Gearbox flush

I was experiencing problems with my automatic Freelander which had started juddering and over revving when changing gear. I rang NWS who couldn't have been more helpful. They explained what the problem could possibly be and suggested a gearbox flush. While this was carried out, I was offered a courtesy car which was a huge help. Communication was brilliant throughout and I received very courteous service. The car is now running more smoothly than it has done for a while. I would definitely use NWS again.

I took my Dad’s 06 plate Discovery in…

I took my Dad’s 06 plate Discovery in after being told by another garage that it needed a new gearbox. NWS suggested instead to flush the gear box and torque converter and replace new filters. They gave me a curtesy car, and turned the car around within a few days and presented me with a bill for a few hundred pounds instead of a few thousand had I have gone with the other garages recommendation. They even followed me up via phone and email afterwards to make sure the car was ok. Superb service and Ashley and Sam went way beyond levels of expectation and their knowledge of Land Rovers is exceptional! Top rated and we’ll be using them from now on for all our repairs and servicing. Thanks guys!

Range Rover Sport 5.0 engine replacement

Last month My Range Rover Sport 5.0 petrol Autobiography 2010 had a catastrophic engine failure and needed replacing. When you are looking at a bill in excess of £20k from Land Rover for a reconditioned engine you quickly realise you need to find a trustworthy independent provider to step in. But then who can you trust with the thick end of £10k for this engine type? I took the plunge with Nathen and NWS, I was provided with a sparkling as good as new engine delivered the next day. I had it fitted locally and now past the 2000 mile running in period, I can say the car is running better than she was before! The team have been thorough and after sales have been great to make sure I was completely satisfied. Where I hope whoever is reading this never has to experience having to change your engine, if you do need a like new engine for a Land Rover this outfit is the real deal! 30k Mike warranty for even more added peace of mind, thanks for renewing my faith in what would typically be risky transactions.

From Denmark to UK and back during Covid

Couldn't be more satisfied with NWS. They received the car shortly before everything shut down and they handled it very professionally. Of course we saw a huge delay in delivery but that's force majeure. That car needed a complete engine swap and is now running perfectly. These guys know what they are doing and I would not hesitate to recommend them. I sorted out the logistics myself but they were also very kind to offer to help me out with that if needed. Disregarding the pandemic it was truly a hassle free experience.

Best wishes from Denmark

Second less positive review after two years of engine use

Having written a glowing review of my Range Rover Sport engine replacement in 2017, I feel that I need to provide more feedback in the light of experience. This may help shape others' decision on using NWS.

About five months after the engine was replaced, 4k miles later, it failed again. This is despite regular oil changes as requested by NWS. The engine was found to have almost zero oil left - a sign that something was not right even though oil had been added.

NWS offered to replace the engine at cost. March 2018.

Since then the engine has required a litre of oil every 2000 miles or so. When questioned, NWS said that this was within the margin of normal consumption. I never did manage to find any other mechanic who agreed with this opinion.

During regular servicing my local garage let me know that the engine was leaking oil from a variety of gaskets. Having spent over £15k with NWS I was not best pleased at this point.

I decided to have the engine examined by a different Land Rover engine specialist - and they have undertaken a rebuild, for the third time on this engine, at a far more moderate cost.

Their feedback so far indicate that the small turbo has failed, causing some of the oil consumption. This was changed in rebuild one, and should not have failed 30k miles later (an after market unit, not a LR part)

They reported that official Landrover gaskets had not been used - which possibly leads to the leaks.

They also report that the injectors were over-fuelling, thus causing premature wear to the engine bearings. This may or may not have been the case during the NWS rebuilds.

In summary, if you plan to use NWS, and plan to keep the vehicle, I would recommend that you insist on Land Rover parts where possible, and that you request proper injector tests before they are refitted.

Good luck

No action

Seriously blew a head gasket on my S3 plus the head was cracked in several places and needed a replacement - either new or reconditioned.
Rang NWS to try and source a replacement head - they said they thought they had one and would ring me back later. Three weeks on I am wondering how long is later?

REPLY to NWS.
I would have thought that S3 to a Landrover specialist would have rung a bell as Series 3 (Landrover). Sorry not to have spelt it out in words of one syllable!

Hi Tim,

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience, but please note NWS are a Land rover engine specialist, we do not deal in Audi parts so it's not possible this could have been NWS.
Please let me know the contact number you have called?

Thanks

Highly Recommended - Completely Satisfied

Have dealt with the team on a couple of occasions now to have maintenance and repairs carried out on my Discovery 4. Very professional and thorough service; particularly transparent about quotation and timely in finishing when they say they will.

