Aweful

Aweful, aweful & more aweful... Netgear Offer by email detailed 10% off and two day shipping. Placed the order June 29. With 2-day shipping, the invoice says it will arrive Jul 1 or 2... Perfect. Jul 2 ...no package. Check Fedex Tracking, the packsge was sent out Fedex Ground and is marked for earliest delivery July 6 End-of-Day. Go to Netgear website to call Customer Service... No phone number listed. So I first have to go search on web for one. Get it and call... 1 hour & 7 minutes later a representative answers and hangs up!! I call back... another hour+ on hold. Get someone who doesn't speak English or can comprehend sentence structure very well. Give him the order number and my issue. He starts telling me that it takes 2 to 3 days to handle and prepare the package for shipping. WAIT... Fedex Transit details says they picked it up on June 30 in the morning! So there is the first lie. Then he tries to blame it on COVID-19 delays. I explain that has nothing to do with the Pandemic or a delay, the package was not labeled for 2-day shipping, it says Fedex ground which all by itself would never get here in 2 days! He starts saying yes its our fault for the delay... and I have to remind him that it shipped the next morning, so where is your delay? I reiterate, The Package was Incorrectly shipped without Fedex 2-day applied. I suggest that Netgear retrieve the original package and send me a new order with Overnight Shipping which would actually get to me one day late of the original promise delivery. He has to check, I wait. He comes back and says that they cannot do that. So I ask to speak to a supervisor and he says there is no one around. Then WHO did he just talk to?? He apologizes for the delay (but not for lying several times) and states that nothing can be done. Goobye and I hang up. I really should have checked the reviews prior to my purchase. Even Consumer Affairs has the same terrible reviews. Just AWEFUL!!!!!!!!!

If I could give Netgear a 0 I would

If I could give Netgear a 0 I would - worse than the worst support and service - and the extenders that they advertize as mesh extenders are NOT mesh extenders - they are point to point - multiple extenders do not communicate with each other - EERO is much betterat true mesh - asked to return my EX8000 and EX7700 and they said NO REFUNDS only replacements - I said that it does not do what is advertized and I was told that I did not understand how mesh extenders work and what it means - finally - they said they would escalate to customer care to consider a refund - no response at all - and you cannot speak to anyone in customer care - although speakng with them is almost impossible - barely understandable - RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS FAST AS YOU CAN - useless!!!!!!

Poor Customer service - or basically none !!

The product ( Modem Router Model C3700 v2) was not working after three months time, the Netgear tech tried to troubleshoot it, but was not successful. He authorized an exchange under the warranty, BUT I had to pay a return fee and pay the postage ($35) approx). I was told that the tech that set this up with me originally should have checked this issue out, but he did not, and now they want me to pay for Netgear's technician error. I also had to pay a technical service fee of $50 to evaluate the unit and to have them tell me that it was defective. DO NOT BUY ANY NETGREAR PRODUCTS as you will run into this same issue with customer service.
Not a good company policy.

Bought a wifi extender

Bought a wifi extender, and set it up. It was working for a few days but failed to reestablish its internet connection after a power outage / power cycle.
Countless hours on the phone, multiple phone calls in a queue of 70+ people before me. Tech support finally agreed for a replacement, and told me I will get a link by email for me to initiate the return. Never did. And yes I did check my junk/spam email folder multiple times (note: I am in IT and so not completely clueless). Back to the Netgear customer portal / phone, told them so. Support kept giving me the walk around. Tried a different email address. Same result. After 3 or 4 times of this, still no link for me to initiate the return (keep in mind Netgear already had all my information since I had bought the device direcly from Netgear.com). Even though I never got any such link, I did keep getting emails from Netgear "We understand you required assistance and hope your experience was positive and your issue resolved".
I might as well talk to a wall. I hope the Netgear CEO will read this review. The Netgear customer support from India does not give a d*** about customers. Ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company, and still waiting to hear back from Netgear about this wifi extender and if they want it back. I will never buy anything from Netgear EVER again. I understand it's possible I may have received a deficient product, but there is no excuse for this horrible customer service.

I purchased a NetGear Nighthawk router…

I purchased a NetGear Nighthawk router ($190ish) back in November. Initial set up was difficult, but it seemed tech support was there to help. The internet stopped working a few days ago. Comcast came out and everything on their end was good...so we turned back to NetGear for help. They told me tech support would cost $89 for 6 months of tech support. Imagine my frustration. The call ended abruptly. It most certainly seems convenient to charge customers $89 for any troubleshooting when they can control your equipment remotely. NetGear equipment is trash. That is all.

Bought a Netgear repeater to boost our WiFi sognal. Tried to hook it up and was having problems using the wps method. I then tried to hook it up through our laptop. I then had to deal with someone on chat on the netgear website who took my phone number. I was then contacted by one of those people that claim my pc is infected and they wanted me to pay for them to clean my laptop SCAM!! I told them no and then noticed there was a reset on the bottom of the repeater. I reset it and it then worked fine. Beware!

Wow, if you need them you’re going to be disappointed

Wow, just wow. Their customer support Is unbelievable. They are one of the worst companies with customer service I’ve ever dealt with. Bought a meural canvas and after 4 cases, 3 chars and 40 plus minutes on the phone and a 3 day shipping delay with no explanation the item still does not work. Avoid them, avoid them at all costs. If you buy from them, never ever buy from them directly, have a way to return it and get your money back.

