The whole process from start to finish was brilliant. I had my pre op consultation in Derby where I was met by Sohail, he was really helpful and answered all the questions I had about recovery and success rates really proficiently. I then met Dana who talked me through the procedure and what my suitability looked like. Surgery itself took place in Nottingham and was really quick and easy with very little discomfort and by following the surgeons orders I was able to manage the discomfort really easily and it only lasted an hour or two. All the staff have been super welcoming, did a really good job of easing any concerns and making me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. My Vision is now superb and I’ve just left having seen Hayley in the Derby store where she was really accommodating in setting up my follow up appointment. Would absolutely recommend. Genuinely life changing

My experience with everyone at the clinic has been amazing, very thorough with all the equipment at the start I did go other places but returned to optical express , staff so friendly and welcoming pretti optometrist very nice and explained everything in great detail op was pain free and done so quickly surgeon Mr Mughal and nurses were amazing and put me at ease through the op I’m going to enjoy being able to see I highly recommend optical express

I first visited Opticial Express Belfast in August 2025. I had alot of questions & concerns but the staff answered them all & reassured me. I had Lens Replacement Surgery in November 2025 & it truly was life changing. The after care I received was first class & I can't fault anyone from the Receptionist to my surgeon Dr Huba Kiss. My experience with Dr Kalid Riad during my lens replacement surgery was one of the most distressing medical experiences I have ever had.
Although the surgery itself was technically successful, the way I was treated left me feeling terrified, traumatised, and deeply upset. I experienced what I felt was a complete lack of compassion, reassurance, and patient care throughout the procedure. His manner towards me was, in my view, abrupt and unnecessarily rough, leaving me frightened and in shock.
As a patient undergoing eye surgery, I expected professionalism, empathy, and an understanding of the vulnerability that many people experience during such a procedure. Instead, I felt ignored, unsupported, and treated with little regard for my emotional wellbeing.
The physical outcome of the surgery does not outweigh the mental anguish this experience caused me. Had I known in advance how I would be treated, I would never have chosen to undergo this procedure with this surgeon.
I subsequently raised a formal complaint with Optical Express. While their responses have been polite and courteous in tone, I have been left with the strong impression that my concerns have not been taken seriously and that the company has focused more on defending its position than addressing the distress I experienced. Rather than feeling listened to or supported, I feel my complaint has been dismissed and effectively brushed aside.
I am sharing my experience so that others considering lens replacement surgery can make a fully informed decision. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend researching alternative surgeons and discussing patient care standards carefully before proceeding.

All the staff at the Peterborough site, where understanding, caring, friendly & explained the whole process in bite sizes pieces to ensure I fully understood the whole process, also made themselves available during & after the operation

I have visited Optical Express in St Albans over the last 3yrs in an effort to have a lens replacement surgery. I was unable initially due to a problem with ine eye which eventually went away. I was seen to by Zahra and Sue who were tremendous and supportive. They guided me all the way through until I was able to undergo the surgery in Milton Keynes. It was a quick and painless procedure and within 24hrs my eyesight is magnificent. I feel like a child again being able to focus in on everything I look at. I would suggest to anyone thinking about this procedure, do not put it off. Your eyesight is priceless.

Operarion very smooth and looked after well I had both eyes done.
One thing for nottingham clinic, to consider, my sister was waitng for over 2 hours for me and there were no tea or coffee facilities. Perhaps if thry could make this available, im told they could have made but she wasnt offered and the clinic was not busy. There is no need to make for customers im sure people would be happy to help themselves.Birmingham clinci was exceptional and all my consultations and after care at my local Leicester clinuc, where I feel very suppprted and cared for.

After receiving an initial promising start in the Hull branch I opted for laser eye surgery.
They quickly took my £500 deposit and booked me in for a consultation with the Leeds branch who would have been carrying out my surgery.
However several contradictions were raised from what I had been told from Hull including being told that I would not even be suitable for the surgery that I had booked in for.
Of course this made me question whether I wanted to proceed as I was due for surgery the next week.
I called and cancelled and was informed that I would “maybe” get my £500 deposit back after 28 days!!!
I was finally refunded £250 of my deposit. On calling to query this I was told it was because I had cancelled more than 3 days after my initial appointment in Hull. I raised that I cancelled as soon as I had received contradictory advice, literally within half an hour of that call.
I was then told to raise a complaint which would take up to 30 days to review.
I did this and received a call last week that they were giving me a £250 VOUCHER for Optical Express as a “good will gesture” So no money back.
I queried why and was basically shrugged off. I explained that I had received misleading and contradictory information from Hull and was even informed that the scans they had carried out were of poor quality so the surgeon in Leeds wasn’t even sure if I would be able to have LASIK at all. The person on the phone even informed me that they had watched the video call I had and agreed that there was misleading information given but still refused a full refund even though the cancellation was through no fault of my own.
After explaining I felt that the advice I was given was negligent and incorrect, as well as the fact that both my partner and I had taken a day off work to waste my time I was still told that I would get a £250 voucher.
Why I would want to spend any more time or effort with a company that has treat me this was is laughable.
Terrible customer service and no room for complaints.
I would advise people to think long and hard before handing over any money. They are keen to take it but don’t expect a deposit back even if you need to cancel because of their negligence.

Some feedback would be for telephone agents to give more accurate pricing ahead of consultation as my expectations were different to actual price quoted.