Reconditioned 2012 Evoque 2.2 SD4 Engine

Sadly I had seized my 2012 Evoque 2.2 SD4 and replacement with a reconditioned engine was the only solution for a vehicle barely half-way through it's expected lifespan. Looking around the internet plus many e-Bay sites I was very concerned with the quality and reliability of some engine re-conditioners but happened upon NWS Motor Services via a lead on an Evoque owner site. You can imagine that the engine change-out has been seriously expensive (requiring flat-bedding the vehicle from Aberdeen and both a reconditioned turbo plus new oil cooler) but NWS Motor Services have been first-class through the whole experience. Right now, the engine is running faultlessly as the technical/motor engineering services of NWS are far superior to that I've even found with Land Rover franchised dealers. It must be said that there were some minor administration issues during the repair (mainly due to scheduling) but all were resolved quickly, professionally and fairly by NWS. I've already got the Evoque booked in for further work and will now use NWS for all future work. Hence, I've no problem recommending NWS Engine Services to any Land Rover owner.

Jaguar XJL (BIG thanks to Ashley)

My Jaguar XJL Diesel and a broken Crank. A garage in the trade recommended NWS to me. Trust me, the job of Land Rover engine re-con/re-build is not the thing that all specialists can do!

As I heard enough stories that other rebuilt engines been blown again within 1000 miles if you get work done from any backyard garages. Plus asking price from backyard cowboys just building up during fixing your engine! Hence leave customer got no choice but paying extra £££.

Since day one, Ashley Fraser helped me to deal with recovery the car from Central London. And also assisted me to fight with the warranty company. I do really appreciate their rich knowledge and patient to communicate with me.

More than 20 emails and phone calls of communications, Even helped me to carried out initial running in / test drive / Service, and even MOT in a really FAIR PRICE.

At the end of it, I just paid extra to get another 12 months extended engine warranty (so 24 months in total including their 12 months warranty which already included). As I prefer this kind of "Dealership" level warranty from NWS rather than a third-party one, which they never paid out.

I am really happy with my car now, as the diesel sounds like a petrol engine. And I am happy to share my personal experience with NWS if anyone interested.

Once again, a big thanks to Ashley !!!

14 months and 7000 miles and engine…

14 months and 7000 miles and engine gone again!having purchased a new engine for a discovery 4 from them in 0ctober 2017,we fitted new engine,2 new turbos and had injectors tested, car ran for 35 miles then broke down with internal load knocking from bottom end,i contacted them and to be fair recoverd the car and fitted a new engine[even though their warranty states that if you purchase a loose engine it is down to you to remove it,but only doing 35 miles i think that was fair anyway]on getting the car back we covered 150 miles and then had a misfire on cylinder 6 ,we investigated to find it was a internal fault with new engine,we paid £300 to get it recovered to them,a month later we get the car back and on the first morning at my house the car seemed to have a flat battery,on checking we found neither of the battery terminals were connected.we then did another 150 miles with no problem until the water pump they had fitted fell off! they did supply me with another one,but again we had to fit it and recover it.
now at 7000 miles and only 14 months the timing belt tensioner as sheered, causing engine damage,i contacted them and they sent me back a quote for a new engine, bearing in mind a landrover engine from new will do minimum of 100k before any issues i feel this is unreal bearing in mind the issues weve had and mileage, age of engine,so be very aware after service and goodwill are not forth coming from this company and we will not be using them again. This happens to be our own hire car we run for our garage,if this was a customers car we had fitted it to we would have to stump up the price of engine ourselves as i feel the engine should have lasted more than 7000 miles and the defect[sheered tensioner stud] was caused by over tightening when engine was built by them.

Having heard of NWS through fellow motor traders

Having heard of NWS through fellow motor traders and repairers I commissioned a replacement engine for a 2010 Range Rover 3.0d Sport. They arranged collection from the south coast and after engine change they partially ran it in for me and did a complementary oil and filter change after 500mls.
Also arranged delivery back to us.
Although costly, a very friendly experience.

ANYONE READING THIS PLEASE BE AWARE: YOU CANNOT JUST REGRIND THE CRANKS ON THIS ENGINE AND IF SOME COMPANY
(NORMALLY LINKED TO AN AUCTION SITE) OFFERS YOU THIS SERVICE FOR ABOUT 3K RUN A MILE.
YOU NEED A REBUILT/RECONDITIONED ENGINE AT THE LEAST,

NWS, simply the best

The 2.7 tdv6 engine failed on my Range Rover Sport, after a lot of research and a very poor customer support experience from Jaguar Landrover I decided to have a reconditioned unit from NWS motor services. From the owner , service manager and garage technician this company is totally professional. Nothing was to much trouble. Having been involved with the automotive industry for over 50 year, this is without any doubt the best company I have ever dealt with. Although I live a considerable distance from their workshop I will be returning to NWS for any maintenance and servicing required on my Range Rover..

A great team that did a great job and always kept us informed and updated .They were more that happy to spend the time needed discussing and explaining the problems we faced. Only issue was they had a number of vehicles waiting for repair and so we had to go in a queue!.
