2nd knee replacement and fully recommend Nord
We all know how important it is to minimise atrophy when you finally get to a bone on bone situation with your joints. Time wasting could be devastating in fitness health and mental health.
Knowing that I wouldn’t be looked after by home services (NHS) I started to look around , google etc , i have international connections, and have worked over seas , I’m an Osteopath , cyclist, poor surfer and dad with dogs, activity is everything to me.
So through word of mouth and google I arrived at Nord clinic.
From start to finish a clean organised easy to follow system. Great chances to build friendship's with fellow patients and a lovely team of very fluent clinicians to guide you through the surgery,
Now no surgery is pain free and knees defiantly not , but within 2 weeks yours doing great and within 6 almost fully able. Then it’s a matter of rebuilding yourself to your own levels.
I returned recently for my second knee, Nord are great , hotel is a choice thing and if I had 3 knees I would try Nords own accommodation next time , look it up !
Thank you Nord , I’m home safely after a good flight , there’s more leg room in a normal seat on Wizz air by the way. Im now using all the advice from the awesome physio’s at Nord.
Recommend ? Yes Id send my Friends for sure
Thank you
Bruce
Professional and friendly
Where to start...
I have just come back from Nordorthopaedics, I had shoulder surgery with them( after waiting 13 yrs with the NHS)
I have never been somewhere as professional as Nordorthopaedics, from the second I landed in Lithuania they were there.
I was treated so professionally but also freindly, I can honestly not fault a single thing with them, from the first email I sent, right the way up to me writing this review.
I would advise anyone thinking about sending the first email to them, to do it. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Thank you so much to the surgical team and the nurses, you were all amazing.
Amazing nord experience
I have returned home a few days ago from having hip replacement surgery performed by Dr S.Tarasavecius. my whole experience from start to finish was outstanding. From the girls that I dealt with on enquiring in admin. Neringa and Agne, who were outstanding and so very very kind, informative and helpful. Continually communicating and never leaving you hanging on waiting. I don't know how tjey manage it, but they do a superb job. And this was the catalyst as well as other reviews, for me choosing nordorthopaedics in lithuania. Tje nurses were fab, and clinic immaculate. Food amazing. And care better than any I've had. The physio after op with Prof. Laimonas siupsinskas was absolutely fantastic. It made my days every day after op. He and the team were just perfect. I had one overall 100% amazing experience and it's for this reason that I cannot recommend the professionalism and capabilities of all nord staff/ clinic right down to domestic staff. I'd recommend to anyone. Thanks Nord for my life changing experience. I also had a great time in tje country and would return even for a holiday and absolutely for any future procedures. Better nor cheaper care could I have gotten in my own country. Annette Lister
This was my second visit to Nord
This was my second visit to Nord. My first was for a PKR 3 months ago and this time for a THR. Obviously I felt as though I had totally recovered from the knee operation 2 months afterwards, a little stiffness in the mornings but full motion and movement and no pain. The first week after a hip operation is to just get through but as I’d had a THR 3 years ago in England I found the discomfort following the Nord operation was soooo much easier. I made full use on the on-site physio both times. This was critical to my knee replacement recovery and no doubt the hard work for the hip will reap similar benefits.
I have just returned to Canada from…
I have just returned to Canada from Nord clinic in Lithuania after having a partial knee replacement. The full complete experiance was very pleasant and absolutly top notch professional all the way . The staff starting with Agne' whom was my first contact on up throught the drivers (which I cannot say enough good about) and above to the medical staff complete were very polite very reassuring completly professional every step of the way , also their grasp of the english language was not only appreciated but excellent.
I stayed at their apartments for the duration of my stay and found them to be quite nice ,comfortable and the small kitchen was perfect for prepairing small meals and not having to rely on the wolt app.
I made the decision to have Nord perform my surgery after contacting many different clinics around the world and balancing the cost along with the physio that was available of which I took 11 days worth and for me that was needed. Nord was the best choice from the many I looked at and I will return for my right knee when I have recovered fully from the left . Truly as great an experiance as one could have for Surgery abroad . 5 star all the way
Roger.
Thinking of going abroad to have a TKR…
Thinking of going abroad to have a TKR was daunting and not something that i would have normally considered. On finding out the options, especially living in Wales ( 4 year waiting list and £17,500 for a private operation ) i started to investigate options abroad. The name Nordorthopaedics kept being mentioned, i was amazed by how many people, even in my small part of West Wales.
I decided to contact NORD and from my first introduction to Neringa all my questions were answered promptly and in full. She kept me fully informed, let me know what was needed from my end and the whole process ran seamlessly.
The hospital was clean, efficient and very proffessionally run. The operation day arrived and the care i recieved was second to none.
The following 8 days of physio for me were the game changer, the logistics team were always prompt with pickups and the drivers polite and helpful.
I am 12 days post surgery and moving about my house without any sticks or crutches.
I would recommend NORD to anybody without hesitation. If you have any doubts then i know once you make contact with the clinic they will answer any questions, nothing is hidden.
The Face Book site was where any question i had was answered by past patients, who are all positive about their experiences and outcomes.
