Their lack of transparency, planning and movement for their financial aid department is near nefarious. They have held my funds despite them receiving them for my program. Their lack of transparency... See more

Not a caring or competent school

Simply put I started at National university in early 2000. I was injured while working. While recovering my advisor never removed me from current schedule as well did little to nothing and messed up much. Now that I am finally able to go back National has tried to not give me my credits. I have been teaching for over 12 years. National never took responsibility nor really fixed anything.

Classes and communication

The pace at which classes can be taken is great and convenient. Some professors are more involved than others in regards to planning lessons that help with learning content.

Communication from advisors and departments about logistical things (applications, schedules, requirements) needs a lot of work. Need more transparency and timely responses.

Yikes

Admissions was great. Financial aid is very slow, it’s been a month and I still do not know what’s going on. The student advisors did not know exactly which forms to send for the initial credential application, so my first submission was rejected. The instructors are great, which is the only reason I am giving 3 stars and not 1. If I had a do over, I probably would not go with NU.

Also, double yikes. There is no Sandra Franco at NU. I tried to click the search in the email tab and it said no results found. Seriously NU…can you try just a little? Just downgraded to 2 stars.

My experience with NU has been beyond…

My experience with NU has been beyond stressful and frustrating. I have had to speak with far too many people in just the admissions process. Now, multiple academic advisors and other staff members on an almost daily basis. Too many to keep track of. I have been given a lot of false information which has led me to change my personal schedules and plans. For or a school that prides itself in being a yellow ribbon, veteran founded university, I am beyond disappointed. I looked forward, and still look forward to attending classes, but I am not looking forward to dealing with the extra stress that comes along with it. I believe staff members need to be more educated when it comes to new students and veterans. New processes should be adopted to make things flow much smoother.

To be clear, I have not had any issues with classes or professors. Just staff involved with the admissions process etc.

Not for ABA

If you do not already have a foundation in ABA, NU is not the school. Lack of resources, pretty much on your own, readings are repetitive, no real testing to test knowledge. Only plus is one class at a time.

Changed my bad opinion of college education

Im an Army Veteran who has attempted higher education three times prior to enrolling at National University. The course structure of one course per month as night classes have really been a turn around in my educational pursuits. I am learning effectively and enjoying college for once I am fourteen months into my degree program for bachelors which is about the halfway point since many credits were given for my military training records. I would encourage anyone especially veterans or active military to attend National. It has been a redeeming istitution when it comes to my opinion of college education and they take care of their students and staff. A very professional and organized place to be a member of. I am looking forward to earning a second and general bachelors after my first degree is completed

Amazing school

Amazing school! Such an easy process to sign up and they check in on you to make sure you don’t need any help frequently which is great. They are super fast at replying to issues. The classes have been great. Professors are super nice and have taught me a lot of new things.

The delay in response is frustrating

The delay in response is frustrating. I feel that due to how rapid the courses are the administration should be rapid paced as well.

Practical, Affordable, Manageable, but no guidance or support

This university is Great! I love the concept of having online courses and still being able to maintain my full-time job. The professors are very knowledgeable and courses and information is easy to navigate. The only downfall is the financial aid and the lack of attention from administration and advisers. I felt like I navigated my entire course of studies alone.

Bad customer service...

I still struggle with National University's Financial aid office. Their customer's service stinks and they do not have any empathy for student's issues. This is the case with my Pell grant which Financial aid takes for ever to release.

Experience

It’s not a good experience. When I reapplied, I was told I had to take 3 math classes and an English 2 class per the new catalog l was only told about the math class to be able to graduate before the pandemic. You can’t change things on a student when they have the catalog they are going by and not the new catalog.
