charge me for 2 days despite the fact i subscribed on sunday night and my profile was not yet fully authorised by them.
The fact the felt threatened by me mentioning i was subscribed is proof that that they are a business to avoid!