The whole experience was an eye opener into how things should be done.
Just back from Nord in Lithuania for my…
Just back from Nord in Lithuania for my second total knee replacement. I can't say enough good things about the whole experience, from first contact by email to the logistics team delivering me back to the airport to travel home. Of course I was a bit sceptical of travelling abroad for my surgery. All my fears were for nothing as the whole setup from start to Finnish is just first class. As proved by my return for my second knee surgery. I actually travelled alone, stayed in a local hotel after surgery to attend the clinic physio sessions. This all arranged via Nord.
Even airport works well with airline special assistance which I recommend for homward journey after surgery.
Exceptional staff, exceptional hospital.
Can't sing their praises enough.
Faultless Service & Facilities. Physio was superb
Cannot fault Nord Orthopaedics at all for the service they provided for me, undergoing an ACL reconstruction surgery. From the speed of response regarding all my queries prior to booking, the organisation & execution of the entirety of my trip logistics, including transportation to to and from the airport, I cannot find a negative aspect. I highly recommend to anyone who is considering going for treatment, you will not be disappointed.

Everything went really well with my shoulder surgery
Amazing Team
Great Doctor, nurses and staff all very kind polite and supportive
I would not hesitate to go to Nordorthopeadics again.
From being initially picked-up at the local airport, to being returned there 2 weeks later after a TKR and ten days rehab/ physio my treatment with Nordorthopaedics was first class. All the staff are very caring, and clearly supportive of an excellent organisation. Such serious surgery is clearly not to be taken lightly. From initial queries by email, to attendance at the clinic, prompt and personal attention has been the norm.
It is now just over two weeks since the surgery, and I have no hesitation in recommending Nordorthopeadics to anyone contemplating joint surgery, they are superb.
Outstanding from beginning to end
Outstanding from beginning to end. Great communication. Great surgical analytics and advice. Great welcome. Clean, organised, professional.World class surgeons. Great after care. Great physios.
(I’m afraid it makes the NHS in UK look like it’s in the dark ages).
I recommend Nordorthopeadic unreservedly.
It can seem daunting to get on a plane to go for surgery but keep exploring the idea. It’ll be worth it.
Professional, timely and caring
While I chose to have my private surgery closer to home, my other choice was Nordorthopaedics. Everyone with whom I interacted at this company was professional, helpful, timely and caring. The team at Nord reached out to my PT in Canada to ensure they fully understood my condition and needs. Unfortunately, I may need another surgery for a different issue, and I would not hesitate to reengage Nord. It saddens me that our public health care system cannot be more responsive to surgical needs, but I am happy to see such a professional and cost effective alternative available.
So refreshing to experience such excellent Service …
From my first correspondence with Agne at Nord Clinic to my flight back to UK after my total hip replacement, I cannot praise everyone in the team enough for their efficiency, courtesy, speed and professionalism.
Does what it says on the Tin!
The initial fear and trepidation I had in regards to getting a THR abroad @ Nord & being in fair amount of pain for a couple of years, made me realise I should have got it done sooner! Can’t fault the madical staff across the board, the physio, the nurses the shuttle van drivers were all amazing, but meeting many other western patients was key the mutual support & encouragement makes a Hell of a difference! Kaunas city beautiful top notch.
I went to Nordorthopaedics Clinic in February 2025 for meniscal repair surgery.
I went to Nordorthopaedics Clinic in Kaunas, Lithuania for an arthroscopic meniscal knee repair. I was doing research online for alternatives and their name kept coming up. I chose to use them because of the extremely long public waiting lists in Ireland and high costs to go privately. I made first contact early December 2024. Their main administrator Neringa, got back to me immediately and explained how the system worked. I cannot express how wonderful this organisation is to deal with. I was operated beginning of Feb 2025 about a 8 weeks after my first enquiry! I am female and
travelled to Kaunas alone and not once did I experience anxiety during this trip. All collections and drop offs from airport, to clinic, to hotel were taken care of by their logistics team. A prompt whatsapp message confirmed these pick up times everyday. The clinic was spotless and modern. The admin staff assisted you with documents etc. Pre-ops were thorough, with bloods, ecg and xrays taken the day before scheduled surgery. My surgeon Ritaurus Rakauskas was so lovely and meticulously explained my procedure, with a visit the next day to go through the op step by step and advice for returning to work and activity when home. Brilliant Physio therapist Laimonas guided me through physio exercise in their physio room. Meds, crutches, icepacks were all supplied by the clinic. Anything Nord said they would do was done and more. I never had to worry once about mundane form filling, collecting meds etc. because it was all done for me. The whole process was smooth from start to finish. I would highly recommend Nord for any ortho procedure. Their business model is to be envied. Kaunas is also a very pretty town, with plenty of gorgeous bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants and from a personal point of view, I felt very safe there. I have never come across such an efficient organisation in my life!!
Would I use Nordorthopaedics again??
Early in 2024, after months of increasing pain, I found that my left knee was totally beyond repair. I needed a total Knee Replacement! I was referred to the NHS here in South Wales, I was soon being told that the wait could be 4yrs plus. So I decided to look at the options for private surgery, TKR surgery locally starts at £15199. As I looked around friends kept mentioning going abroad, Lithuania and the Nordorthopaedics Clinic kept being mentioned.
