Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 108 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about overpriced games and aging consoles, feeling that the business has become overly greedy. Many people also experienced extremely frustrating issues with unhelpful customer support representatives, poor product durability, and poorly functioning online digital stores. Some people were satisfied with the core entertainment value and fun gameplay, despite the very steep costs of official hardware accessories. A few reviewers remain huge loyal fans who love the nostalgic titles and classic hardware, finding genuine joy in using their favorite portable gaming devices.

Greedy company thats bullying small game devs

Greedy company that sits there bullying smaller game studios in court rooms and ramps it's prices up because they want more money. This is not the Nintendo I grew up with they don't care about gaming all they want is profits so they'll never see a dime from me again. Mario,Zelda, pokemon, all Nintendo exclusives are absolutely garbage games now because they have Nintendo on the case pokemon is now more than garbage it's complete ass now.... I hope palworlds finds a loophole and sues the F out you over this greedy shit

Nintendo doesn't deserve your money

Awful customer experiences, between them butchering games in litigation, and price gouging customers is awful. They don't deserve the following they have anymore. They haven't improved gaming in 25 years, they just rehash old systems and expect nostalgia to bring profits. It works and that's a shame on the gaming industry.

Beloved Fan

I've been a Nintendo fan for decades, after my first encounter with the NES system with the beloved characters such as Mario, Link, and Samus, Nintendo and its network of developers have delivered lifetime memories that I can now share with my kids. However, the past decade has been a struggle. I've clinged on to the nostalgia and purchasing new systems and games that support it. But in this last decade, I find myself questioning the integrity of the company as a whole:
-The graphic quality inst an issue, I tend to find that graphic quality doesn't exceed gameplay, no issue here. I know that games take time and effort, and expenses increase (on all platforms), yet having your market set on prices that never depreciate goes against common consumer curtiousy ($60 game normally depreciated in a year or two years max, not stay a steady day one price). And it's not that there are deals or sales available, but the final list price remains unchanged. This definitely cringes on budgets across the board, not just for me, but for an economy as a whole.
-Your model for Online gaming and game sharing on the SAME console hardware. For example: on my account, I have downloaded games onto the Switch. On the same system, there are 2 other profiles, my 2 sons. The game plays well enough under my profile, but the 2 profiles my sons possess are not able to access the game on their profiles on the SAME system. Thus makes it difficult for each of us to play and save games separate from eachother. In order to relieve this stress, I would have to purchase the same game under each profile. If a game is purchased on one system, it would be common practice to allow the other profiles/users on the same device to play the game (as it does on Google, Playstation, Steam, and Microsoft). Physical Games work as they should.
-There's a lot of debate on the lawsuit against Palworld, more against Nintendo than Palworld. Though I understand you need to protect your IPs, what you pursued seems unethical to my beliefs. In your patents that you filed AFTER the Palworld game was released, you refer to many content that is similar to the game, specifically, Pokémon. As a family of Pokémon lovers, there are similarities, but not exact copies. And I am sure, you are aware, there are more games on the market that share these similarities (Ark, Digital Devil Saga, TemTem, Coroman, Nexomon, Shin Megami Tensei, Beastie Bay, ect). I could go on with other video game examples and explain each similarities with art, game play, and mechanics, but I won't, you know them by now. Specifically, the target against Palworld was to, in my opinion and as well as many, to degrade and dismantle the success of Palworld and its creators.

I will not end this message with my theories and other gamers theories on the subject of Greed, but instead the damage and forthcoming of future game creators who will be limited to the creative aspirations of new games, their gamestyle, and game mechanics. Because of your patents, the ability to increase the "open world creature capture" genre will be very limited to none at all. Though me and my family have loved the Pokemon series, there are other stories and worlds I would love to explore with other creative minds, not JUST what Nintendo releases. I've been a gamer since the Atari days, clones and copies of games have been in cycle forever, and it gives gamers a perspective of what they enjoy and discredit on their own, giving weight to potential "loyal" consumer gamers; not to be forced in propaganda or "playground" disputes.

Personally, From today, I will not purchase a new system from Nintendo, neither will I purchase a physical NEW game or download software. I have to feed my kids their favorite characters, but I will only buy used or private, knowing the sales from those will not be going to the parent company. It saddens me to the core that a company that produced so much of my life with joy and love, could go down a path that seemingly only is concerned about their success and no one else's.
I hope someone feels the need for change, good luck.

Done with Nintendo.…

Selling my switch and never purchasing another Nintendo game again, for being greedy cash grabbers. The lawsuit patent on Palworld is ridiculous, if you wanna claim they’re using something you think you have rights over then your company needs to go down for the many things your company used from other games. Sorry s.o.b’s.

