I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from OCL Solicitors regarding my car accident claim from 8 September 2023.

The accident was not my fault, and the other party accepted liability from the beginning, so this should have been a straightforward case. Despite that, I have experienced nearly 3 years of delays, poor communication, and constant chasing for updates.

After numerous phone calls, I was finally sent documents to sign on 07/05/2026 and was told that I would receive my settlement within 20 days. The settlement amount itself is only around £240, so this is not a large or complicated claim.

However, when I called again today (09/06/2026) for an update, my case handler, Bethany Hopson, informed me that although the compensation amount had been agreed, there was an issue with the solicitor’s fees. I was then told they would need to send another offer and that I must wait yet another 20 days.

How can a straightforward non-fault claim take almost 3 years to settle for just £240?

Throughout this process, I have had to constantly chase for information instead of being kept updated properly. The delays and lack of urgency have been incredibly frustrating and stressful.

I would not recommend OCL Solicitors based on my experience.

I was the victim of an RTC on Friday 13th March 2026.

After being taken to hospital and being released, I had to set about recovery and claiming compensation.

Sophie Edward’s was handling my case for me and I’ve have nothing to complain about the service from OCL solicitors they kept me updated on my claim Sophie phone me a few times letting me know what was going on. My claim has now been settled thank you Sophie.

Please be aware if using One Call Insurance or OCL Solicitors. I was badly advised from start to finish and will never use either company ever again.
I was in a non fault accident in September 2025 and was advised by One Call Insurance that I could avoid paying the policy excess as the accident wasn't my fault. They failed to tell me at any point that this would be through a 'no win, no fee' claims company also called One Call/OCL. I only found out when AGEAS contacted me (my underwriter) and OCL advised me to tell them that they were dealing with everything. I had no experience of claiming on insurance and took their advice - big mistake. An accident that in my view was repairable, wrote my car off and tried to persuade me to claim for a hire vehicle and injury (I refused doing this).
When this was passed to OCL Solicitors as the third party insurance didn't agree with the claim I was left constantly chasing, being passed to various people, told various dates that the third party had to reply by and when this passed I had to chase OCL again. Finally a court date was given to me and I was told that they would appoint a third party to represent me in court (wouldn't be anyone from OCL) who would meet me an hour before the court time to go through my claim with me.
The claim was settled 10 days before the court date and I received a considerable amount less than that agreed with One Call. OCL Solicitors advised me after I chased twice, that as my car was scrapped I would have received the amount separately. This was never explained to me at the time.
