Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 108 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about overpriced games and aging consoles, feeling that the business has become overly greedy. Many people also experienced extremely frustrating issues with unhelpful customer support representatives, poor product durability, and poorly functioning online digital stores. Some people were satisfied with the core entertainment value and fun gameplay, despite the very steep costs of official hardware accessories. A few reviewers remain huge loyal fans who love the nostalgic titles and classic hardware, finding genuine joy in using their favorite portable gaming devices.

A Timeless Gaming Experience

A Timeless Gaming Experience - 5 Stars!

I've been a fan of Nintendo for years, and it never disappoints. From the classic Super Mario series to the innovative Zelda games, Nintendo continues to set the standard for fun, creativity, and quality. The consoles themselves—whether it’s the Nintendo Switch, 3DS, or the beloved Wii—are always a perfect blend of innovation and nostalgia.

What I love most is Nintendo’s ability to create games that are accessible to all ages and skill levels while still being challenging and engaging. Titles like Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and Mario Kart have this magical ability to bring people together, whether you're playing solo or with friends and family.

The overall polish of Nintendo’s games is unmatched, and their attention to detail in design, soundtrack, and gameplay mechanics make each release feel like an event. They are pioneers in making gaming accessible, fun, and wholesome. Plus, the iconic franchises like Super Smash Bros. and Pokémon never seem to get old—there’s always something new to look forward to!

In short, Nintendo continues to deliver incredible gaming experiences that resonate with everyone, no matter their gaming background. A true gaming legend, and absolutely deserving of a 5-star rating.

Nintendo has the worst customer service

I wanted to add $50 to my son's account on Nintendo Switch. After spending a frustrating 45 minutes, I finally was able to do it, but in the process, I added the money to my own profile, instead of his. So, I called customer service thinking it wouldn't be a problem to switch the money to him. I was told no; it can't be done. OK, then I asked for a refund. No, that can't be done, but now they became willing to transfer the funds. After 20 minutes of asking all kinds of questions to verify that I was legitimately paying for my son's purchases, the tech was satisfied, put me on hold for another 20 minutes and then came back and said that another department will be handling the transfer, and it will take up to 3 days. I asked for the manager. Talking to the manager was the rudest experience I had with customer service. It was truly shocking. He wouldn't let me speak. He blamed me for not being careful. And he claimed that Nintendo never issues refunds or transfers funds from profile to profile even if both profiles are on the same account. He claimed that they were doing me this huge favor by even considering transferring the money. I am still in shock.

Amazing

I recently had to factory reset my Wii U and only remember my Nintendo ID. I called not expecting much but my call got picked up right away and the guy who helped me was super patient and friendly. After a while he was able to change my email and give me a new password letting me log back in again. Some of the best customer service ive had.

Mixes feelings, but overall a shadow of its former self.

Don't get me wrong, Nintendo still makes quality titles here and there, but they couldn't be any more disconnected from their audience. I feel like Nintendo fans are hypocritical in their own way, though, treating them like they are better than the other AAA publishers. Maybe they used to be once upon a time, but no longer.

I feel like Nintendo's focus shifted from making quality titles to destroying/suing fan work, destroying preservation and even trying to sue competitors to get their way in the past several years. The Nintendo Switch was a good thing for Nintendo for years, but has now become the worst thing to ever happen for them. They got another taste of success and are now showing traits of Microsoft, wanting to control every bit of their IP and fans.

It also feels like that "charm" that was once in their games is long gone, both the aesthetic and quality polish. Their newer games aren't bad by any means but it just feels like they are missing that very thing.

But my point is that if Nintendo truly cared about their fans and the company as a whole they would still be re releasing their old games either physically or digitally on their new consoles, not lock them behind a subscription service and constantly go after emulation, aka preservation and put more effort into their games. I really do not want to see Nintendo continue to head the same way as Activision, Ubisoft, EA, etc. Those companies are on life support right now from years of bad business decisions and if Nintendo continues this route they will end up the same.

Please do better Nintendo.

Customer service is great!

I got logged out of my account years ago and lost my log in information, Gmail and password! I called customer support and the guy on the phone was the sweetest most helpful person I've ever had for any customer support agent ever. His name was David, I hope he does well! I recommend him for any customer service needs!

Pussys can’t let others enjoy things

Pussys can’t let others enjoy things. Palworld is better than them and they couldn’t take it. I’ll never buy anything from them again. I will diligently check to make sure Nintendo made no effort in the production of a product before I buy it. Screw them until they’re permanently out of business.

The worst.

The worst.
I bought a headset.
Delayed 4 days without any notification.
When I reached out to chat support they said the item is being replenished and I should wait or cancel the order.
The audacity of these people.
Anyway I gave them piece of my mind.
And I am happy to write this bad review here.

Company's greed

There are quite a few bad companies out there. But few come to mind more than EA, Ubisoft, and Nintendo.

Granted they have unique gaming experiences they provide. But the quality of each release, and console power are severely lacking when compared to competitors.

But the thing they have in common with the other companies mentioned. Is greed, they will sue, strike down, and make it impossible to enjoy older games or newer ones. Targeting customers and other competitors alike with take downs and suing.

I can't see any reason to buy Nintendo games anymore. Nothing seems to draw me in anymore.

DO NOT USE NINTENDO

I tried to buy Nintendo sports on the switch. I added my card then went on swith e-shop and tried to buy it. It went thru the steps and it threw out an error that it wasn’t successful. I checked my emails and banking app to see if the payment went thru - it didn’t show. So i tried again but this time added to the balance to make the purchase. I added the balance and heard emails coming thru only to find that they did charge me for the game (which I got, not the problem) and for adding to the e-shop balance.
Nintendo is not cheap and their tier of adding funds is €60 while the game is only €40. I was okay for €20 to sit on the balance and having spent only €60. Now I have shelled out €100, of which €60 is sitting in the balance unused as I had NO intention of spending more. I game but not on nintendo and this was for my nephew.
I contacted customer support - they say they don’t issue refunds but the thing is i would never have spent the money if it wasn’t for their error (even the game showed as purchasable after the error so add the no emails and no charge on my card, what else was I supposed to think).
Anyways - don’t spend your money here, they are expensive and will screw you over the first chance they get.

Suing over game mechanics. Stifling creativity.

They are suing companies over game mechanics and I'm currently appalled at how they are essentially copyrighting mechanics that can effect the creativity of other companies. Furthermore I think this has the potential to prevent future fun games to enjoy. Until they stop this practice I will leave this review as is and furthermore protest against purchasing products from them.