I contacted Nordorthopaedics as a general enquiry, which they responded to and informed me that they had an open meeting in Cardiff on Friday 8th November. We booked a place and in the time leading up to the open meeting I tried to find out as much as I could about Nord' I could not find a bad review! (was this too good to be true?). All my dealings with Nord' were being handled by Neringa, she is the most professional, helpful and courteous Liaison Manager I have ever dealt with.
At the meeting we met Neringa, the team and Prof Sarunas Tarasevicius. The meeting was informative and genuine.
As a result of the meeting we decided to apply to Nord' for the TKR surgery, Neringa took over, making the total process easy and informative including the hotel booking.
I had my TKR on the 27th January 2025 and from the time of arrival at the clinic to discharge back to the hotel I found no fault, all the staff were polite, helpful, courteous and focussed on my well being and the success of my surgery.
After discharge came a program of physio delivered by Laimonas and his team, again their standards were unquestionable. The work was hard, but I think we all looked forward to it each day, I know I did.
The transport team operated to the same exacting standard.
So would I go back if I need any further joint surgery?
I WOULD LOOK KNOWHERE ELSE.

First class clinic
First class clinic. You won't get better.
This was my second visit for 2nd hip operation.
The efficiency of operations, customer care and surgery should be the envy of the world. If only the broken UK NHS could learn from this ! Expert Rehab included along with pickups and drop offs - you just can't get this experience where i come from.
An absolute Centre of Medical…
An absolute Centre of Medical Excellence. Had Total Knee Replacement in my 73rd year on 16/2/25 and less than 4 weeks later am walking without crutches or sticks and have been for several weeks.
Every element of the journey has been first class. My liaison Manager Neringa has from first contact been very responsive and arranged all the logistics of my visit,my initial consultation and my preop arrangements. Date for surgery readily available. Worth noting that medical staff required that I take a full Cardio Review before commiting to Surgery...a very cautious but reassuring check. The 2 Professors, Surgeon and Physio were very reassuring and paid great attention to my needs. The Nursing staff were readily available and very attentive. If I need either a second knee or hip operation I will only come to Kaunas, so Superior to my previous experience of private or public surgery in the UK and Spain.
The whole package comes in at a cost that is so competive. I felt so knowledgeable throughout the whole package and benefited so much from the experience and support of my fellow patients.
Would class this as a wonderful experience with the bonus that I am now pain free with the prospect of long term good health
From start to finish I was very…Thank you
From start to finish I was very impressed with how smooth and so well run whole experience was. The Nord Clinic is how health care should be done, you really have nothing to worry about the Nord staff sort every detail out for. I can’t recommend the Nord clinic highly enough
Thanks so much

UPA spa clinic rehabilitation
Unfortunately we have given 2 stars not due to Nordorthopaedics clinic and the surgery which was excellent, but it's due to the rehabilitation at UPA.
We specifically chose for our mum to go to UPA spa clinic due to the fact my mum is 79 years old and it seemed per the information provided by the website and speaking to Nordorthopaedics that she would be looked after as all her meals were included, medical care was included along with rehabilitation. As my mum was going to be on her own without a support person as I wasn't able to go as I have cancer and going through treatment and my sister is a working single mum.
However disappointingly UPA's service wasn't as expected as there was only 1 nurse and 1 doctor for 120 patients, no emergency button in the room to call for help and the food was horrible when she managed to get some.
Not to go into to much personal details but when you have had knee surgery you are totally incapacitated and in a lot of pain and you only have two days in hospital then they discharge you to where you are going for rehabilitation in our case UPA, and due to the drugs they give you you can get bladder weakness issues, plus you are in a strange country with a different language to deal with and we were told the language barrier wouldn't be a problem but that also wasn't the case either as most of the staff at UPA didn't speak English. My mum was to scared to go to the toilet on her own in case she fell and the same for taking a shower plus she was not able to hardly walk for the first 4/5 days so had to keep asking the nurse for help who was so pushed as there was only ever one nurse on duty that my mum had to sit in a soiled nappy for hours, was in the same clothes for about a week as that was the first time the nurse had time to help her shower. My mum struggled to get pain medication out of them as well. They also wanted her to go to the restaurant for food but as I have just said she was unable to walk for days so had to insist they brought food to her room. Water you had to pay for which mum discovered when she came to pay the bill and no other water was provided in the room which also doesn't seem right when someone can't go and get it themselves.
We have raised a complaint with the Nordorthopaedics and UPA but I don't get the impression they are taking it very seriously or even care. I have advised them both that I feel there website should be transparent regarding what care is available at UPA and they should also recommend that everyone should take a support person with them as if my mum had had a support person they would have been able to do certain things and help her with going to the toilet, changing her clothes, getting food etc..
So this is just a heads up to anyone thinking of doing rehabilitation in UPA Spa clinic you 100% need a support person with you. As my mum doesn't want anyone else to experience what she experienced for 10days.
