Disgrace to the area

Wow how Newcastle airport has gone down hill management should be fired. Airport used to be a nice clean place to visit wow how that has changed. Airport dirty poorly maintained and over crowded. Crazy prices and ridiculous drop off charge. On return 1 and half our wait for bags long queues stressed staff and standing in the disgusting dirty corridors with dirty marked walls and carpets. Used to be proud of the airport now it's a dump as others have said what a welcome to the northeast for visitors the local authorities who own the majority of this airport need to start asking questions

The place has now become a nightmare to return to, it is tired, dirty and severely understaffed. It is not the pleasant experience it used to be. we found the ladies toilets weren’t clean, and the smell from the gents loos was awful.
Trying to disembark from the aircraft was ridiculous no steps, no buses, and huge ques at passport control, the e reading passport machines are actually slowing up the ques not helping at all, they reject passports more than accept causing the ques to grow longer.the whole place needs a complete overhaul, with extra staff, and re decoration. It’s supposed to represent the North East as an international airport, but is well below standard. arriving back from holiday, is an absolute dread due to inadequacies.

THIS AIRPORT IS A DISGRACE and an…

THIS AIRPORT IS A DISGRACE and an embarrassment to the region THE AUTHORITIES SHOULD ADDRESS.
08/09/22 departed
13/09/22 arrived
The £4 charge to drop off is nothing short of theft.
The seating in departures 'hall' around the shops/coffee bars is without question the least comfortable, backless, hard chair anyone has designed, you wouldn't see this in a prison visitors waiting room.
The windowless coffee shop, it's like having a coffee in a cellar.
Why was the window covered?
The cacophony at the departure bars/restaurant areas is unforgiving. I feel for the staff!
The toilets at luggage hall arrivals are an eye-watering, stinking mess.
The biometric passport entry system needs to be scrapped, it is a total waste if everyone's time where most end up going to a human, queuing twice for the pleasure.
If you run a 24hr service, run 24hr staffing.
The rip-off taxi monopoly is shameful.
All in all this is a blight on our region.
It should be remembered that to all international visitors this is their first experience of our amazing region.
You get ONE CHANCE at a first impression.

Needs a good clean…sitting in the bar after being delayed & the tables haven't been wiped, the floors are filthy & the bar doesn’t even looked like it’s had a clean in days . Dirty dishes stacked up on trolleys .
After coming through covid times is it not still so important to clean regularly?
Disappointing Newcastle airport

Flew out to Dubai 7 September

Flew out to Dubai 7 September, returned 21st. Aspire lounge going out was fine but security checks were horrible, the staff treat people appallingly. Everyone had to take off shoes with a filthy carpet, and they insisted on putting medical equipment through the scanner. Treated like criminals. They need to learn a lesson from Dubai, which is amazingly efficient and clean. Newcastle is filthy. Return trip was even worse. Machines didn’t recognise our passports, again treated like criminals. As for the luggage, well it’s all been said before. Horrible dirty hall, no staff anywhere, an hour’s wait for baggage. Had to go down stairs to get there, and husband has mobility issues. You couldn’t make it up. In addition, on both trips - two weeks apart - the fire alarm was constantly being ‘tested’! Most likely faulty rather than being tested! Just the most appalling experience, and that was with having paid for business class. Unbelievable. Had also booked a car to take us home and it was too small for our luggage. I would advise people to avoid this airport, it must be among the worst in the world and what you would expect in the third world. A total embarrassment.

Arrived back from Greece yesterday around 2.20pm. I was discusted how dirty the baggage area toilets were, toilet paper all over the floor and smelt like they hadn't been cleaned for a while, it gives a terrible first impression to any one visiting our region.

I arrived at Newcastle from Perth WA on…

I arrived at Newcastle from Perth WA on 31st August but had twisted my knee getting out of my seat on the Qantas flight to Heathrow. By the time I disembarked at Newcastle the pain was pretty bad. Th BA staff saw me struggling and were quick to assist by helping me down the stairs then getting a wheelchair to take me through to baggage claim, assisting me all the way. I can't thank them enough. I didn't request any help but they were there immediately they saw me struggling. So thank you to the flight attendant and the lady who pushed the wheelchair, you were both so kind and helpful

Parking recovery lads excellent

We flew home on Tuesday and landed at 1am, when we went for the car we couldn’t get in. I tried to ring RAC but no answer. The parking recovery team come straight out, Paul and his boss were excellent, they managed to get the car started with no problem. We would like to thank them and we are very grateful!

A speedy check in with BA and then…

A speedy check in with BA and then things went into a downward spiral. The lavatories were quite the filthiest insanitary place I have used. No lavatory paper other than used paper on the floor, many doors without locks and nowhere to hang bags. Flying to Austria, the contrast in cleanliness was so marked. As a Brit I feel ashamed of my country.

Disgraceful toilets

Came home from holiday, 27th August, we went through border control and a lot of people were having their passports refused on the self serve so had to go through the maned control area so it took longer than usual for everyone to get to the baggage area.
First visit here for the majority of people was the toilets and for the first time ever I was shocked, the toilets were a complete disgrace. If you were lucky enough to find a cubicle with paper as most of them were empty but there was toilet paper all over the floor. A lot of people decided not to use the facilities as they were so bad. We had just arrived home from Fuerteventura where everywhere was spotlessly clean. Come on Newcastle you need to pull your socks up.

Flew in from Bergen (such a lovely provincial airport) to enter a pointless Newcastle Airport arrival hall set up ie a long walk round the ‘sheep pens’ for our small flight compliment. The only African gentleman on our flight was ‘randomly’ picked out by Border Force - he was actually a delegate to a university conference. Then the shame and embarrassment…filthy toilets, litter that included beer glasses left nowhere near any bars. Incidentally, on the way out to Bergen no public seats as management have decided bars should provide? Many people sat on the grubby floors.

Flew from Newcastle to Majorca on…

Flew from Newcastle to Majorca on Monday morning at 6.05 am. Got there two hours before and stood in TUI.check in for 1 hour 15minutes. Got to be the worst start to a holiday. Two check in desks open! Queues massive. Should take a leaf out of Jet 2 check in. They are well organised and get you through check in as fast as possible. Then security! Queues huge. Waited so long our flight was called and had to go straight to flight lounge. Awful start to holiday. Will stay clear of TUI in future. Unfortunately this isn’t a one off as happened in the past with TUI

Money grabbing, poor organisation, racial profiling

Small airport with own metro station and a greggs make this a less stressful airport. But the money grabbing and repeated racial profiling let the airport down. Parking and taxi charging for entry are absolutely ridiculous for such a small place. Charging for the plastic bags for liquids is bad when these are given for free at security and all around the world at other airports.

Finally my family keep getting stopped for 'random checks' and extra questioning at security and border control. Probably because we were the only brown faces in a sea of white faces, but come on guys be less obvious. If you must stop us at least stop some people in front of us too so it's not so obvious (even though I'm born here and we all have UK passports and we all work - I'm a doctor!).

The departure lounge is disgraceful

The departure lounge is disgraceful! 7am the floors in the bars are sticky and dirty, as are the tables. We ordered food at a really inflated price and 2 out of the 3 meals served on dirty crockery. Miserable staff working in the bars. The management need to get out of their offices and have a wander around .