0 stars. Money hungry company. They've use Pokémon as their little cache cow for years and litigate the heck out of anyone that does anything even vaguely similar. Guess what nintendo, other games are surpassing you and you're too far i to your own little bubble that you can't just accept competition and do something new and innovative. How many Pokémon games have you made? How many harvest factory and runescape games? Has your platform even advanced in any significant way since the first switch? I like the steam deck better. I loved the ability to collect people on the 3DS but Nintendo has lost the mark over the years. I will never buy another thing related to Nintendo after seeing how they handle competition.

Never again

And with the lawsuit vs Palworld I swear, Nintendo will never earn a penny with me ever again.
Too bad to make progress over a decade, just the same shit over and over again and when there are some dev studios who are innovative and make a great game, they just stomp them.
I won´t support that shit anymore, hope they go bankrupt one day so that there will be space for other companies.

A horrible company that takes indie…

A horrible company that takes indie startup companies who actually care about their consumers to court over rediculous claims in order to maintain its monopoly on certain gaming aspects. "Gliding down the air by holding onto your flying fantasy companion" seems to be a copyrighted game mechanic by Nintendo causing games such as Palworld to remove that content and replace it with actual kite gliders.

How low can you sink as a billion dollar company? Just google 'Nintendo Lawsuit' to find countless examples of how predatory Nintendo's stance is towards studios that actually care for their consumers instead of their money. #boycotnintendo

Our Nintendo Switch died after only 2…

Our Nintendo Switch died after only 2 years of life with a bad wifi chip issue that completely bricked the system. Nintendo customer service acknowledged that this was a known issue, that it had nothing to do with user error, but since our system was not within the 1 year warranty they wouldn't help resolve the issue. I would have to pay all repair costs and shipping. They offered me a 25% discount on the repair after I complained, but when I said I needed to discuss it with my wife they said I would lose the discount if I didn't make the decision RIGHT NOW, effectively trying to pressure me into making the decision to pay them more money for the inconvenience of getting my system working, even though the issue was with their defective hardware by their own admission.

WILDLY unacceptable customer service. As someone with 2 Nintendo consoles from my childhood still in working order, Nintendo has lost my business for life. Way to ruin a lifetime of brand loyalty over a $100 repair, guys.

Online Order not cancelled and refund not provided after item returned

Place an online order and paid the premium to receive it faster. Since the order took a while to dispatch, I called to cancel the order but they dais that it was in a status where they couldn't do anything about it (even thought it had not shipped yet). After plenty of calls I was told to wait for the item to arrive and return it (more wasted time). Then I call to request the return label and they sent instructions saying it can be dropped at any Canada Post location which is FALSE, Canada Post is not their partner anymore and Nintendo doesn't even care to update their own communications. After a full hour trying to find a Purolator location (yes, worst shipping service ever) they have not refunded my money after two weeks.
Word of advice, stay away form Nintendo if you want good customer service

Totally not a fair situation!

I understand tarrifs being given causes issues, but the consumers are now being punished by not being able to pre-order the console in the US. Absolutely not fair, not everyone here wanted any of this, but now we all get punished by something we have been waiting for, for a few years now. They are not even giving us any news on when we will be able to pre order or if we will even be allowed to preorder, oh but they are leaving the release date for the same. Not only that they told us that we would get that same preorder date, but then basically rug pulled all of us. You are going to lose a big portion of your fans in the US, good luck.

Why Nintendo is better than ALL consoles

While some games have better graphics on other consoles, I've had a switch for 5 years and had no issues with wifi, stuck drift, replacing parts etc. I have a ps5 that's not even 4 months old and have so many issues. Nintendo is 100% quality and value. So while Nintendo falls off for some multi-player games/split screen activities, it makes up for in the lack of need for maintenence and prices. Nintendo will forever and always be my go to 🫶🏼. Not only that but the Nintendo staff is amazingly helpful and very nice where as it's almost imposible to get in touch with PSN etc.

I been a long time fan with Kingdom…

I been a long time fan with Kingdom Hearts, to see this game is not available in store in Australia and the reason why was a huge insult to a person that might be dying from cancer, our internet is so expensive and now up to date why would we not be able to use Nintendo cloud for games like this. Our internet is on par with the US, could you guys please push this game for international release i think that wasn't a fair thing to do, if its playable to those in the US why can't it be playable to those that can play it, i mean that seems like region locking and we are in the year 2025, Australia is not third world on our networking but i am seeing an example of gatekeeping and what is exclusive to which country. You know for a game like kingdom hearts owned by Disney its that popular i dont see why the hell its not on our store. I own a ps5 pro and my internet can download a 50gb game with in minutes just an example we have stable networks, what a waste to never be able to play this game on my switch because i feel like i wasted my money on another console that gatekeeps certain titles and i always liked the idea of being a loyal consumer and " getting first class " but you know it does not feel like im getting what im actually paying for right now, it makes me sad as im already sick laying in bed everyday.