Stay away

Stay away! Technical support only lasts for 90 days. Then they try and make you pay $150 for more assistance. Not worth the initial cheaper price tag!

I purchased a new cable modem from them…

I purchased a new cable modem from them two weeks ago. It would not connect or operate. I called them, waited a half hour on hold then took 10 more minutes to identify myself and the product. They tried several steps and none worked. I was then told that they were a third party support company covering overflow for netgear during virus. I was disconnected. Called back two more timesaver the next day, each time waited 20-30 minutes. When they finally told me the product was defective, I asked for a replacement. They told me that due to the virus I would have to wait until the fifteenth of April to request a replacement. I went out and bought a more expensive modem so that I could get my service working while I waited for netgear to replace the original. Expecting to return the second modem if netgear was successful. Two weeks later I called to request the replacement. They claimed they had no record of my previous three calls and that I would have to start over diagnosing the issue. After another hour on the line they disconnected me and have not called back. What would you call that? Perhaps the worst customerservice I have ever experienced.

I bought the Night Hawk Netgear router…

I bought the Night Hawk Netgear router 3 months ago from Best Buy and it quit working. I called Netgear 5 times and 4 and half hours later finally got it to work. When I asked why the router quit working the tech had no answer and told me he was doing me a favor for helping me because after 30 days Netgear doesn't give tech support unless you pay them extra. I would not recommend buying any of the Netgear products or their stock!!!

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. A complete garbage and shall not (and hopefully will not) be in business for many more years. You buy a product that promise that you can control everything.. not long after they change the app, the product is no longer supported by the new app, and suddenly all the feature I had were gone. To me, that’s a SCAM! Trying to suck people money! Guess what... I will not pay one more cent, and to be home at I don’t care about the $200+ of the router. I’ll get a new one, but you won’t see one single $1 from me. And if I can prevent people to buy your product, you can bet I’ll do it.

netgear is trash

Purchased the net gear ac1200 model less than a year ago and randomly stopped working. I customer support and they would not help me unless I paid a 90$ warranty for a year costing more than the router. never buy from netgear. They don’t deserve your money.

Utterly abysmal.

Purchased a NightHawk router after contacting Netgear to check it would be the right item for my needs.

It doesn't work as expected. Contacted support. Spent an hour trying to resolve only to be told it was faulty and needed to be returned. Returned it to Amazon and got a replacement with exactly the same issues.

Called support again. Kept on hold for most of an hour while they contacted 2nd line support only to tell me this network extender wasn't compatible. I got a little irate and stressed that I'd already been told that it WAS compatible.

Further time on hold and then I'm told it is compatible. Taken through steps to install it and it still doesn't work.

Asked to speak to 2nd line support. Told they'd call within 8 hours. Two days later nothing.

This company are THE WORST at supporting their products. I'll never buy Netgear again. Utterly abysmal.

Horrendous customer service

Horrendous customer service. You have to buy a 200 dollar router that they wont support. They try to push their 200 dollar tech support on you when you call. I ended up figuring it out on my own. What a crap company. Will never purchase another product of theirs.

On my second Netgear Nighthawk MR1100…

On my second Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 and 3rd battery. Cannot seem to find a solution to it overheating. Checked many forums and Netgear community and no one seems to have an answer that works. The only way I can ask Netgear directly is by purchasing a customer support plan ($89.99 for minimum plan). If you are looking to buy any product sold by Netgear... DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!! Find a competitor!!!!

Bad products and services.

I bought a Netgear router and as soon as my warranty ran out it quit working. Costomer service would not help me resolve the problem. The only help I got was being told I could purchase a new router. What a joke! I would not suggest anyone buy Netgear products unless you like getting screwed.

Tech support review! Lied to try and force me to purchase software

Using the Router enhancer for 3-4 years now, which has and is still and excellent WiFi enhancer. I decided to send a cable through the house and use the device in my study as a wired Access Point, as the previous point (as WiFi Range Extender) was too far. Simply connecting the cable to the device didn't work and I looked at the NETGEAR site to see how to fix. A chat popped up and I had a technician call me back. A this point he said he could fix this and would like access to my PC using a screen share App which I allowed. Following this he ran a few tests in the background (netstat) saying that I have foreign addresses attached to my router and this was the reason that I could not connect.
NETGEAR has a solution for this and I needed to buy it. I was not interested, and did not believe that two were connected. Having repeated my need, changing the device from Extender to Access point, he insisted that he understood me and it cannot be done due to the foreign addresses on my network, that my home network is jeopardised and I need to buy the software. This was an absolute lie!
At this point I said I'm not interested and carried on my research into how to change the device to the new setup.
Obviously all I had to do was re-connect to the device and load the page in my browser which was then easily switched to the Access Point without having to purchase any protective software.
Now device is running perfectly, connected as an Access Point and the speed from the device is as fast as cable connection.(NETGEAR WN3000RPv3)

Best avoided

Phoned for help with cinnecting WiFi extender having just changed internet provider. Live Chat said Tech Support would call me, whuch they did after about 4 minutes. Good so far! They said they ciuld help me for a £89 fee as my 90 warranty period had passed. Thing is I had only bought the device 67 days ago but I did not have that info to hand. Tried twice to re-contact them via Live Chat but they failef to answer even though showing to be online. Be warned, they only want money rather than offering help.
