From riches to rugs

This used to be such a splendid airport in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Sadly, it didn't progress or at least keep pace with new requirements. There is ONE!!!! socket one the floor next to lady's toilet in terminal C. After our flight was delayed, many people desperately tried to recharge their laptops and mobile phones.
Many areas were cordoned off for renovation.
Even though checking in at C and flying from C, you are taken on a 20 minute walk all along the 1st floor right to terminal B, then forced downstairs and sent back to C. Who on earth is responsible for this? This airport has definitely gone downhill big time.

I am flying in and out of Munich

I am flying in and out of Munich - internationally now for many years.

Luggage and passport control take longer here than in the other airports I use. The luggage caroussel is overwhelmed by a A380, passengers slow through the passportcontrol cant pick up their luggage and have their luggage blocking the caroussel.

Thats maybe still acceptable - but flying out 23/8/2025 I noticed the toilets in the public area and especially at the Gate (Terminal 2) were a shocker. Filthy. Strong urine smell, shit in the toilets, broken toilets. Whats going on? the airport used to be OK, maybe even good and effective?

I was glad to get out of it. Dubai, Singapore Brisbane all way better these days.

World’s worst passport control. MUC

This has to be the slowest least organized passport control on the planet! I have been to dozens of countries. This is so far behind the second worst I have ever experienced it it beyond’s words.
300 people queuing with 2 passport people. PATHETIC. Munich airport you should hang your heads in shame.

Munich Airport Departures – Utter Chaos Disguised as an International Hub

I travel often and have used airports across Europe, Africa, and North America, but nothing compares to the dysfunctional mess that is Munich Airport Departures.

From the moment you enter, it’s clear this airport is in serious need of a redesign – both physically and culturally. The signage is abysmal, often missing entirely, placed in confusing positions, or simply contradicting earlier directions. If you’re not already stressed, navigating this airport will get you there fast.

The layout defies all logic and international convention. Rather than a coherent flow from check-in to departures, you’re herded through a maze of escalators, corridors, and bottlenecks that seem deliberately designed to frustrate. It feels like whoever designed this airport had never set foot in a functioning one.

Then there’s the staff. It’s rare to encounter such consistently rude, dismissive, and unhelpful personnel across multiple touchpoints. Basic questions are met with sighs, eye rolls, or outright hostility. Hospitality and professionalism appear to be foreign concepts here.

And if you think it ends there, wait until you reach passport control – or rather, the understaffed chokepoint that pretends to be passport control. Long queues snake back through the terminal with barely a handful of officers on duty, while staff nearby seem indifferent to the mounting delays.

In short, Munich Airport Departures is an international disgrace. It combines bureaucratic indifference, architectural incompetence, and customer service contempt into one deeply frustrating experience. Unless absolutely unavoidable, I will be routing all future travel elsewhere.

Much Airport is hilariously terrible

Much Airport is hilarious: you can only log complaints on human rights or environmental violations, which tells you that they have zero interest in improving the general experience. I was traveling with two kids who don't speak German. As I was trying to help them put their belongings in the bins at security the officer got extremely rude to me, as if I were ignoring her commands, yet she wasn't helpful to my kids at all. So I got treated as a criminal. She didn't give clear instructions to any of us, yet got pissed when we tried to figure out what she wanted from us. Very unpleasant start of our trip. Will try to avoid this airport in the future if I can.

Profits it is

As per normal in Munich airport, you arrive on time from Berlin. Oh what a surprise it must have been for the airport’s company, no stairways no staff no busses
But airports company show profits
What about paying your people?

Really poor

I guess it’s true that people only write reviews when it’s bad but I use Munich a lot and it is only second to CDG as awful airports go. Slow, hopelessly inefficient, surly staff, ridiculous lay out. I hear the new terminal is better which is Lufthansa so maybe it’s a deliberate ploy.

A national embarrassment, or it should be.

It's quite astonishing that any European airport can be this dreadful. Terminals closed, poor signage, inadequate staffing levels, ludicrously slow passport checking both on entry and exit, very long queues, and last minute gate changes. I've been to better third world airports.

Utterly useless

Utterly useless. Disorganised, slow and poor layout with passport control.

Travelling with Easyjet back to the UK we arrived 2.5 hours before departure but no bag drop desks were open.

Eventually one trainee guy opened up one lane whilst others sat there watching. A couple of women arrived late and despite sitting at bag drop desks, had no urgency in opening up. Looked like they had had a heavy night out.

Bag checks were slow and passport control is a joke with a massive walk for those who cannot use the automatic scanning lanes.

Despite being there early, we almost missed our flight.

German inefficiency at its best.

Violation of passengers rights, discrimination, insult, domination by the staff

I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the behavior of certain security personnel at Munic Airport May 13, 2025, specifically at Line 7 during the early afternoon shift.

A female security officer working that line (badge ID 3380982, name partially known as Frau Ga…) treated business class passengers with an infant in an extremely disrespectful and aggressive manner. She loudly and rudely demanded that the parents put the baby down, which caused the infant to start crying. Her tone and behavior were entirely inappropriate, showing a complete lack of empathy and professionalism.

During the security check with a handheld scanner, the officer came uncomfortably close to the mother, displayed hostile and aggressive behavior, and spoke in an intimidating tone. She loudly stated that she “doesn’t have to be polite,” and made a deliberate effort to assert dominance over the woman, who was holding a child in her arms. This caused significant distress to the passenger and the baby.

Assuming the passengers don’t speak German she continued to complain to her male colleague that were having the same behavior using the words along the lines of: Schlampe, Zicke, Miststück, etcetera.

A middle-aged male colleague supported her behavior and acted in a similarly inappropriate manner.

When I attempted to address the issue, their supervisor, Mr.Her Adamczyk, was uncooperative. Rather than addressing the misconduct, he appeared to protect the officer (badge ID 3380982, name partially known as Frau Ga…). He also refused to provide either his or her full name, which raises further concerns about transparency and accountability.

This experience was unacceptable and reflects poorly on the professionalism of your staff. I request a formal review of this incident and appropriate action to ensure respectful treatment of all passengers in the future—especially those traveling with children.

We will not stop till all the highest authorities react and fire the woman, and her colleagues male security, (refused to provide The Name), reports will be sent to every agency overlooking the airport. Since they can’t treat normal passengers, customers, people like criminals!
