Settlement agreements to fit my reduced income
I reached out to National Debt Relief (NDR) when there was a drastic reduction with my retirement finances.
After 20 plus years of paying high interest of credit card payments, I had to make an effort to reduce and pay off debt to fit my reduced security benefits. Therefore, with an agreement of minimal monthly payments to NDR over 45 months with four credit card organizations, they worked on my best support, and creditor negotiations began.
After signing in 12/2025, settlement agreements came through by 4/2026 and one of the cards were paid off. The customer service associates at NDR kept me well informed on each path and were understanding, courteous and very professional at all given times while working on my behalf.
In the beginning, my FICO score went down significantly; however, within the timeframe and my patience as settlements and payments were made, there was a noticeable increase overall.

Unprofessional Representative
For those who doesn’t know, you will have to quit paying on your accounts and wait for them to go into collections before many debt relief companies will try to negotiate with those creditors.
I’m not criticizing the process, but I needed to explain it for context about my experience with this representative.
I told the representative of my concerns that when my credit cards go into collections, they stay on my credit report for seven years even if paid off. The representative acted shocked and said that she never heard of that and it isn’t true.
Then, I told her about another debt relief company that I talked to. When I gave her the name of the company, she professed that she never heard of them. I told her that the company is ranked just under NDR and she can see that on the web.
Finally, I told her about the third debt relief company I talk to, and that this company negotiate immediately with the creditors. Instead of requiring me to stop payments to the creditors, they would negotiate with the creditors to lower my high interest rates on the cards from down of over 20% to lower rates between 1.9% and 9.9%. This time, she said she never heard of such a company doing this type of debt relief.
This representative continue to try to talk over to me as I try to explain to her that although the difference of my monthly payments between the company that negotiate the interest rates would be a little higher than the monthly payments to NDR, there would be no collections on my report.
In short, either this rude representative wasn’t properly trained, or was incompetent, or was just being very untruthful by pretending that she did not know anything about her competitors, or their approaches to debt relief or, or that the collections stay on your credit reports for 7 years.

I would not recommend this company
I would not recommend this company. The agents harass you, don’t respect your boundaries, and are rude. In fact, I’ve specifically requested an email so I can send a written cancellation to and they will not provide it. I used their online chats & they would not provide it, I contacted a so called agent for it & nothing.
Pretty convenient for them I’d say.
There was one day I receive 4 calls back to back, several text messages, and an email. I was busy & couldn’t answer. Another time, I SCHEDULED a time to speak with them and that agent never even called so I texted them. They said they were busy now at the agreed upon and scheduled time but they could call when they were done. Um no. I was busy after the time hence why I scheduled a specific time.
I think they are predatory and they clearly want to make it hard for me to cancel with them.
I do not recommend unless you want to be harassed and not be able to cancel.
These companies are getting bold.
