Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 114 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the app to be problematic, with issues like constant crashing and an abundance of fake profiles. Customers also reported that the website was hard to use and that the user experience was generally poor, with many feeling that the platform's design encouraged payment for premium features. Reviewers also expressed dissatisfaction with the payment system, citing instances where they were blocked after making a payment or experienced issues with payment outcomes. The social media aspect was also criticized, with users noting that the platform often showed them profiles that were the opposite of their preferences and that many accounts were fake or unresponsive. Some people, however, mentioned having met lovely individuals through the app years ago and appreciated the "Questions" feature for helping them understand potential matches better. A few users also found it useful for making international friends and noted that it was one of the few fully functional free dating apps.

Distance flaw

My distance is limited to 50 miles (Dealbreaker) yet "Likes" is packed with profiles from thousands of miles away and my email's inbox is rapidy filling with these. Pressing "Nearby" in the app doesn't filter these out either.

I contacted support and I quote "we don’t have a way to filter by state or national borders" and "be aware that Dealbreakers will allow you to change your view but people from around the world can still like your profile". Not good.

However I contacted support within 12 hours of starting my subscription and got a refund.

It never happened to me before!

#1 best dating app

I’ve tried them all. Playing it freebie, let me tell you why this is the best one. First concern, are there scammers? Rarely, and they are easy to spot. Out of my dozen or so meetings on the app, one of them was a scammer. Those chances are good.

Second, you can send intros after your like. It’s essentially a free message to get their attention and if you say something nice, chances are they will resply. So you don’t have to wait around for a match.

Also, the algorithm on this one feels good. If i am swiping for a specific kind of person, or from the same area, eventually OKC will start showing you a lot more of these people. I’ve liked, sent intro, and received match over a couple dozen times in just a few weeks, using it only sometimes. I noticed when I took a day or two of a break, when i came back it was showing me very compatible matches, even ones closer to me in my city that it had previously not shown me.

Finally I must say, never have i felt pressured to spend money. Hey maybe some of the likes i’m getting that I can’t see are bots or scammers. It hasn’t stopped me from actually talking with and connecting with people at super fast speed. And with that being said since I have had a good time here, I think I will spend something on it in the near future to support a good service.

This site is full of sh%t

This site is full of sh%t: Scammers, rude and antisocial people. Also, i met MANY women from Asia(Philippines and Thailand) and Africa. Most of them, were divorced with children. No matter the location, always i had a ton of them. Plus, i get permanently banned for unknown reason. At the same time, many profiles had half naked bodies with external link included, but okcupid didn't ban them. Stay away.

Don't use this site

I'd give this no stars if I could. Been using this site on and off for years. Things were ok. Found out I got banned for no reason.I am rarely on the site as it is. I appealed it, and they said I violated terms and conditions. Yet they don't say what I did wrong. Don't use this site. I remember when their premium membership wasn't expensive. Now its 5 times the price. There's alot of con artists using this site and don't count on OKcupid support to help you as they will ban you for no reason

Scam

Had (exactly) 17 likes. Paid for subscription (which is outrageously expensive at 47€/month). Sorted through all the bs likes, everyone mostly from thousands of miles away. Then nothing. Silence for a month. Then the same day my subscription expired, 17 likes again. Obviously a scam, not going back to this site again.

I received a number of "likes" whilst…

I received a number of "likes" whilst not paying. Like a chump I then paid a subscription to see who these might be from and discovered that none were even on my continent let alone my country. Once paying, I didn't receive any further attention at all for the duration of my subscription. I am not complaining about the latter state of affairs ...I can't blame the site for my not being found attractive, and I should have been suspicious, I now realise, at having apparently provoked such interest in the first place; however, the obvious scam being carried out to goad users into paying is unforgivable. I am sure that this site is not alone in doing this, and I really think all people -whatever gender or orientation- should boycott these exploitative money pits.

Sign in process keeps looping

Sign in process keeps looping, tried everything from their abysmal support page. Lots of people seem to be experiencing the same issue with no attempt to fix the issue from OkCupid. Try somewhere else like Bumble, Feeld, or even Tinder.

I’m only giving them one star as no…

I’m only giving them one star as no star isn’t possible. Setting up a profile is free. To view anyone else’s profile costs £29 a month. To see who “likes” your profile costs an additional £9 a month. The matching of profiles is pretty unscientific and useless. They overcharged me by double. When I complained they did refund the overcharge but I stil l can’t view any of the people who “Liked” my profile even though I’ve paid for this service. I won’t renew after my first month ends. Crap service. Total rip off. Useless app. Don’t waste your money

Reported a bug, got banned

I wasn't able to finish setting up my account due to a bug. I got in touch with customer support, took a week to hear back.

Thought I would try create another account on a different email address as a workaround, and they decided that meant I would be banned from using their services. I appealed this decision but it was denied.

Feels like a waste of my time and like I've done something wrong for trying to be helpful and find a solution to my own problem.

Used to be the best but i honestly have no idea why you are not listening to your feedback and fixing all the issues?? Seems like commercial suicide to me. Simply fixing the filters so they actually work wouod be a start. Set a height and it has zero effect. Simple fixes and listening to feedback you would have a great site again that would be worthy of a subscription. At the moment it's not fit for purpose

All the profiles are scammers, or bot profiles ran by Ok Cupid to keep you paying.

The only real profiles on this site are the women who are overweight, and never use sun screen. Every attractive profile I have had contact with are crypto scammers, just plain crazy talking stupid stuff that doesn't make sense, or one photo bot profiles. I asked you numerous times to clean up your dating site. Now I am coming with a class action lawsuit. Your site is dishonest, and a scam using any trick to keep paying men on your site. See you in court.

Majority of the profiles are fake, with almost every woman an expert in finance and crypto and trying to get you to invest. One month they all have the name Evelyn, the next month Alice and so on. Many have multiple profiles with the same name, different ages and locations. Then to top it off half the time you can't log in because it says, it's not on you it's us, and u can't log in.
